Luke Vermiere is so talented. I'm pretty picky with my hair and he's always done a great job. I'm new to the QC and so finding a new stylist was truly daunting. Luke takes great pride in his work and I never feel like he's rushing to get me out of the chair to get to the next client. Great conversation always, too, which is nice lol The facility itself has a relaxing and upscale ambience but with the ultimate perk of extremely reasonable prices. Everyone is super friendly on top of it all. I have not been anywhere else to this day! read more

I had a "hair emergency" needing color and cut when my long-time stylist was ill. I sought out area Goldwell color salons and found Five Star. Brody did a fantastic job! Great color match and I LOVE the cut. He definitely has the talent for hair. I highly recommend Brody for stylist, and Five Star salon. Quality salon and wonderfully designed space and atmosphere. I'm so relieved to find them. I searched online and it's so hard to find updated experiences, so I hope this helps someone else. read more

Got my hair cut and style with Josh. Amazing! My hair survived the insane humidity. I always come in when I'm in town visiting the quad cities. The salon has great vibes and super kind staff, been coming here for years read more

Fantastic! Following all CDC guidelines. Felt very safe. Keep up the good work! Friendly staff, beautiful environment, great service. I was in good hands. read more

I've been going here since I moved to the Quad Cities area and I'm a fan. The ambiance is really first rate. Frankly I was surprised to find such a quality salon in the area of cows and corn (no offense Quad Cities - but seriously, this city *just* got an Ulta and Sephora a few months ago - not really progressive in the beauty category now is it?). Deana is my stylist and I can't complain at all. She takes the time to get to the bottom of my hair woes and always finds a workable solution. She's talked me down from the ledge a few times too. I've also had a cut from Dustin and he was great too - but Deana's my main gal. The prices for hair cuts are also very reasonable For the talent level I find the prices to be downright cheap. The spa is also deluxe, but I find the price for spa services and waxing is also deluxe so I've opted to go elsewhere for those services. read more

I live in Chicago and just had an Iowa wedding. I must admit, I was a little nervous when booking appts for hair/make-up. I got the name of the salon from a message board and decided I'd try my luck. Me and my wedding party had SO much fun. Not only are the girls talented, but the place is adorable. Megan did my hair and matched the picture I brought in EXACTLY. Also, Nasreen did a fabulous job with my make-up. Plus, free mimosas! read more

I have been going to Five Star Salon Spa since it moved to the East Village location a number of years ago. I first went to them while living in Chicago and wanted to find a better place for my mother to have her hair and skin care done. They were the ONLY Spa that came up in the online searches at the time. After gifting her a full day at the salon and spa she continues to love their services. Since I am not in the QC full time I have seen many of their stylist's and esthetician's. They are constantly working to bring you the best service, and products to support your beauty efforts. Some of the stand-out people are Jeffrey, Dustin, Karla and Megan. This isn't Chicago but they rival many of the salons I tried while living there. If you are from out of town - they are a safe choice and if you need a new place - you will see some great service. read more

Decided to try Five Star out for a manicure. Figured it would be excellent since this is a higher end salon for the Quad Cities. Tricia is very sweet but my manicure looks totally unprofessional. It looks like I tried to do it myself. So disappointed. :( Just trying to decide whether to call and have the one SUPER messed up nail redone or just cut my losses... ****FOLLOW UP*** So I called and spoke with Toni and she was incredibly gracious about the whole situation. Assured me that I did the right thing by calling and that they always want customer satisfaction. Offered to fix it at no charge and scheduled me in for the next day. I really appreciate that Toni was not defensive and went out of her way to make sure I was happy. I rarely complain about anything so this was a very pleasant experience. :) read more

Fantastic service! Kristen cut my hair and from start to finish it was perfect. She has a keen eye for detail, and assesses exactly what it needed. Product recommendations were spot on without over suggesting. Definitely recommend! read more

When I moved to the QCA I was looking for a salon, particularly a stylist that was familiar with curly hair. I emailed 5ive Star after finding their website online and received a quick response. Kelly was my stylist at 5ive Star and she was amazing! She was familiar with the curly girl method and Deva Curl Cutting techniques, which was perfect for me! I never expected to find someone with her kind of knowledge in the QC. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars, she was kind, personable, and I could tell she really cared about giving me a cut that I would love. The salon itself is beautifully decorated and feels very high-end, but the prices are reasonable. Before my cut, I was given a free consultation and after the cut Kelly asked me to come back a week later for a complimentary bang trim and to touch up any areas that needed it. Overall, an amazing experience, and this will be my new salon home! read more

