I've had facial redness for years now, and my dermatologist confirmed that it was sun damage. I didn't think there was anything that could be done about it, since the dermo kind of shrugged it (and my other concern of a raised bump on my nose) off. Fast forward a few months: a coworker had said something about a treatment that she had done to combat sun damage. My ears perked up and I asked her for more information. Long story short, she referred me to Sandra at Skincare Company Spa. I had my third IPL about 4 weeks ago, and I'm seeing legitimate improvements in my skin: so much cheek redness has already gone away. I never thought this was possible! I'm hoping that a fourth treatment can make a bigger dent in the cheek redness that I have. Some brown spots (that I thought were freckles!) lifted and my skin is smoother than it's ever been. Years of pox marks and cystic acne scars have also lessened. Sandra also targeted some keratosis the last time - AKA that strange bump on my nose that my dermatologist shrugged off as not being important enough to address. Sandra absolutely knows skin! She is thorough and knowledgeable about cultural/geographic implications of skin. On my 1st visit, I shared what I knew (that I was primarily Irish), but by the last/3rd visit, after I'd had two prior treatments, we discussed the specifics of my skin and how the characteristics of my skin indicated that there's more to it than just Irish. I pulled up my (updated) Ancestry, which I hadn't looked at in years, and my results aligned with what Sandra was saying. I learned so much from Sandra, which I love. In July of 2018 I decided to stop dying my hair and let my natural gray hair grow out, which was a tough decision from the get go. I'm naturally very gray and my dyed hair was very dark brown, so the skunk strip on my head was hard to look at. After researching "how to transition to gray" I thought I should "feather" the gray rather than just let it grow. So I consulted a colorist who recommended highlights around my crown. I ended up looking like I had the mange. Some gray, some light brown/orangey blond, and some remaining dark brown box color under neath. It wasn't an improvement so for or the next few months I thought it was best to avoid further color adjustments and simply grow out my hair. So I walked around for months with a multi colored mess. People looking at me and wondering why or telling me I was "brave". Fast forward to yesterday 3/14/19 I was in to see Chiara for a cut with my my daughter who was having her hair highlighted. During my appointment while she was cutting my hair, and as my daughter's highlights processed, Chiara casually said..."you know we could lift the color and dye your hair silver, it would blend better with your gray grow out." Fortunately the person who had the appointment after mine, cancelled, so Chiara was able to launch right in and do corrective color. I can't believe how happy I am with the end result. I wish I had consulted Chiara at the outset of my gray hair grow-out journey. My Hair is now a cool modern silvery gray that blends seamlessly with my natural gray hair. I love my hair color so much and can now grow it out confidently. I won't have to endure people looking askance and wondering why I would let my hair look so horrible. Arriving at 1:55pm, I was greeted and seated. 2:30pm rolls around I'm still waiting when it hit 2:50pm I asked Carlos how much longer and he said about 5 minutes (which was 10 minutes) and I was fuming by the time I got to the hairstylist seat. He kindly explained to me that because I called in for same day appointment I would naturally have to wait, which I wish he would of told me beforehand and I would of made an appointment a different day, whatever, after 10 minutes or so I cooled off. I've been going to Carlos for about 2 years now and loved every cut he gave me besides this most recent one. He took off about 2-3 inches and cut my front a little shorter than I would like and my hair looks really "choppy." With fine, straight hair the choppiness is noticeable. After about a week my hair grew a tiny bit and helped with this weirdness, but I'm kind of disappointed since I had asked Carlos about a pair of scissors he was using and he said it was to thin out people's hair/reduce the choppiness look, unfortunately for me he didn't use it enough, but overall I still like my cut, simple and layered. I won't let my haircut stray me from this place especially since it's only $15 for a women's haircut! And the whole scheduling thing I'm sure can be fix or I'll just make sure to go on a weekday.
