My friend told me about indoor swapmeet and wanted to go check it out. They also have vendors outside as well. Free parking but admission is few dollars for adults. Vendors available sells groceries, clothing, perfume, makeup, blankets, car parts, pets, etc. There's even food section and seating available. Some of the items are cheaper than the retail stores however might be knock off too. Everything is self service, you'll have to look up a map of the vendors location to find them. Oh boy! This place has a lot of junk! Not much to buy (at least that I wanted). Maybe It was a little interesting walking around seeing the place. I think that a lot of the stands were selling Amazon Returns... but I can't confirm that. I actually felt a lot like a was in Mexico at a flee market! Best part about the 7 Mile Fair was the fruit desserts at a couple of the stands. Loved the chocolate and Dubai chocolate covered bananas and strawberries. The fruit and veggies outside were very cheap but most/some of it was really ripe or suspect.... You could fine some good stuff if you searched. I went there today and could not find a wheel chair access bathroom. Going outside or inside no power door to open for me. What a joke. I found 2 bathrooms but the doors are closed. 7 Mile is awesome. It's a giant flea market (and I mean giant with two buildings and an outdoor vending area). There is so much to see and the prices are great. The parking lot is huge and it's best to get there earlier to get a good spot. As the day goes on, it does get incredibly busy so if crowds aren't your jam, earlier is better. Video games, clothing, housing goods, custom car decals, music setups, beautiful quinceanera dresses, shoes, all sorts of amazing food, and even pets are for sale. Vendors are super friendly but not intrusive which is nice because I don't like to be bothered when I'm shopping. Prices are great--most t-shirts are $20, hoodies at $30, knives for $20. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time. It costs $3 per adult to enter but they have ATM's everywhere and do accept cards for entry payment. read more

We had the Gibraltar Trade Center, where every weekend, vendors set up booths to sell everything from car stereos to puppies to tattoos to elephant ears. Unfortunately, the one closest to my house went the way of the buffalo. But the Seven Mile Fair? It's like a taste of home. This place is a feast for the weird. It's ripe for people watching. You can get a cheap beer AND buy a bag of live chickens for only $12. They sell knockoff stuff. Cheap China stuff. Resale or antique stuff. Man stuff. Food things. Soccer things. As Stefon would say: "This place has EVERYTHING." Check out my pictures. It gives a pretty good idea of what you're in for. Please don't avoid visiting the 7 mile fair based on the stingier meaner reviews here, I don't think it's that hard to see the not so subtle class and racial bias seething beneath the spelling errors and sentence syntax errors. Yes, there are a lot of Mexican-American vendors and customers. I'm not LatinX and my Spanish is awful enough that they all just know I'm not one of them but without exception they all treated me fairly. I'm pretty sure the price differential is not due to any kind of race preference on the part of the vendors but rather more dependent on the demeanor of the buyer. I'm may be just guessing here, but it's an educated guess, I'm a sociologist. If you act like a dickhead, you're not going to get a lower price. There's also too much class bigotry in the reviews here, regardless of race, the vendors here are struggling a bit, maybe struggling a lot to eke out a living. Get to know some of the sellers, and you'll have a different perception of that $50 drill with concrete splatters on it. I met a guy here who lost his job so rather than hanging around the house feeling sorry and waiting to be evicted he collected a bunch of garbage and refuse and fixed up the broken bikes and lawn mowers and was selling them to support his family. Yes, one of them could have been the mower I had stolen from my garage but it didn't work anyway and this wasn't the guy who stole it. Anyone complaining about the "no returns" policy apparently doesn't have any idea what cretins American shoppers are. Just hang around a Kohl's customer service desk and observe all the ludicrous illegitimate returns they accept. Customer returns are killing big chains like Kohl's, so just imagine what it does to some struggling vendor at a flea market. Notice instead a common theme among the positive reviews, this is really a fun time. Don't come here expecting to buy something you really need for an unrealistically low price. Come here for the adventure and think of browsing and buying as entertainment. I've been to markets like this around the world and certain behaviors garner lower prices and a more pleasant experience. Get to know the vendors, and don't be daunted by a language barrier. Imagine you're on vacation. Maybe the vendor is spinning a yarn but if it's convincing, hey, go with it. Before you judge the price tag prices think, Google the executive salaries for Amazon, Target, Macy's, and Walmart. You've been donating to them for years, so keep that in perspective. One time I got a bundle of medium quality cotton t-shirts, 7 for $10 and the vendor showed me that they all had staple holes through both