Not too friendly, yet also not rude, I think maybe just a bit shy. I went here in particular because I saw they had gluten free everything bagels & vegan cream cheese, so I was sooo excited to order it, but unfortunately they did not have any gluten free bagels at that time. I looked around for another GF & DF option, and landed on a couple of hard boiled eggs. Can't go wrong with a hard boiled egg, hehehe! I ordered a cold brew with the sugar free hazelnut & asked for extra syrup, which I soon determined was not necessary. That's a great thing though! It was an amazing sugar free syrup & if you get the SF hazelnut I'd suggest just keeping the amount as is. Their cold brew itself was really yummy too (well from what I could tell because I accidentally asked for too much syrup, hahaha). It is so stinkin' cute inside this shop and I wish I had more time to look around a bit. I definitely plan to go back, and fingers crossed I can try the GF everything bagel next time! I'd love to look around more inside & actually dine in, because it felt wicked cozy! I also love that they offer glassware options for those who dine-in, plus they use compostable items for take-out. Heck yeah! I really recommend checking this place out :)

Good coffee, comfortable seating, reliable WiFi, and a quiet atmosphere during off-peak hours make…read moreAfters Cafe a good spot to try in Squirrel Hill. COFFEE & DRINKS: The black coffee sits between Dunkin' and Starbucks in terms of strength--not weak, but not overly bold either. The Turkish espresso was excellent and came with nice presentation (traditional cups, tray, and utensil). FOOD: Tried the butter croissant, almond croissant, chocolate mousse cake, and Turkish delights (similar to gummy candy). All were fresh and worth ordering. SEATING: 5-7 laptop-friendly spots depending on how you count the larger booths. Mix of booth and table seating, all comfortable for extended sessions. LAPTOP-FRIENDLY: Outlets available in the booth seating and alongside the larger tables. WiFi was reliable. Generally quiet during off-peak hours. ATMOSPHERE: Warm, modern, cozy Mediterranean vibe with earthy colors, soft lighting, and comfy booths. Relaxed environment that's inviting and calm--stylish without being precious or flashy. Conducive to both focus work, dates, and casual meetings. SERVICE: Baristas were friendly and sociable without being intrusive. VALUE: Standard pricing for a quality local cafe. GOOD TO KNOW: Parking can be tricky in Squirrel Hill if you're unfamiliar with the area, but street parking is ample (paid/metered or free with some walking) if you're willing to walk a short distance. Open late. Study-friendly locations near CMU tend to be busier during fall and spring semesters. I'll be back regularly for work sessions.

The Turkish coffee was served in a very unique way. They brought out the general coffee separate from a foam, which you could then mix or drink separately. Very cool, not too bitter, good texture. Bit on the expensive side but not too much. The Turkish delight was also good, but a bit overpriced in my opinion. They come straight from a box. I honestly wanted to try another one of their special drinks, but they were out. I recommend the special menu! The space itself is decently small but nice, and the girl working there was sweet and the spot is open late!

The folks in charge clearly love vinyl as do I, and there are tunes spinning; they have good taste, with classics from the likes of Amy Winehouse and Jeff Buckley. The coffee drinks are made with first rate equipment and they are thoughtful and unique. You'll find ingredients like smoked salt and peppercorn (Smokey Robinson) and delicious specials like a banana caramel latte. Where they really stole my heart was having a full nonalcoholic bar with complex drinks like takes on an espresso martini and old fashioned made with NA spirits. So so good. They are going to rotate food concepts in their kitchen here but first up was Mortadella and I got a veggie sandwich that might be the best I've ever had. It was on a focaccia bread that was beyond to die for. The next time I came I needed that focaccia again and got it by itself. It looks like they are introducing some pastry concepts which I look forward to trying soon.
