We went on a Saturday night to see Donna The Buffalo. A very clean and yet intimate performance space, excellent sound and sight lines. We like to stand and move around for music so we loved it. Some who needed seats were less than ecstatic as their views were blocked, but that is just an FYI. Sometimes it is the staff and attitude that sets things part, and this is true for this venue. The folks are friendly, accommodating and have the right attitude. I confess. I did something I was not supposed to do. I was a skofflaw, even if by accident. AND I got "caught". My bad. They handled it all with humor and grace and were accommodating. We were laughing about it at the end, and it could easily have gotten ugly elsewhere. Well done! read more

We went to see Couch perform at 3S Artspace. When I had bought the tickets about a month earlier, I phoned the place and told them I had some health issues that precluded me from standing throughout the concert. I was told there are chairs reserved for people with disabilities, and my wife and I could sit in those chairs. When we got there, we learned that the chairs are on the floor situated about ten feet from the stage. Knowing there would be people standing in front of the chairs blocking our ability to see the concert, I asked if the chairs could be moved closer. I was given a lame excuse why they could not, regarding the access to the stairs to the right of the stage. The truth is that the chairs could have been placed close to the stage on the left side, where there are no stairs, but 3S Artspace apparently prefers the optics of standing, non-disabled people next to the stage. So, the truth is that as long as you are able-bodied and willing to stand through a 4-hour show, then 3S Artspace is fine for you. But if you have any mobility impairment, you should seek out a different venue. read more

What a great little venue for an intimate show. Great lighting and awesome acoustics. Seating was awkward but I can understand why. The only complaint that I have is that the restaurant next door was very loud and a few times interfered with the performer. Otherwise a neat little spot! The restaurant looked good and we will definitely try it out sometime. read more

Incredible staff and venue space! One for the books. They even have an incredible brunch menu with live music (sometimes). Service and staff are wonderful along the art gallery space :) A truly unique space to check out or frequent often! Awesome :) read more

This place is amazing.... I went to see a music performance here and was knocked out by the professional waitstaff, mod atmosphere and intimate performance space. Every detail of a great experience for the visitor is thought out thoroughly. I can't wait to go back! read more

The venue is nice but my wife and I were charged for 22 drinks, when we only had 10 over a 4 hour period of an event we were at. Bartender just implied we were drunk, and removed 2 drinks... Because of the event I don't mind paying for someone else, but I will never use a card here again. read more

3S has become my go-to venue. Over the last year I've seen a dozen bands/artists, a few films, comedy and some art. I really appreciate the variety of events- the calendar has some of my favorite artists as well as some names I'm getting to know better through my ears. Even the obscure acts I've seen that I wasn't familiar with have been a good time. There's no bad place to stand inside, no bad place for a seat. As a resident of a town 10+ miles away that 3S is indeed worth the trek and no evening I've had at thus far has disappointed. read more

A great alternative arts space in downtown Portsmouth. You can go to the restaurant, which is progressive & affordable. They host all sorts of events from blistering rock shows to cool art events and presentations. The facility also has a large, well curated, installation gallery that exhibits work to challenge the viewer. If you are visiting Portsmouth, be sure to check them out. 3S Artspace is a nonprofit organization and deserving of any support you can give them. read more

I had one of the worst nights of my life at the artspace. My friends and I planned for months to attend a concert there. We were enjoying the concert a lot when suddenly my friend was aggressively grabbed by the arm and dragged out by a staff member with no explanation why. She tried getting back in and was disrespected by the staff. Her night was completely ruined and so was mine. I will never recommend or attend a concert at this venue again. So disappointed in this service. I genuinely hope nobody else has to ever go through what we went through. read more

I went last night for the Mission of Burma show, so I can only rate it as a performance space. Great set up, chairs lining the back walls so there were some sitting options (I notice lot of music venue reviews complain about lack of chairs). Great sound, cool intimate venue. I didn't drink so I have no idea what the prices would be, but tickets prices seem reasonable for the acts they get. For parking, there was plenty of free street parking, and lots of people seemed to use the bank (?) lot across the street. They also have an adjacent $1 per hour lot. Even the merch table was set up well, so it was right next to the door, but without blocking people trying to leave. read more

Whoa! Drove here from Boston to see a show and now I want to find excuse after excuse to come back. Menu was surprisingly unique, and the Caprese sandwich was very good. Drinks were a little on the pricey side, but that was kind of expected, and when you're sitting on a couch in a dining area, it's worth it. Performance space was very intimate and sounded great. read more

the venue is great. But the menu is lacking. it is hard for a vegetarian to cobble together a full meal on little expensive dishes.

They are impossible to deal with. I tried to rent their space. and months went by without anyone contacting me. For a non profit group, they don't want paid rentals or money evidently read more