sides. Very small, hard to see even in sunlight, in a part near the shoulder where dress shirts cover them up. The vendor taught me a few different ways to refer to t-shirts and underwear in different kinds of Spanish and I met his daughter. I found out Mexicans think it's bad luck to hear strangers talk about how cute their children are and he recommended the best vendors for the fresh fruit I was looking for next. If you understand how this was an amazing bargain for all that I got, you need to visit the 7 Mile Fair. The food is the best part, so come hungry. It covers a lot of ground so wear comfortable shoes. It's mostly cash only and a 2$ entry fee. Combine the saying "Someone's trash is someone else's treasure," with farmers market and knockoff toys from China and you have the awesome flea market called 7 Mile Fair. As Stefon from SNL would say, "This place has everything... a woman yelling at you who wants to thread your eyebrows, a man selling parakeets, stalls and stalls of leggings, an underwear wall, Asian massage, a kiddie arcade, street tacos, live rabbits sold for pets or meat, an $18 eyeglass guy, and an 'As Seen On TV Emporium.'" ..and yes, I'm not exaggerating, "Stefon's list" is what we encountered. In all seriousness, this place is fun to check out. Good deals on socks, exercise leggings (not brand name but as low as $5), shoes, and if you're into street food you'll enjoy it. Parking is free. Admission entrance is $2.00 per person and children age 12 and under are free. It's like a regular flea market a bunch of junk and treasures for some. They have a few clothing/costume jewelry vendors that are not used items but for the most part it's second hand or used items. If you're looking for something to eat there I highly recommend the Mexican corn! Yum! The vendor is located inside and sometimes it's outside in a big RV/bus. The feeling I have regarding 7 mile fair, is that it is a bunch of junk that people sell..sometimes the booths are organized and sometimes they are just so chaotic you want to throw your hands up in the air and run to the indoor taco stands. Tacos, that's all so got at 7 mile Fair...and they were pretty good..no complaints there. However, why is the seating area right next to a cigar vendor where people were smoking? Huh? Some of the outdoor stuff being sold, let alone being touched may warrant updating the old tetanus shots. Yuck! Rusty old bikes, a few nails sticking out of stuff here and there. Whew! Two of my former colleagues told me about this place. They told me it was someplace we at least had to visit once. I in turn informed J. He loves looking at stuff and looking for old junk. Next weekend free, we headed to the 7 mile Fair. It seemed like it took awhile to get there although it wasn't that far. The place is quite large, hence the name. $1.50 to enter. A few times I thought they should pay me to come in. It's fair I guess to help them maintain. Didn't find anything I wanted or needed at this place, but I could finally say that I went. My 11 year old son and I love hitting up garage sales and goodwill stores, so when we heard about 7 mile, he really wanted to check it out. We planned a "mom and son" weekend around 7 mile fair. We knew we wanted to go on Saturday and be there when it opened, so we planned the rest of the weekend around those facts. We had a great time! We got some bargains and had some awesome food! We started outside and then went inside. As we were leaving, you could tell it was getting more busy. I could see how the inside can be overwhelming when there's more people there. So if you are worried about crowds, maybe start inside first before it gets too crowded and then move outside. We enjoyed the variety of items that are available. We didn't purchase any produce because we were staying in a hotel and still had another day before returning home and didn't want it to sit in the hot car. But if that wasn't the case, we would have purchased some because the prices were incredible and the items looked top notch! There are a lot of vendors that have multiple stands, so yes, you do get repetition of products, but that's ok. Any time you are thrifting I feel like you need to go into it with an open mind. If you want something in particular, you probably won't find it. But if there's nothing you are specifically looking for, then you will take the time to look at items and still find things you want. My son got some great deals on a Bluetooth speaker, croc charms (who knew they were so popular! seemed like every other stand had some!) and sports hats. This place made me think of that episode of Trailer Park Boys (great show, if you haven't seen it) where Ricky throws a bunch of crap on the lawn and calls it Garbageland. After a few years of living in Milwaukee, I had never managed to make it down to this place. It appears on enough of those "50 Things to do in Wisconsin" types of lists that I figured I should finally see what it's all about,so I loaded up the car with a few friends and headed on down. From the parking lot to the furthest corners of the market, this place is very crowded. I expected lots of people, but the inside bit exceeded expectations. You're packed in there like sardines in a can. There are deals to be found. I walked out with a grill for $25 and a friend of mine dropped some money on a bunch of collectible coins and bills, but the majority