I was looking for my girls to try…read morevolleyball but I really wanted to find something on a Sunday since Saturdays are pretty busy for us. We registered online when they had open registration. We then received an email closer to the start of the session. When we arrived for the first time, the girls were provided shirts and they got their name tags and got right into it. It's definitely a little harder with younger ones since their attention span isn't always there but they do try to keep them engaged and easier to call them when they have their name tags on. They are separated into three different groups. The beginners, returnees and most likely the better bunch. I don't know how they categorize it but that's just my guess. We attend the ages 5-8 group so I'm not too sure how the older classes work. For an hour and a half session, I feel that the money is worth it! I'd recommend it for anyone looking for an activity for their kids to try it out!

They start with warm-ups then go into skill drills. Safety, spacing, and capacity are not an issue during pandemic time. Parents are allowed to watch as long as you show proof of vaccination and pass a temperature check. Children, coaches, and parents are required to wear a mask. Coaches do allow water and mask breaks (with proper spacing). Coaches are professional and everything is organized. My daughter LOVES coming here and has so much fun. This is our second, 6-week session. I highly recommend!

This is an awesome, FREE on-going program for the youth on the west side…read more Rod Suzumoto and family (Ed, Kelli, Chase, Sissy, Shea, etc) with Coaches Diana, Bert, Keoki, Angelo, Kaydee, Steve, Vernon, etc...run a non-profit organization that comes out to Maili Beach Park on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. They teach our keiki the basics and fundamentals of volleyball! Pass...Set...Hit! They do different drills, go over foot work, serving, and even have scrimmages among themselves! When they're through, they serve a light lunch/snack that is normally donated! One of our faves are the Ju-Mui pops, yummm!! Thanks to Rod & his team for starting a program like this and bringing it to the west side! My keiki and I really appreciate it and look forward to playing more volleyball at Maili Beach Park with Aloha Beach Volleyball Club...!!

Recently my 7 year old son began to show an interest in basketball. Not having a clue where to…read morestart, I queried by Facebook friends and they did not let me down. In addition to i9 Sports, Police Activities League, and many other groups offering basketball play during a specified season, there were also weekly basketball clinics where we could just drop in. One such clinic is run by 808 Basketball Club held at Roosevelt High School gym on Sundays. The year round clinic teaches fundamentals and is for boys and girls from preschool through high school. The participation fee is $8, but discounted to $5 if you purchase and wear an 808 Basketball Club t-shirt. Each player needs to bring a basketball. I could tell my son was nervous, but he did his best to follow the coaches and other players. Afterwards, he told me he really liked it and wanted to return so thank you to 808 Basketball Club!

She said that even though it was her first time they didn't treat her like she was new. As soon as we walked into the gym, the ladies having us sign in were welcoming and friendly. We walked in a bit late, but they didn't make us feel bad about it, your child just jumps right in. I liked how it was casual, but not chaotic. The instructors taught a variety of moves, the kids don't get bored. The instructors are helpful and everyone who attends is encouraging. Kids would demo moves and everyone would cheer them on after their demo! I liked being able to sit and watch and get some good pics in! I like how they group the kids by age and how the kids get some free time to shoot hoops. For $8 and an hour and a half you really can't go wrong! Bring money for ono snacks after!

Visiting and staying in the Ko Olina area, we knew we had to play one of the premier courses on the…read moreisland of Oahu. They were running a special for $225/player (normally $275) with a 10-day advanced booking. They need a credit card to hold the reservation and you pay upon arrival. We had a 10:50 tee time and everything ran on time and check-in was smooth. Once checked-in, you'll present your receipt to the staffer who will give you a small bucket of balls. They took our clubs at the parking lot stand and placed the clubs on our cart. We grabbed a few clubs and walked over to the grass range, which was in decent shape. The course is great for all skill levels because it's pretty wide open and very well manicured. The rough is cut down pretty low so even if you miss the fairway, you still gotta shot at it. Playing the blues, the course is pretty long but manageable. The greens were in great shape and bunkers were great looking, although luckily I didn't have to play out of any of them. While it's a well maintained course, I thought the layout was kinda boring and predictable. Lots of good views and photo ops around the course, although the course has minimal ocean views. We had some vouchers from our hotel which we could use at the pro shop but not the snack bar. We ended up with a couple of bag tags, ball markers and a logo ball (gift set) which they engrave your name in the bag tag which is pretty cool for $20 for everything. The rest of the pro shop is pretty pricey though. Overall, glad we got to play it. I think the price point is what would keep me from playing again, but it's hard to beat when it's less than 5 minutes from our hotel. We got paired with a great couple, shout out Chuck and Cindy who were also visiting. It made for a memorable and fun day out on the course.

We love the food area, I personally love using the gym, and my husband, kids, and I all really enjoy the pool and water area. The kids have also had such a great experience with the sports clinics. It's just such a positive, family-friendly environment overall, and you can tell a lot of care goes into the facility and programs. We're very grateful to have such a great family facility here on Oahu!

They always have a few lifeguards on duty, and the pool even has a rock climbing area. How unique! They have a lot of other programs you can sign up for and even do plays sometimes throughout the year. This is in my opinion one of the best recreational centers on Oahu! The staff is awesome here. They are helpful and friendly! There is also a place where they serve coffee and food. Affordability wise, considering the variety of amenities they have including pickleball tournaments and the option for family plans, you get a lot of value much more than you would get with a typical gym membership. We pay roughly $100 a month for a small family and so that's a great value in my opinion!

Facility is top notch...has 3 courts, weight room, meeting rooms, film rooms, recovery room, lounge area outside and inside. Parking might be tight but no worries, you will find parking. However, I observed that at SAS they have a very well rounded approach. In helping your athlete understand the game, what they are doing, what they should be seeing and demonstrating proper body mechanics for your athlete. Through just one session my child has learned so much. They bring out the best in your child through explanation, positivity and respect. My quiet, not so confident teen looks forward to each clinic and has grown so much from his experience here. I would highly recommend this gym to any parent or athlete who is interested in volleyball.
