Lunch Special Rules!! This spot might just have the best value lunch in town. For only $12.99, you get a rotating daily special that includes soup, a main, and coffee or tea. Hard to beat in a sit-down restaurant setting. We visited on a Friday and tried the Pork Chop with rice/spaghetti. Two huge chops arrived pan-fried to perfection--tender, juicy, and protein-forward. Any meat lover will walk away happy. We also shared the Curry Beef Brisket with Spaghetti. The brisket was tender, though the curry leaned a little too creamy for my taste. Soups (borscht and cream) were simple but satisfying, exactly what you'd expect in a comforting cafe. The Hong Kong-style milk tea was a highlight--freshly made, strong, and served piping hot. Service was fast and efficient, even though we came just after the lunch rush. The interior is clean, spacious, and welcoming. Highly recommend their lunch special--it's one of the best values you'll find in Scarborough.

Nice to find a HK Western style restaurant. They have a variety of western menu items. Food exceeded expectations. The rack of lamb was cooked nicely and seasoned well. The smoked duck breast was much bigger than expected and filling. Service was friendly and attentive. Restaurant is family friendly as well.

This is a nice spot for western seafood and grill with a bit of East Asian fusion. I've been here twice now and have always found their steaks to be cooked perfectly and of good quality. Most recently I came with a large group and got the tomahawk set menu for 4. The steak was perfectly cooked but I wish they would have sliced it up for us rather than serve it whole with a fork and knife. The meal also came with 2 one-pound lobsters which tasted good but I don't think it was quite 1 pound each. Also on our plate of lobsters only one half had an actual claw. I've also had their German style pork knuckle which was excellent but wish it came with more of the sides to balance out the big portion of meat. Service is attentive and friendly, but was a bit rushed.

2nd time around, I went with my mom for lunch. The restaurant was also quite busy, and we got the last 2-seater table. We ordered the breakfast menu again, and this time I asked for no additional salt on my eggs, and it was PERFECT! My mom really enjoyed her truffle eggs and I got the corn beef scrambled eggs this time - I loved my dish :) The staff are all friendly and courteous as always. The place looks bright and clean. Food and drinks come out quite fast. We will definitely come back again to try the dinner items next time!

Quite a let down as all the dishes we ordered didn't really have great flavour to any of it. Came during lunch and I was surprised that the interior looked pretty nice. It's a modern take on a HK cafe serving pastas and rice dishes. They have a set lunch menu from 11am-3pm that comes with Russian borscht soup and tea or coffee with the food dish. Here's what we got: Borscht soup 3/5 - It was okay. Nothing too spectacular and memorable. A staple for any HK cafe though. Japanese style fried chicken and egg with rice 2/5 - Was not really a fan of this dish. Can probably skip this dish. Ox tongue on rice 3/5 - Looked good. Came with about 4 pieces of ox tongue and a peppery sauce. It was okay. Chicken steak on spaghetti 2/5 - Very bland and tasteless. Although the chicken portion was large, overall the taste was not there. Rose spaghetti 2/5 - It comes with "seafood", but mostly just shrimp, squid and imitation crab meat. This really did not hit the spot at all as the sauce was not that great. Pasta was cooked perfectly though. Service was also spotty with a hit or miss with certain servers walking around. Our server while taking our order decided to greet a walk in and seat them first. Which was odd, since there were other servers just standing around. Unfortunately this place was not it for me and I probably won't be coming back until I see improvement in their reviews from others.