of the stuff here is complete garbage. No, literally, it's like the vendors all walked into an old garage and just threw everything in boxes...loose nuts and bolts included. There's no way to explain it clearly to someone who hasn't seen it. Many of the vendors price things very highly. I'm sorry, there's no way I'm paying you $50 for a drill with concrete residue all over it from the previous owner. Even if they are willing to negotiate the price down, the minimums were still too high for most of the equipment. There are diamonds in the rough, though. We found one stall where a very nice woman was selling crocheted blankets and hats and dolls for rock bottom prices (my girlfriend crochets, and remarked to me that the woman was probably only breaking even based on the cost of materials), and we found another place with cool little carved turtles and stuff at reasonable prices. The most irritating thing is that vendors seem to just abandon their areas. There were several times where I wanted to make an offer on something but no one was around to take my money. Hell, a dishonest person could walk around pretending to work at some of the stalls that have been abandoned, taking any offer for anything there. All together, I'm glad I went to see the fair for the people-watching, but I wouldn't go for any other reason. read more

We wandered into what USED to be quite an assembly of farmers and flea market items on Saturday, Feb. 26th. Hey, didja ever wonder where gangstahs go to buy those L.A. style hoodies and street thug outerwear? Here. Nothing but dollar store items and a crowd that often looked us up and down wondering what these whitebread middle-aged people were doing in their turf. It sure wasn't to buy fake handguns with laser sites that I watched a lardy young lad playing with (two, in fact) siting people in the crowd. Cute, isn't it? And putting aside the grimy VHS tapes for a few bucks and the knock-off cartoon charactered blankets and childwear, I suddenly knew that we weren't in Schaumburg anymore, Toto. Unsalted parking made the ice terrible to track over; admission is light, I had to hold onto Mrs. B as we slid across to our car and hustled out... and apologized for it all, opting for a short drive north the the Potowatomi Casino instead (more on THAT elsewhere). The 7 Mile Fair may host farmers and sweet-as-cider people in summer: I wouldn't know, but Jesus Christ, never, ever again. read more

I'm so thankful we got neither rabies nor tetanus at our visit to the 7 Mile Fair. I gladly paid my $1.50 to enter the instant comedy that unfolded before my eyes. So much junk, on the inside, but the outside were where the treasures were at. Swords, live chickens (apparently it's legal to sell them in a parking lot), melted Avon lipstick from the early 90s. The highlight, however, was the most attractive young female they could find in all of Wisconsin, driving around a little scooter with an attached cooler full of beverages, while playing a recorded song that went a little something like this; "Pepsi! Diet Pepsi! WatER!! Mountain DEW! 7 Mile Fair.. 7 Mile Fair... 7 Mile Fair, 7 Mile FAIR!" We still can't get the tune out of our head. read more

I went for the first time in about fifteen years.. As a child, I sort of vaguely remember 7 Mile Fair selling lots of produce, animals, even some live poultry that made it a fun and unique place to visit, but maybe that was just me being idealistic. They might as well just call it "Mexican Rummage Sale" because that's all it is. 90% dirty, used junk, 5% grimy produce, and 5% stolen speakers. Extremely crowded with sick people coughing and snotting all over all the food in sight, children sticking their hands into bins of seeds and nuts. A man offered to cut me up a nopal while smoking a cigarette. Oh, also, you get to PAY for this experience. Avoid buying anything here that doesn't have a peel. This place would be a health inspector's worst nightmare. read more

It's safe and well maintained, better than most flea markets I've been to so it deserves 2 stars for that much. Can't get enough of the $1 costume jewelry and inexpensive fruits: case of mangos for $5! Another star :) I prefer to go during the spring-summer months because vendors fill the outdoor space; selling everything from chickens to rabbits, birds, and puppies. 7 mile fair is just a flea market with a fancier name. I expected much better for some reason.After passing this place for years I made it a special trip. I felt very out of place quickly coming from the north shore. The inside vendors sold lots of the same items but nothing was impressive or a bargain in my opinion. It was kind of depressing actually. Never again! The pony rides were on cement...you think grass or something right? We also saw birds in very small cages, which seemed wrong! Went to 7 Mile Fair today! Haven't been here since 1988. Still crowded...saw a lot of cheap, second quality merchandise. Many booths had "all sales final...no returns." That makes me feel very uneasy. I'm sure there are some great deals...but not many. One guy had a cockatoo for sale. He wanted $1500 for it, but it looks like it wasn't taken care of. Sweet pearl, what is this place? My gent and I like to take spur-of-the-moment trips when we don't have a whole lot planned and last weekend's destination was the 7 Mile Fair. I have one memory of it as a kid, and that is