Used duct tape to tape up tarp, left it for weeks, then put hundreds of staples in the fence and house to keep the tarp up.
Amber L.

I would describe the last 9 weeks as nothing short of a horrific nightmare experience at the hands of 4 Sons Concrete and Landscaping, also known as Nelson's Concrete Mason Design. Learn from us, don't trust or hire this company and the owner. Safe yourself the pain, money and extra money you'll need to fix their "work". Nelson Tatufu bid it as "three week job." We called them off the job on week 9 and with ZERO confidence in them to do any work or make any repairs without causing more problems and/or damage. The below is only a small representation of the issues we are now facing. Bids to fix all the damage that was done is currently at 10k and counting to our yard, house and brand new fence. Concrete -Concrete was poorly poured, lines are not straight and sloppy "patches" that don't match were poured to cover up previous mistakes. -House, fence, driveway and yard are splattered with concrete. -Concrete ramp connecting to sidewalk is too steep. -Dog run areas - which should look the same - have different gap spacings. Decking -Do not believe them when they say they can build anything for you. They can't do concrete, let alone a building project. -Deck was poorly measured and did not line-up with our request. It is wider than we asked for and that resulted in contractor sawing a hole in a window box that should have never been touched to accommodate the railing. The cut was so sloppy that it exposed the interior of our walls. -Mr. Tatufu's crew re-used old boards that had been used previously as concrete forms as the supporting structure for our new deck. -Support beams and stair stringer were not pressure treated wood so they would never last in wet, Seattle weather. Plus, they were already cracked with chunks of wood falling off them. -The deck boards were damaged with numerous misplaced and removed screws. -The deck boards did not feel firm under the feet because they had not been properly secured to the base. Also, the base wasn't secure. -Loose sections of railings have already fallen off the deck. Very dangerous situation! -New railings are scratched and damaged do the crew leaving them out, and throwing them around for weeks. -Railings along both deck and stairs are loose with missing bolts and very unsafe. -Railings on stairs are not lined up with each other and one side is longer than the other resulting in a loose handrail that is unsafe. -Countless, uneven, jagged, saw cuts on deck enclosure. Other Issues -Removed a fruit tree without our permission just so they could park their truck. -House siding was damaged with tape residue, screws and staples. Screws and staples are still covering the fence and house siding. House will need to be repainted. -Fence gates were removed and re-installed not in-line with the fence. -Fence sections were removed and left leaning against walls resulting in fence board bending and looking awful. -Gate latch re-installed upside-down after removal. -Post cap missing from fence post. -Contractor dismantled outdoor tortoise enclosure area without permission and are lucky to have not killed the tortoise. -Constantly late and frequent cancellations even after asking us to block off street parking for multiple days in a row. -Artificial turf is not properly secured in many areas, and the cuts are almost comical how horrible they are. -Kept asking for more money beyond the initial agreement. -Caused more damage and issues every time their crew came to "fix" past issues. -Complete lack of care taken with our house and yard. The mess is unimaginable we are facing. -Nelson brought his children on multiple days to the job site, and they were here well past 10pm and asked to use our house multiple times for water, bathroom breaks. They could be found laying in the yard among the mess of job site. Completely unsafe and a huge liability. Heard enough? Get a load of the photos, it is what nightmares are made of.

Nelson Tatafu and his family at 4 sons concrete and landscaping did an incredible job with concrete work on all four sides of my house!! The bid was very reasonable and the work was top notch! Nelson and his crew were very fast, friendly, efficient, and accommodating. I would highly recommend 4 sons concrete to everyone looking to get concrete and landscaping work done right!!

I am very, very happy with the new patio Jose and team installed. They are an excellent company to…read morework with for the following reasons: QUALITY - paver layout is beautiful, & they installed extra gravel & drainage pipes to address my "swamp" COMMUNICATION - I always knew exactly what was happening, when the workers/trucks would be here. Before work began, Jose responded promptly to my requests for changes in design, gave detailed drawings &estimates PRICE - it was a very fair price, and lower than the other bid I got for a simple rectangular design DESIGN - my requirements were a bigger patio that covers up the swamp. Jose came up with a plan that has curves to fit in well with the curves in my existing landscape, plus the swamp is gone! He gave me advice on which sizes of pavers would work well in the design. PROFESSIONALISM - every day the team was on time and left the area cleaned up. They laid and re-laid pavers until they were satisfied with the look. They spent a lot of time leveling and fixing places where water pooled on my lawn/old patio. They improved the downspout drains and crawlspace vents. Call them for your project, you'll be glad you did!

