I immediately explained that I had never authorized The Zone to withdraw money from my bank account to pay for my husband's membership. In fact, I was present when my husband canceled his membership. When I asked for an explanation regarding these charges, I did not receive a satisfactory answer. I was then asked to sign an electronic pad to cancel my membership, but I could not see the document I was being asked to sign. I specifically expressed concern that signing something I could not read might waive or affect my right to dispute the unauthorized charges. Another representative, Carla, became involved and continued insisting that I sign. I repeatedly asked to see the document first. When I finally requested that it be printed, I discovered that the agreement did, in fact, contain language that could affect my ability to dispute charges. Later in the evening I received an email from management, Kyle Stine. He advised that because I timely paid both accounts my membership is canceled immediately. He did not address the facts that monies were being removed from my bank account without authorization. I admit that I was angry that the staff did not consider unauthorized withdrawals as stealing. I was also angry that Carla insisted I sign a document without seeing it. It is sad because the gym prides itself as being a community gym and had no problem dismissing a customer who has been supportive of the organization for many years. Unauthorized bank withdrawals is something that should concern all staff and management. It is very sad when the hometown gym takes financial advantage of it's members. I found the entire experience extremely concerning. No customer should be pressured to electronically sign a document they cannot see or read, particularly after raising a dispute concerning charges to their bank account. I am requesting that The Zone investigate how and why my account was charged for a second membership, provide documentation showing where I supposedly authorized those charges, and refund any amounts that were withdrawn without my authorization. I strongly encourage anyone dealing with a membership cancellation or billing dispute here to carefully read every document before signing anything.

I am a married woman in my late 20s. I've been using this gym for 2+ years. Recently there was an increase in predatory behavior where old white men were staring, lurking close, and demonstrating concerning behavior. I reported more than 3 instances immediately to staff working and the gym policy was for me to email the owner. The owner said they would review footage. All I asked was that my complaint against specific people be documented. I didn't seek anyone's personal info but in case anything happened to me I wanted a record that I was made to feel uncomfortable. Women have a way/feeling that helps us discern when someone's gaze has inappropriate intentions. I also met another woman at the gym who also complained about creepy men there. She actually went back into the gym for me after an encounter I had. I left my car key when I confronted an old man who was following me/trying to be behind me while I was working legs. I was laughed at behind closed doors by staff and instead of feeling like my concerns were met with protective measures I was gaslight and ignored. I'll be happy skipping on my way to cancel my membership tomorrow. It's be a long time coming!

Sure, there are a few hardcore folks, but there's zero gym-bro attitude. Everyone I've encountered has been respectful, willing to share equipment, and just generally pleasant. Overall, it's been a very positive experience. Don't be intimidated - people of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels seem welcome, and I haven't felt even a hint of judgment from anyone. Pedro is knowledgeable about his profession. He knows nutrition, muscles, fitness, and people. He gives me exercises that make me work hard, but is always careful of my present level of fitness and that I don't get injured. Next, his program. He has converted his home garage into a well stocked gym. There are two large fans that keep the place comfortable even on hot Florida summer days. The place is immaculately clean. If you are looking for a place that has staffing this would not be the best fit unless you came during these hours. When you aren't quite feeling yourself, you feel just fine being here. Their actual office hours (with staff available to assist) are M-F 9-5. The main doors are open during these hours but after hours, you do need a key card for entry. It's great that they are 24 hours for members and access is monitored via these key cards. On to the sign up process. You can purchase a weekly pass for $25 (there is a free 1 week trial pass but you have to be a local resident to take advantage of it.) Classes are extra but when I explained my situation they manager let me purchase 2 weeks worth of passes that cover 24 hour gym access and class attendance ($32 a week-for me a great bargain since I've been trying to go daily.) What really sealed the deal for me on USA Fitness as my temporary gym of choice was the robust class schedule (robust at least for a sleepy town like Palatka.) They teach classes that use the Les Mills format such as Body Pump, Body Attack and Body Flow while also offering HIIT classes and other boot camp style classes as well. The class studio has a separate entrance and while small, has a nice hardwood floor, decent air conditioning, cubbies to hold your belongings and really energetic and motivating instructors. The main gym has a decent amount of equipment. So far I've used the cardio machines and while a bit older, they are in great working condition. The best part is the lack of crowds-even after work. Perhaps it's crowded by Palatka standards but I loved being able to show up, have my choice of machine and for the classes, show up 10 minutes before and still get a spot. I've got one more week left on my pass and looking forward to another great and easy to accomplish workout at USA Fitness later today.