of getting a green and yellow toy parasol and declining the offer of a hot dog at a concession stand. The building is easy to spot and the parking lot is huge. There's a window to purchase admission outside, or you can go into the atrium to the right to purchase indoors. When we went, it was $2 per adult. There are two large buildings housing row after row of vendors. We thought it'd be more of a flea market with varied junk and collectibles, but in reality it's a lot of repetition of the same few things: eBay bulk items, shoes & cowboy boots, quinceañera/confirmation/baptism dresses, repackaged bulk foods, speakers, industrial-sized dispensers of laundry soap, make-up, and personal care supplies. Posted prices are few and far between. Haggling seems to be encouraged, but I didn't want to engage if things weren't even in the ballpark of what I'd be willing to pay (hint: not much!). At several points in our loop of the grounds I had other people walking way, way too close behind me - I shouldn't be able to feel someone breathing on me. Things of particular horror: eyeglasses that appeared to be used/recycled, bulk foods repackaged in zip-top bags, a bucket of unwrapped bar soap, and aggressive teens trying to spray me with knock-off perfume. Within about ten minutes we were aware this was a waste of a trip, but I had perused their website before and found a coupon for free game tokens for their midway area. We decided to redeem it since we'd driven an hour and a half and paid admission. Many of the games were relics from my childhood or before; one involves throwing balls into a large woman's mouth to feed her and get her as heavy as possible. I don't think such things would fly today. Your best bet are things like skee-ball and air hockey; any "games of chance" like the Addams Family coin drop or trying to buzz in on a flashing light give you one chance and the game is over within ten seconds. Avoid the ball toss where you try to knock down little clowns - the balls they have out are meant for a ball pit and are not heavy to knock the pins down. The eight free coins we got between us yielded 35 tickets, enough to "buy" a small plastic snake that's about four inches long. Wheee! Overall, I would not recommend making a trip out if you don't live nearby, but maybe I'll check it out again in another 25 years. read more

we love this place! My grandkids- two teens and a younger one, save their money to buy hard to find items. There are huge plush blankets that are just beautiful, and a very talented spray paint artist who paints on shirts, etc. The food is so good! I cant leave here without a frozen mango treat (made with fresh fruit, yum!) and fresh roasted corn in a cup. My only complaint is that they are not open every day. As many time as they said no selling of animals.... I keep seeing Puppy sales! Ive complained and commented for years upon years.. and finally they stopped the sales...from what i was told and saw........... BUUUUUT... actions speak louder than words..and last time i was there they had free kittens outside... it was like January!!!!!! My sister had gone a few weeks ago and they have rottweiler puppies for SALE. and the time i went one salesperson had dogs squished in a cage! I saw an animal shelter there last time. Not sure if they are there every weekend but that is such an awesome idea of having rescued animals and not sales! I also dont think they knew about the sales because I asked the lady that was there and she said that the Fair stopped animal sales and said they were promoting rescue. Great for the fair and great for the animals they have if it were true.... I even got to do their "hug a pup" for 2.00. I got my puppy fix/cuddle/kisses and they told me that 2.00 vaccinated the puppy I was holding. It felt so good to know that! I wont be going back though until they stand by their word! and I hope others follow me until they stick to their no sales of animals policy! I will be telling all my friends and family to not go to this fair either. Why is it so hard to not have sales? I have gone to other fairs that have that rule. All flea markets are a complete crap shoot, it depends what kind of stuff you're looking for. So I grade them primarily on safety, variety, size and food. The grades for this place are good on safety, at no time did I feel unsafe , but there really wasn't any security presence. Variety scores a very good , there were alot of shops , but many had identical items. Yet there were people selling live animals, produce, and enough unique items to warrant such a high grade. They score a great for it's size , because it is huge. They have two large buildings chock full of vender's and food stands. In the nicer weather they have massive parking lots full of vendors. As for food, I have to give them a pretty good. They had a few stands in strategic locations, and the food wasn't too bad ... for flea market food anyway. I think compared to how they used to run 7 mile fair, its deteriorating now. I defiantly like some of the bargains they have for certain items, but then again like someone said alotve it is fake. Its defiantly not somewhere id go all the time but maybe 2 times a year wouldnt hurt to stock up on hoodies and pants for cheap. I know some of the security team, and they are always quick to respond to any sortve disturbance, ive never felt unsafe there, there nice people.
