This place is so insane, and disgusting. Don't come here. I walked in to apply for part time work,…read moreand there was a line. So, I walked over to the magazines, thinking I might thumb through something while I wait, there was not a single normal magazine there. It was all porn. The bottom rack being filled with gay porn DVDs right at a child's eye level. Those DVDs are not covered, the covers of which display gay men in homosexual sex acts. I realize that not everyone believes homosexuality to be a sin, but even if it was depicting married straight couples in non sinful sex acts, I still wouldn't want that to be brazenly displayed at a level where a small child could see it. That's not even sane. Then as I was walking out, they have a whole display of bongs. I ran out of that disgusting store like Satan himself was chasing me. Needless to say I did not apply there, and needless to say I will not be going back ever, and I strongly encourage others to steer clear.

This is a very real addiction, but a semi-healthy one. So how does the modern day barbecue junky get his fix at a reasonable price? Cash & Carry, that is how. These guys carry the best cuts to barbecue from ribs to pork shoulders to briskets to tri-tip beef and even more than that. Every national holiday like July 4th, Labor Day or the Super Bowl you will find me here a day before picking up large chunks of meat to smoke, low and slow. Why here? The prices here are insanely low! Rock bottom, subterranean, lower than the Titanic, low. But is meat the only thing they carry here? Absolutely not! It's a smaller, saner version of Costco really. Canned goods (number 10 cans!), drinks, coffee (but no Keurig Cups), seasonings, candy, cleaning supplies and cooking supplies. Everything for restaurants basically but available to you with membership. If you have never come to see what they offer it is worth the trip to any of the Portland area stores. If you are a Southern California escapee like most of us then you knew this place as Smart & Final down there. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go mind the smoker and make sure baby-back ribs get their apple juice spritz.
