I buy ALL our waterproof/down/ UV resistant / breathable summer and winter clothing and comfort footwear (urban city and rugged outdoors) for the entire family from REI. My Seattle born father climbed the Cascades and Tetons and took us camping hiking canoeing in New York's beautiful Adirondacks each year then cross country to Bryce, Zion, the Tetons, northern rim of the Grand Canyon, Black Hills, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley 60 years ago. I hitchhiked at age 20 with friends from San Francisco to Vancouver with a 70 lb backpack then took the Canadian National train ( now gone )via Jasper all the way to above Detroit. What is especially fabulous about REI's HUGE selection of products ( online) is the top TOP quality of new innovative materials, deep thought/care in manufacture by many of these once tiny companies, and outstanding long long wear and durability. Washing cleaning all these items is easy thanks to their excellent cleaning products. REI, a Co-operative, has not sacrificed resourcing the very best quality they can locate. They have not become a "mass marketer" like once excellent LL Bean. Instead REI relies very heavily upon their hundreds of consumer product reviews ( which I meticulously read before any purchase). REI genuinely LISTENS to their consumer base!! AND!!! Their online frequent sales, some short unexpected, are legendary! I did 70% of all my Xmas shopping at REI - - great stocking stuffers too. I became addicted to their 10 grams of protein ProBars 20 years ago- - a must have for all my trips. Enjoy!

I had a flat tire and was told it would take at least 7 days to fix and maybe more because I had the service plan and to contact the company to cover the repair may take longer. A flat tire takes about 15 minutes to fix. Dicks is not the place to go for bike repair.

This is a complaint and warning about Dick's Sporting Goods in Sarasota Florida. I was…read moreunfortunately misled into purchasing a product that is not legal in the league where I play and, when I returned it, would not be accepted for a refund or credit toward the purchase of a legal product. Just to get me out of the store, they suggested that I reach out to the manufacturer and ask them to facilitate the exchange. I was incredulous, of course, because one would never expect a manufacturer to facilitate the exchange of a product that was sold through either misguided or self-serving misrepresentation by one of its retailers. Indeed, I just heard back from the manufacturer who said that they will only exchange a bat with the defects. I am not even going to bother to take this back to Dick's because I know I would get upset and nobody wants to get upset about being ripped off when they're holding a baseball bat. The product I am referring to is a softball bat for the Senior League of Sarasota. When I explained what I needed and what league I was in, Dick's employee told me to buy a senior softball bat that is a certified 1.20. When I got to the first game in the league, I was told the bat needed to be a 1.21. When I returned to Dick's with proof of purchase and the bat in perfectly good shape (virtually unused) they would not issue a refund or credit. They said they would not do so because the wrapper had been removed and yet several bats were for sale on the rack without wrappers. The bat that I have is no use to me. I have since learned through an internet chat on the Dicks website that Dick's does not even carry the type of bat that I want, which certainly adds to the suspicion that the sale was made so the guy would get a commission or some kind of sales credit rather than send me empty handed to another store. I have been a long-time customer of Dick's and had even bought another product at the same time as I bought the bat. We often shopped for clothes. Now I'm going to give the brand new bat to Goodwill, spend $100 or more on the type bat that is legal for our league, and suffer the $89 loss that Dick's has foisted upon me. I had always Associated the retail chain with good customer service, a nice product selection, and a sufficient level of quality and service expertise, as well as product selection, that the higher prices are worth it. It goes without saying that I will never shop there again and I have spent the time, plus $89, to write this negative review and warning to you. If you trust them to give you informed service, to be accountable for their mistakes, and to stand behind you economically when you are counting on them, your trust is not well placed with Dick's Sporting Goods, at least not in Sarasota.
