I enjoyed the facility and the environment so much that I simply froze my membership rather than canceling when I went on maternity leave. Unfortunately, my experience shifted from positive to deeply disappointing the moment life got complicated. My account was automatically unfrozen and charged without a single email or notification. To make matters worse, I was unexpectedly laid off following my maternity leave. As a new mother navigating the stress of job loss and a newborn, I embarked on the embarrassing and painful task of reaching out to businesses to cancel subscriptions and see if they'd be willing to help out in even a small way. Every other company I dealt with offered some form of grace (discount) or an exception (waived fee) for extenuating circumstances. Not Anytime Fitness. Despite explaining my situation-- crying on the phone to an employee because the owner didn't even offer to speak with me and deliver the news themselves-- I was told, "You have to understand, they're running a business." They refused to waive or even discount the $150 cancellation fee. I've run a business. I understand overhead. But I also understand that "sticking to your guns" over $150 at the cost of adding insult to injury to a loyal customer going through a family crisis (not to mention humiliating circumstance) is short-sighted. That $150 means very little to their bottom line, but it meant the world to my family right now. I truly loved this gym, but I will never be an AF customer again. They chose a one-time fee over treating a person like a person. If you value a business that shows empathy during life's hardest moments, you may want to consider another option.

Also on the phone, Skylar knows how to answer any sort of question with full attention and detail. So sweet and kind, the management did a great job on who to hire. Also, another individual that deserves credit is named Lucas. Why I gave this review 3/5 stars was because some of the rules regarding the pool deck seemed a little bit too far fetched for those who have had swimming lessons. The music also tends to repeat itself after an hour in the gym, which is not fun for those who get songs stuck in their head easily! Other than that, the common gym rats are found and gym drama is at all an all time high. So if you know people in Hagerstown, your name will be said at sometime, anytime.
