I'm one time I couldn't open up a bag of sunflower seeds that I purchased and the sweet cashier behind the counter pulled out this tool specifically for opening bags and opened it for me. Another time I couldn't get my gas cap off and Mr. Drew came out to the gas pump and provided assistance. Th e store, parking lot and bathrooms are always clean. I don't know if any of you have a favorite gas station to go to, but this one is mine.

But I've got to say it may be worth the additional distance after a few visits the past month. Let's go through some highlights as related to compare with other area Kroger's, first they are a Marketplace which means they carry more than groceries. They have a good home goods selection. Something I found unique was the amount of Carhartt merchandise. I mean a lot! They also have the third largest wine and beer selection in Virginia Beach, it's massive! They offera larger inventory in every department and seem to have items I cannot find on Republic, or Shore stores. I had an interaction with the manager regarding a specialty beer they have had in the past, but did not have. She was helpful and apologized. Overall the store is impressive. Although my update remains neutral, it been seven years. The grocery ishuge, it's organized and clean. I will likely work the Holland Kroger store in my rotation.

Plenty of parking and the parking lot is well lit at night. It is typically well kept and inside the store is clean. Bathrooms available and a Starbucks inside. The one thing that annoys me about this location is that at night they solely rely on self checkout and will only have one employee there and everything moves so slow. The line gets so backed up, it's painful so I always try to avoid coming here after 8pm. It is also hit or miss with the staff's helpfulness/friendliness. Definitely way better to shop here first thing in the morning but that's typical with most grocery stores.

However, there are more negative than positive and this is not a station I frequent. First of all why does yelp refuse to change the name. It's not Racetrac, it's Raceway. When asking yelp to change they reviewed it and left it the same. So if your looking for Racetrac you will not find it. So there are two listings, same address and my reviews identical. There is often debris in the area, not significant, but enough. The clientele at this fueling station would rather throw down trash by the pumps then put it in the can...go figure. The pump I most recently used had a missing enter button. That is an issue when it is required for a response to hit "enter" and your unsure where it is. I also like to use AMEX and they do not accept it. What is more frustrating is they do not have signs saying what they do accept. So when it said see the attendant I had no idea why. The attendant was with a customer and talking on his wireless head piece. I would not have been happy if I was that customer. He informed me NO AMEX. If I'm in the area okay if I must. But I will not go out of my way.

I went into the store and purchased $45.00 worth of premium gas a bag of chips. I went in instead of paying at the pump because my debit card and bank account was hacked 2 weeks ago. The night before this incident, the last time my card was used was me purchasing gas at the pump. I completed my purchase, walked to the passenger side of my truck, which will automatically unlock as long as my key is on me. The truck unlocked, I put my purse and my chips on the seat and closed the door. Little did I know, I had just locked myself out of the truck. I finished pumping my gas, walked back in and asked the lady behind the counter, if I could use the phone as I had just locked myself out of my vehicle. She did "Not" hesitate to hand me the store phone, I called my husband to bring the spare key....no problem!!! She even allowed me to stay inside the store because it is in the lower 50's and it's cold outside. She was very nice and I want to thank her from the bottom of my heart! So you may be asking what the problem is.......I decided to walk outside and wait on my husband, I had been waiting on my husband for over an hour. My hubby did tell me that he was just leaving the hardware store and needed to go home first to retrieve the key to my vehicle. I walked back into the store and asked one of the two men that was standing behind the counter if I could use the phone? The first one said no and then he asked the other one if I could use phone and he said no! I explained to him the situation and also told him that the lady who was previously here had allowed me to use the phone, he still said no because it would cost the store for me to make a local phone call! A young man who works for Fed Ex over heard the conversation, I turned around and asked him if I could use his phone and he said no problem mam and gave me his phone! I called my husband and he showed up 5 minutes later. By this time I was furious! So, I can patronize your business but you could not help me, a women, by myself, all of my belongings locked up in the truck and you couldn't patronize me enough to let me make a phone call! They do have pretty much everything one would expect from a 7-11 or other modern convenience store. The store is neat and clean and staff is always friendly and helpful. Everything inside and outside appears to be in good working order. The two entry / exit points are right turn only on Kempsville Road heading east and Butts Station Road heading south. The parking lot appears well-maintained and generally free of debris.