After 2 years living in our Issaquah rambler, we were tired of our grubby back yard. With a very…read moresloping hillside slumping into it, the constant roll of rocks, and puddling of runoff made the space not very enjoyable. Our small deck, and a big dirt patch was also not a clean or functional space for us or our dog - so it was time for a change. Once we set our minds to investing in a renovation, I met with 7 (yes 7!) concrete, rockery, and paver providers to discuss the projected heat their ideas, and solicit quotes. A number of the providers were visionless, one was rude, and another was wildly expensive (twice as much as any of the others). Enter Jose and J Zamora Construction. While my initial vision for the space was admittedly to have a concrete patio, with a paver retaining wall - after meeting with Jose, my mind changed. In the most genuine and non-pressuring tone possible, he educated me about the benefits of using pavers (repairability, less cracking risk, better drainage, etc). That, combined with both his understanding of the challenges of my property, as well as his unique lense on a design for our space - made Jose a stand out. I also greatly appreciated that when I expressed specific wishes, he did not take offense when those ideas didn't align with his initial recommendation. When some providers acted put-off when I said "I don't want to take out this tree" (etc.), Jose took it in stride and offered solutions rather than trying to convince me that my preference was unreasonable. After viewing our property, he was prompt, kind, and fair in his quote to us. His documentation was thorough and clear. That, along with his truly aesthetically, and functionally minded vision for our space convinced me to completely pivot from "I'm doing concrete", to "let's go with pavers". After hiring Jose, he recommended products that suited our combined vision for my yard, was transparent about potential overages, and ultimately executed a project that is beyond my dreams for our difficult space. His crew of 6 busted their behinds for 4 solid days to crack it out. They were prompt, respectful of my property and neighbors; and thorough in their daily, and end of project cleanup. They even went above and beyond to carefully re-lay our dog's invisible fence line, which was displaced in the underground drainage portion of our project. Ultimately, we're left with the addition of nearly 1000 square feet to our livable space. An area that started as a grubby dirt patch has become a clean and stunning use of space. It flows with the natural landscape, and looks cohesive with our very mid century home. We have had neighbors (known to us and new introductions) stop by with their jaws on the floor - one even saying "you've made this yard the showpiece of the mountain". Once we paint the house - our sweet little rambler will be perfection - and we have Jose to thank for so much of our exterior transformation. Other over the top service notes: -Rock disposal recycling run -Bark delivery after project completion -Spreading bark over worn front yard after completion

They installed pavers, overlaid our patio paver, built a retaining wall to level the terrain, installed turf and stepping stones/ gravels, and still assembled/ connected and installed pergolas on a concrete foundation (not mentioning junk removal, gate height adjustment and an extra turf for our dog). Their work exceeded our expectations in every way. Super attentive to details. Couldn't recommend more! ---

Jody was very polite and accommodating to our schedule. Turf quote was comparable to what we quoted ourselves during our DIY effort. Labor seemed pricy, but I have nothing to compare it to. They did send about 2-3 guys to do the job.... and they got a 450 sq ft area done within 2 days, as they had estimated. Upon completion, the team cleaned up very well... no mess, no dirt on our driveway. I noticed they laid down some cover along our walking path while they performed the job. We did ask for 2 quotes.... The first was higher than planned, so we ask for a requote for a smaller area. Jody was very understanding and prepared another quote. We thought about it again.... and really didn't want the dirt that would need to be maintained, and knew our beagle would want to run in the entire area.... so we decided to go with the initial full quote. WE'RE GLAD WE DID! our beagle loves running throughout the whole turf'd area! and he stays clean!!! Turned out it rained hard this weekend. No problem! Turf drained well... no mushiness under the shoes. Got dirt on the turf?...just flick the grass and the dirt seem to bounce out. We didn't talk about it, but our yard had a few drain features. The crew didn't just cover up the features... they did the right thing and put cutouts in the turn to leave the features exposed. Good call team. They moved one of the two trees as requested. Re-planted well, and left a nice clean cutout and base at the trees. Turf tucked in pretty tight. Love it. :)