My friend made appointments at the salon for her wedding. We are from the Chicagoland area, but are familiar with the Quad Cities from college and had heard good things about this salon. In August we came out for the hair and makeup trial. Overall, the hair trial turned out well, but the makeup trial did not. The aesthetician was standoffish and was not receptive to our opinions. We eventually decided to not have our makeup done at the salon and do it ourself, but kept the hair appointments for the day of the wedding. Kelly did my hair for the wedding and she did truly an amazing job. My appointment was at 9:00 and Kelly was right on time. My friend, the bride, had her appointment with a different stylist at 9:45. Her previous client ran way over time -- over 20 minutes, which is a BIG deal the day of your wedding. At the 20 minute mark my friend decided she would rather do her own hair than run the risk of being late for her own wedding. As my friend canceled her appointment, the stylist finished with her previous client. She apologized for being late, but was not seemingly sincere and did not check in with us prior to that time to let us know she was running late. I asked the front desk personnel to have a manager call me so I could discuss the matter. I haven't heard from anyone and it has been two weeks. Overall, it seems like the work they perform here is good quality, but the salon is lacking in terms of professionalism. I definitely would not recommend this salon for a wedding day. My two stars are for Kelly who did an absolutely amazing job on my hair. read more

I wish I could choose 0 stars. I booked them for my wedding (I live in Chicago and was recommended this place). They were to come out for my wedding on September 15th and do hair and make up. I scheduled an appointment for late July when I was in town for a shower to get a trial. I showed up, my stylist was late, she smelled of booze, and then asked me why i was there and why I needed an up do that day. I was livid but decided that maybe she was having a bad day and I would deal with it. She couldn't complete the do, started taking it out and i told her that i wanted to keep the trial in for my shower and she was like oh, well I hardly have any time left, so i'll just pin it up quickly. She had no time because she was late to meet me obviously. Anyways, I was charged $70 and she told me she wanted me to come back for one more trial, since paying $70 again would be worth it. I checked out. I went back to Chicago. I called to check in about the wedding and to see if there was potentially another stylist that could switch out spots since she wasn't that great. They said they would call back. They didn't. I called back the next day. The put me on hold for about 5 minute and then got on the phone to say my stylist had quit and that they can't come out for the wedding anymore. I asked if someone else could, they said no. They said they had to cancel the whole thing even though it was booked in February. I demanded my money back from my trial (they didn't offer, I demanded). Since it was less than 2 months from my wedding, I told them I wouldn't be able to find someone to come out this late. They said they would give me some recommendations which they did. None of them worked out and I still cannot find anyone to come out to do hair or make up. They didn't offer to give me a gift certificate, and even though I called and tried to talk to the owner more than 3-4 times, he never called me back. I always had to talk to the manager. Poor poor poor business. I'm pretty social, and I am spreading this everywhere. I've told every single salon I have talked to and I am hoping they all repeat it to everyone they encounter. Sucks to be you 1 star salon. read more

I live in Chicago and spent a day here while my husband was at a convention in town. David gives an amazing massage - he gets 5 stars! Tricia did my mani/pedi and blowout. She's a sweet girl but has no business charging money for mani/pedis, much less charging as much as the fantastic massage. It was *maybe a $30 mani/pedi. Way way way overpriced at $70. The blowout was fine, nothing spectacular. She gets 2 stars, 1 for quality and 1 for her nice personality. The salon itself IS very nicely decorated, though I would not compare it to Chicago salons. The relaxation room couches were not real relaxing and the pedicure bench was awkward and kind of hurt my back. It gets 3 stars. read more

I feel like I'm in a big city when I go here! Everything looks so professional and urban. It's definitely a step up from every other salon in the area. If you're willing to pay the prices, go here. Lindsey does my nails, love her! read more

I am from out of town and was in desperate need of a haircut. They squeezed me in with Brian. I have seen my fair share of stylists (I work in the hair industry), but none were as attentive as Brian. He took his time giving me a thorough shampoo and I didn't feel rushed. He offered suggestions for my haircut and knew exactly what he was doing. When he was blowing my hair dry another stylist came over to assist. It was very nice to see teamwork in a salon in order to get me taken care of. The salon is 5 hours from my house, but I will definitely stop back in for another cut! The atmosphere is amazing! read more

I've been to 5 Star a few times and I always like their cuts. Mandy is my favorite but after trying to schedule and appointment for almost a month now I've given up. I always call during normal business hours and seldom do they answer the phone. The receptionist are rude and unhelpful on the phone when they actually pick up. I've decided to take my business elsewhere even though I'll miss Mandy. Too bad 5 Star's receptionist are unprofessional. read more

Oh my god--pompous stylist. Took my 8 year old son there, he got Deana, and he took a grand total of TWO MINUTES deciding between two haircuts before she cranked out this gem directed AT HIM (an 8 year old): "You need to decide, because I have other people to see." Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize we weren't considered AN APPOINTMENT. That was about a year ago. I made a random appointment for myself, ended up getting Deana again. I asked for toner for my blonde, she flat out told me "no." This would be okay if there was a REASON for it, but her reason was: "I don't think so." Um, okay, guess I'm not in control of my own look. I was unpleasantly surprised when she started to yank!!! my foils out. Taking the high road, I very politely told her my head was really tender/sensitive and I even smiled apologetically (like it was my fault). Her response was to snap and say "Well, I have to get them out, this is just how it's going to be." I said nothing more, tolerated the rest of my appointment, and left. Mentioned the experience to some friends at a gathering and another woman perked up. We started comparing notes and she informed me she'd seen the same stylist once. Her comment? "She's just mean." Yeah, no kidding. read more

