This place is an absolute scam…read more You're paying unbelievable amounts of money to live in a place that looks nice.. and that's it. The staff is rude, the management is awful and if you have something wrong with your apartment, it will never get fixed. I lived here for 2 years and finally moved out of that hellhole. Here's a list of reasons you don't want to live here. You're going to be paying an insane amount of money for the incredibly small amount of space you get. If your dishwasher breaks.. good luck it won't get fixed. If anything breaks for that matter, a maintenance person will come look at it, and then never come back. The elevators are constantly broken, if you live on one of the top floors, you're going to be waiting a very long time for the elevator to get to you. Oh the pool looks nice right? No it's disgusting. They clean it once when it opens up and then they never touch it again. It's green, and absolutely disgusting. You want your packages that you paid for right? Nah they'll probably get stolen. And you'd think the staff would be helpful about that? No, they just say file a police report if it matters that much to you. They say they'll check the cameras, and then nothing ever comes of it. And here's the worst thing. When it finally comes time to move out, and you've cleaned up your entire apartment and made sure everything looks nice, they'll charge you $1000 or more, and give no reasoning. They probably saw a small little mark on the wall and were like "well this seems like $1000 worth of damages! Let's go mess this persons entire month up by charging them that." If you want to live here for over $1000 a month, get a tiny room, and tiny common area space, and MAYBE free pizza once a month, be my guest. But if you don't want to get absolutely scammed, trust me.... STAY AWAY FROM ASCEND RVA!!!!!

This American Landmark property, they took over in July 2022. The property manager and the staff do…read morenot care about the property or the residents. We have had issues with them from poor landscaping, dog poop on sidewalks and in the parking lots , (huge piles). All the way to having vagrants living in the stairwell, running drugs, and being arrested and trespassed, to them coming back in the building, and threatening residents, and the property management and American Landmark did nothing to resolve the issue. I had to contact the police. And then we've had issues where our renters insurance not showing on the resident portal. And from speaking with other residents this was a known issue and we confirmed that the manager was aware but they had the assistant manager calling individuals and threatening to charge them penalties and fees if the insurance was not posted. Overall: On a good day this staff is condescending and on most days, their actions show they do not care. We had over 20 vehicles broken into in one week. The parking lot lights were out. Residents stated to the police that they had informed the property's management team that they had been out for months. We weren't asking for a guard to be posted. But we do have a resident portal and it allows the property management team to send out alerts or communications to residents. The prior manager and team, would send out alerts stating "please make sure your vehicles are locked, windows up, and remove all valuables, to limit damages to vehicles from thefts." We only asked them to send out alerts or communications so residents are aware of issues. And they continued not to send out alerts unless it's how to use their payment system or to alert you to pay before the 5th. They only care to add anything to your bill, we have to pay a fee for the trash fairy, and we have to pay a fee for a dumpster, we have to pay for the package lockers(and many packages are stolen from being left out). They have let this property decline and it is so sad. As we have seen many of our fellow residents who've lived here for 3-6 years rapid leave with the deterioration of this community.