Saw someone with their shirt on walking around the local nursery that we purchased our plants from…read moreand they also happened to be one of the businesses the nursery recommended to reach out to for help with planting what we purchased. Called on 9/7 and spoke with Jesus to schedule for an estimate for planting as well as a small retaining wall to be be built. They scheduled the estimate for 9/10 between 6-7pm. At 6:36 received a call from Jesus saying Rafael couldn't find our address on a map. When I had him read back the address he had mis typed the street (not even close) so got that fixed and was told he might be 30 minutes late and asked if it would be ok still. I confirmed that worked. 7:40pm it was starting to get dark and I called Jesus back right as Rafael arrived. Showed him the work to be done, he took some measurements and asked me to email them the plants and sizes of each that we needed planted and I asked how quickly they could have the estimate ready and he said pretty quick once they had the plant information. I also asked how far out they were scheduling for the work we needed and Rafael said 2-3 weeks. Morning of 9/12 I emailed a detailed list of the plants. 9/13 no reply to my email still so I called and left a voicemail asking if they would be able to send the estimate by noon the next day; I received an email reply that evening stating they will be creating a "fair quote with the information" I gave for the project. 9/14 I called again and got their voicemail and left a message. After I left the message on 9/14 I reached out to a couple more landscapers via Yelp and had 2 more come out for quotes for work, both of which were very prompt in reply, visit, and providing the estimates. It has now been 3 weeks and still no estimate or any further communication from GreenThumb. So they get 2 stars for actually showing up to take information for the estimate and their single reply via email. I can't really say what their pricing is like compared to the other two because we still don't have the estimate. They really need to work on their ability to prioritize and set expectations. I would have been fine if they said "we don't have the bandwidth for this work right now" or "it might take us a week to get you an estimate" but again, still 3 weeks later with no estimate. The planting part is all done and at least I now know who NOT to reach out to for any future work that we need.

We are absolutely thrilled with our experience with Rainier Rockeries! Our project was a 2-tiered…read moreretaining wall, about 25ft long. Overview: I started by sending pictures and a description of the job I wanted done. Angel responded saying they could do the job and he could come by within the week to check out the area and provide a quote. Angel's quote was similar to the others I received, BUT he was bringing an excavator when others would have been working manually. That means he could get the work done quicker without cutting any corners! The Estimate: Angel gave me an estimate, we agreed he'd get the job, and we signed some paperwork to that effect. He told me they'd be able to start the first week of November, and that's exactly what happened! There was some delay because of weather, but Angel was excellent with communication and made sure I knew what was going on. He wouldn't want to start digging when it was wet and the base of the retaining wall wouldn't be stable. The Work: The team of 2 that did most of the work were great. We couldn't believe how much they got done the first day! Angel came by at least once every day of the project and made sure that the project was being built the way we had talked about. When something wasn't going to work, or there was a better way of doing something, Angel would stop progress and either explain why, or ask if I had a preference when there were options. The People: Angel is great. He is very personable and cares a lot about doing a great job. When he gives the estimate, he shows off recent jobs on his phone, and he beams with pride. He stopped progress once to ask me about an idea to build steps down the side of the retaining wall. We love it! We appreciate that he didn't just take the job and do it, but he thought creatively as the job progressed -- like an artist. His crew are professionals and did a fantastic job. The Money: Of course you want to know about the money. Every job will have its own considerations. If you try to get 5 companies for a quote, 2 won't respond, and 3 will show up to give you a quote. Rainier Rockeries will show and be competitive. Not only that, but Angel tried very hard to keep the price of the job at the estimate he gave me. He threw in some fill dirt, gave me a discount on extra blocks outside the scope of the job, and pulled out some tree stumps (which would have been way too hard without the excavator). He didn't change the price on me at all, even though it cut in to his profit on my job. He is happy to sign documentation when a payment is made. If you have any questions, feel free to message me on Yelp. TLDR: - They are straightforward, fair, and transparent - The work they do is excellent - They show up on time and on budget - Communication is excellent! (a rarity for contractors)
