The place has a hole in the wall vibe and was not busy on the evening I stopped by. I received a…read moreserving of chips and salsa up front, and decided to compliment them with a horchata that I did not need, but which immediately convinced me that this place uses some proper ingredients based on its slightly bubblegum-like taste that is distinctive to the region. My pupusas came with an excellent set of accompaniments and were bursting with flavor. The cheese was a bit on the salty side, but the beans were delicious, and the distinctive mix of textures you get when you combine a freshly grilled pupusa with the lightly fermented cabbage distinctive to the cuisine is excellent. There were some herbal notes in there, and the salsa was brightly flavored. It really is a fascinating mix of flavors distinctive to the Americas. Also a lot of food for the money. While the menu had a handful of vegetarian options, some of their staples were not offered this way and it seemed to be they could be with ease. And I would really like to see them do some dairy-free options and those beans and some vegetables would make a pupusa that I think people would want.

Run don't walk, Radford!! Compared to what I have eaten here in Radford during my previous stays,…read morethis is a godsend! Authentic homemade flavors served with smiles! Cute unassuming spot off of West Main St, I was greeted warmly by the hostess. The service was quick and soon I found myself staring down Al pastor tacos. We ordered the sweet plantains and al pastor tacos and the pork gorditas. Everything was generously stuffed with meat! The plantains we soft and sweet though a few were slightly burnt but overall they were a treat. The corn tortillas didn't hold up to the generous portion of meat in the Al pastor tacos but the flavors were there. My only complaint is that there isn't a good spicy red or green salsa to pour on top, but this is a Salvadoran place so I'm sure that's more the specialty. The gorditas were fat and satisfying. All in all, this is a gem of a place for Radford and if you feel like it would be a little new for you, take the plunge! It's a must try.

This little place has been open for awhile now, and today seemed like a good time to give the food…read morea try. The menu is fairly broad, and they offer both Salvadoran and Mexican choices. We opted some of both with a little more emphasis on the Salvadoran. Our choices were: Platillo Tipico (a Salvadoran Plate with a Chicken Tamal, a Pork & Cheese Pupusa, Tuca, Fried Plantain, Pastelito, & Sour Cream - $10.99), Carne Asada (with Rice & Beans - $11.99), Caldo de Mariscos (Seafood Soup - $12.90), One Beef Burrito, One Taco & One Enchilada Combo ($6.99), One Enchilada, One Beef Burrito & Chile Relleno Combo ($ 6.99). There was a lot of items to sample, and it was really a mixed bag, but more negative than positive. The Bad - the Chicken Tamal was awful, and the Pastelito was not much better - both were dry and bland. The Seafood Soup lacks freshness, smelled and tasted old! The OK, just OK - the Pupusa, Plantains, Carne Asada, Beef Burrito, Chicken Enchilada, Fried Yucca, Rice & Beans. The Good (not Great) - Chicken Taco, and the Chile Relleno. Not even close to enough to bring me back here - too much excellent food of this style is available.

To be honest this place looks more like a bar/lounge. The only good thing that tasted good was the Salvadorian horchata.
