It hit all the checkmarks for us. Even after a day old it was still reallly good. Server was also super helpful in getting us suggestion for another specialty drink. We avoided the sweeter ones so landed on the London smog latte with steamed oat milk, 2 shots of expresso, earl gray and cane syrup. The earl gray flavor was just perfect with the coffee and oat aroma. One of the best flavors coffee we've had. After the tea got steeped for a while it got a bit too strong but I still liked it at a lot. I love that it's aromatic without being overpowered by sweetness.

What has set Paradiso apart from other coffee spots in town has always been the vibe; serving up a warm and welcoming spot to enjoy your drink and hang for a few. Up until recently the staff have always been friendly and attentive. Things have been going downhill for a couple months, but the last few weeks have been particularly egregious. A majority of the friendly and familiar faces that made this place so beloved have been replaced in recent weeks with rude and indifferent staff members. Recently I've had a half dozen instances of drinks made incorrectly (nothing fancy, just steamed milk and tea), or having to repeatedly ask for food I ordered, etc. and then being treated like I'm an imposition for asking to correct the issue. Many of the staff seem to pick and choose who they're polite to, to the point that I no longer feel personally welcome. I think I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on.

The balance of water and espresso prolonged the enjoyment of the coffee without becoming watered down. (Tread lightly with the brewed coffee. It gets a little old in the urn.) This is not a specialty coffee place. You come here because it is quiet in the old, stone building, and because the coffee is cheaper than at the specialty shop. But the best reason to shop here if you are a tea lover like me is that their tea selection is incredibly cheap. Other reviewers have not emphasized the price aspect of things enough, so here are some numbers: Regular black teas cost around $1.00/oz (~$0.10/cup). Given that there is no minimum purchase (you bag your own tea in whatever quantity you desire), you can go in, buy 1-2 oz. of several different teas that catch your eye, and then come back later to buy your favorites in larger quantities. Decaf teas are maybe twice as expensive - not as great of a bargain, but not too bad. Of course you can splurge on silver needle white if that's your thing, but that's not the main attraction here. It seems they get quite a few teas from Market Spice in Seattle, which means you can buy the famous Market Spice cinnamon-orange blend in bulk and then brew it so strong it makes your house smell like cinnamon Red Hots. Or you can get Tropical Isle, a black tea beautifully colored with blue cornflowers and yellow calendula leaves that tastes as good as it looks (and makes a great present). Or get the Earl Grey, or the Assam, or jasmine or rooibos or... the list goes on. Come here. Buy some tea at a small fraction of the price you'd pay in the cafes just down the street. And be thankful that a store like this exists in C-U.