Best salon in the area! All of the people who work here are among the best at what they do, while still being warm, friendly and accommodating. The space is beautiful and relaxing. I usually just get my hair cut, but I always leave feeling so much better! read more

We are on a river cruise and my elderly mom wanted a shampoo and blow dry. They were professional and did a great job. Nice salon, tastefully decorated. The stylists were young and were doing contemporary cuts and color, but they showed their versatility by doing "old lady hair"! read more

Most of the stylists here are great, and do fine work. The problem with this salon lies with the reception department. It tends to be a cluster when checking in or trying to settle up. It makes for a cold welcoming, and an awkward first impression. They also need to do something about the atmosphere. It's very cold and the flow is awkward. The warmth and comfort level that most people appreciate when going to a spa is damaged by their crude attempt at being a "big city" salon. I love my stylist, and will continue to visit him at 5star because he does a fantastic job! read more

5 Star salon is the very best. I have never left there without some random person saying how great my hair looks. Thanks Brian! From the time you are greeted by the gorgeous Toni until the time you leave you are in the best possible hands. We are fortunate to have a salon like this here. Jennifer Sharp read more

I have come here many of times for hair cut/color. I have never been here for the spa services. I always went to Mandy and she did a great job. The decor is very nice, the sell a lot of nice products, and I always thought it was pretty professional. It is expensive, but most places to get a quality cut and color are I have found. read more

The last time I went to 5IVE Star Salon Spa the other day, the staff were just finishing up a training that was being led by a guy from New York who apparently works directly underneath a man named Oribe, whose products they sell at the salon. It was really cool to walk in and see the staff all excited about this training, and it felt like this was "the place to be" to have access to the top stylists who have their finger on the pulse of new techniques and trends. I love the warm greeting I always get when I walk in the door and how I always feel taken care of by the friendly front desk staff. I also love how the salon feels hip and alive in the downstairs part of the building, but also how the upstairs spa feels like a completely different world, where I can relax, unwind, and get pampered with a massage, or a facial, or a pedicure. They always seem to be upgrading and redesigning parts of the salon itself, so it's always fun to see what they're up to when I go in for a service. I highly recommend making this your home for spa and beauty services in the Quad Cities. read more

After my one-star review, I received a very customer oriented message from the owner. Obviously, a cool and classy businessman who cares about his customers and the reputation of his staff, and for that I'm amending my star rating to four because of the other wonderful qualities of this salon. Although he has one careless stylist that has more mood swings than Tom Cruise on a yellow couch, it's very clear he's keen to maintain not only the quantity, but the QUALITY of his business and eager to create solutions instead of rancor. That's wonderful and I appreciate the extended effort, particularly in today's society when "the customer comes first" is a dying, act-less rarity. Thanks Jeffrey. read more

I have been going to Five Star for many years and it is the very best in the Quad Cities. I have tried other hot new salons and I always go back to Five Star. The atmosphere is always enjoyable and the stylists are the very best, along with the customer service. I would highly recommend it! read more

Five Star is top notch and absolutely the best in the Quad Cities. It is such a treat every time I get my hair cut. Toni is usually behind the counter and always greets me with such hospitality. I've never had a stylist show up late for an appointment which is a pet peeve of mine. My stylist always takes the time to listen to what I'm looking for and takes his time styling it after the cut so I leave feeling sufficiently pampered. The salon has a level of professionalism that sets them above the rest. read more

I've had one massage and it was great, but trying to get in for a mani or pedi with my daughter is nearly impossible. Also cannot seem to get in for a facial. I have called to see what openings they had probably about 10 times, but have only been able to make their scheduling work once. They have a great reputation... I just wish I didn't have to go somewhere else because of their limited schedule. read more

A little overpriced. I was charged llike 30 dollars for a childs haircut? The same guy used to charge like 15 at another place he worked a few months prior. They seem to be big on bumping people up levels to charge more. Nice guy, did a good job, but seriously 30 dollars for a kids cut? The salon is cute but very crowded. Kind of felt like I was at a bar. Cute or not, I wiont be back if Ive being overcharged. I did get a massage there once too as a present from my husband. It was the one where they walk on you with their feet. Yuck! Felt like cold wet feet and I was sick the next day because the pressure was too much! read more

5IVE Star Salon Spa is Awesome! I have been going to barbers all of my life. I am a bargain hunter and shopped based on price for years, this was a big mistake! I can't believe how much I passed by because I was to cheep to treat myself once in a while! I am getting up in my years (probably more behind me than in front) so the grey was popping through more so than the blonde of my youth. My girlfriend suggested I go and have it colored (she told me I MUST). This was not even remotely in my thought process! I was embarrassed to go to a "Spa Salon" but I went because she is one whom must be obeyed!! ;u). The first time was weird and I was embarrassed to go, but it felt good like riding a moped, it is a bunch of fun but you don't want your biker buddies to see you do it. It has been 6 months now and I look forward to every visit, I even got a massage there. People I have known for years say "you look 10 years younger". At my reunion I was complemented and girls that didn't look at me twice in high school were now my long lost best friends. The staff there is the best and I find myself walking out of there with a smile on my face feeling like a million bucks! I guarantee you it is worth the money. Give them a try you will be happy you did! read more
