Some restaurants serve food…read more La Belle French Bakery serves edible works of art. The moment you walk through the door, it's obvious this isn't a place that cuts corners. Between the pastry case that looks like it belongs in a museum and croissants so perfectly golden brown they almost appear artificial, every item seems to have been crafted with an almost unreasonable amount of care. I ordered the breakfast croissant, a black coffee, and a blueberry muffin. Now, I firmly believe a bakery's coffee should be judged the same way a singer is judged performing acoustically: no fancy tricks, no backup dancers, nowhere to hide. If your black coffee is excellent, everything else is built on a strong foundation. Thankfully, La Belle passed that test with flying colors. The breakfast croissant somehow managed to be both delicately flaky and impossibly soft at the same time. Every bite left a trail of evidence on my shirt that I regret absolutely none of. I'm fairly certain the croissant received more quality control inspections than my first apartment. The blueberry muffin was equally impressive, striking that magical balance between homemade comfort and professional craftsmanship. But if I had to describe La Belle in a single word, it would be love. You do not create food this visually stunning and effortlessly delicious unless the people behind it are deeply passionate about what they do. Every pastry, sandwich, dessert, and loaf of bread seemed to radiate the kind of attention to detail normally associated with Swiss watchmakers, NASA engineers, and grandmothers preparing for a family gathering. I've had plenty of delicious meals before. What stood out here wasn't just the flavor - it was the unmistakable feeling that every item was made by people who genuinely care about their craft. The passion wasn't subtle. It practically walked out from behind the counter, introduced itself, and insisted I try another pastry. By the time I left, I had already started recommending La Belle to friends. Between finishing brunch this morning and writing this review tonight, I've probably talked about this bakery more than any reasonable person should. And honestly? I regret nothing. 10/10. I'll absolutely be back.

Surface is very slow The counter person actually forgot our lemonade and I had to go ask for it. The bread on the sandwich was very tough and only toasted on one side. The ratio of ham to bread and cheese was not good. All and all for the sandwich too. The quiche was pretty good. It gets a three. Did not take away any pastries but maybe you could check it out when you stop by

Worst sandwich I have ever had in my whole life!! And I'm old, lol…read more I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese. The menu said it was $7.50. my receipt was for $7.80. I asked the girl at the counter, "why the difference?" She tells me maybe it's a typo!;!?? And that it would be a question for management. I don't see any management here. Also, I wanted cheddar.. apparently that's 80 cents more than cream cheese that comes with the sandwich, not that the menu, nor the girl said anything about that! AND no mention of it, but there's a charge for using a credit card, as well. So my $7.50 sando was nearly $9. And so totally not worth it. I think the bacon was freeze-dried, or something horrible, and definitely overcooked. So it was salty, and too hard for my teeth to chew. Yes, I have my original teeth and there in perfect condition. The pre-constituted egg, or whatever that was, was heated a little, so small it wouldn't even fit on the bagel. Your only bagel options are everything or plain. To justify the most disgusting review I've ever written, I have to explain that I haven't eaten in over a day. I was starving. I found a new place nearby for breakfast, and I will never come here again.

The bookstore and cafe was clean and cozy surrounded by books and more books with lots of cool trinkets to browse. I was a little disappointed though with their limited selection of bakery items and opted for just a cup of coffee and relaxed at a small table. Employee Josie took my pile of used books to get reviewed for possible future credit towards books I can buy later at their shop. Another building on the premises had lots of whimsical items such as socks, jewelry, pins, mugs, etc. I met Deidre that was friendly and helped me pick up out a cat shirt that was so adorable that I just had to buy. The prices are affordable and there's a parking lot plus street parking. The town of Lafayette was artsy and walkable to enjoy after going to the bookstore.

It is a charming little bookstore with an assortment of delicious treats (many gluten-free options) and amazing coffee and tea as well! I had a mocha and my mother had a spicy chai and they were both incredible! The service was fast and friendly. We also picked up a few used books! Highly recommend!