I visited 389 Cozy Restaurant a few nights ago and, unfortunately, was quite disappointed by my experience. We had a reservation for 7:30 PM and arrived at 7:25 PM, but were not seated until 7:40 PM. A couple with the same reservation time who arrived after us was seated before us, possibly due to their familiarity with the staff? We did not receive an apology for the delay; we were simply informed that all seats were occupied. Additionally, while the restaurant is quite dimly lit and most tables are equipped with detachable lamps, our table was the only one without a lamp. Our server didn't check on us throughout dinner, we had to call for her for our order, bill and for some extra water. She was however quite attentive to the the tables around us checking in on them, refilling their water, etc. I partially believe this might be because my partner are younger but we're paying customers and should be treated the same as everyone else. We ordered several dishes, including the Smoked Salmon and Chicken Spaghetti in Cream Sauce, Smoked Salmon Spring Mixed Salad, Grilled Japanese Calamari, and the $10 promotional steak (8 oz) that is usually priced at $38 for a 10 oz portion. I would advise against the smoked salmon salad, which, at $15, contained only three pieces of smoked salmon and a small portion of salad. The grilled calamari, also $15, was good but contained several bones, which was unusual for a restaurant (in my opinion as I've never had bones in my grill calamari anywhere else before). When we inquired about this, our server responded dismissively and appeared annoyed. The only reason why we asked about it was because we had initially thought it was a plastic. Additionally, my steak was more medium than medium rare (it's hard to tell because of the lighting), though I still found it enjoyable. The pasta was well-seasoned and appropriately portioned. Customer service is crucial in the restaurant industry, and unfortunately, we did not feel that we were treated with the courtesy we expected. Given the competitive dining scene in Markham, I hope this establishment can improve its customer service. Based on this disappointing experience, I won't be coming back which is sad because I initially also wanted try their lunch menu.

Came here for dinner after trying to discover new restaurants to try. Servers were super attentive however did not explain the menu very well. Upon seating we were provided menus and was told they only serve dinner at this time during dinner time. I looked at the menu and only saw a couple items on one page ( set menus ) and the flip side being more items. I wasn't sure if she said they were only serving the set menu side so I had to clarify if the flip side also is available to which the answer was yes. After contemplating, we decided to order the pork knuckle (40 min wait time as they mentioned) after seeing another table order it and they said it was good. The menu is not clear for the set menu and very confusing and our server didn't explain properly. I thought it menu only comes with coffee or tea, therefore we ordered garlic bread as a starter and the server failed to mention that the set menu already includes garlic bread as an appetizer and we were shocked when it arrived by the another server who explained " this garlic bread is for set menu and this is your additional order of garlic bread". I was so confused because I wouldn't have ordered if I was told and would've ordered something else as an app. We also were not told soup was included in the set menu until I was reading the menu and asked the other server to clarify if the soup is included and if we had a choice between the two offered, to which the server replied yes. So I asked her to provide us with the Russian soup. Again, the server who took our order failed once again to disclose this or ask us about which one we wanted. Food wise, the pork shoulder was ok, it was fried very crispy however it lacked taste, kind of bland. I would say the menu needs to be more clear for the set menus side as it doesn't have any explanation and kinda confusing or the servers needs to properly explain the set menu to customers. I will be back to try lunch menu as it did intrigue me. But dinner menu was ok.

I was surprised to see that there was a new "HK" styled restaurant opening up in the area - I feel like nowadays they're a rare breed and more often than not either closing down or not very authentic. The interior and atmosphere of the restaurant are very nice. The area's clean, spacious, and servers were very polite. We ordered from the lunch menu, which offered a range of dishes you'd find in a traditional HK cafe like curry rice, eggs and toast, fried rice, etc (though they don't serve baked pork chop rice unfortunately), and each item came with a soup and drink. We got 3 set meals: white sauce with seared fish with hot milk tea and borscht, curry beef over rice with cold lemon tea and cream soup, and a "Japanese" styled pork katsu rice also with hot milk tea and borscht. So for the good - the milk tea tasted pretty strong and wasn't watered down. The borscht had a nice flavour and had a lot of veggies in it, though maybe a bit salty depending on personal preference, and the cream soup was also good. Similarly, the curry rice (has peanut chunks in it) was also tasty and portion size was pretty decent. On the other hand, the cold lemon tea tasted like Brisk/Arizona and the white sauce fish rice portions were tiny and didn't have enough sauce. The pork katsu was dry and flavourless and I think portion size was also a bit on the smaller end. While none of the food nitpicks are a real deal breaker, we probably won't be coming back because the prices are on the higher side - averaging $15-20+ per dish, with our total of 3 meals coming up to $60+. I understand that this is pretty standard nowadays considering we got a drink and soup alongside the food, but there's something that's just missing compared to more traditional cheaper + heartier offerings of other cafes and I'd probably lump 389 into the more inauthentic bucket.

Food was alright, i didn't enjoy the chicken cream of spinach casserole i personally got but everyone else's food at the table was pretty decent! my "cream of spinach" pasta was more like cream and spinach, but i thought the chicken tasted good. also keep in mind that cold drinks are +$1.5 even though it isn't disclosed on the menu (and they charge for take out containers)! would go back to try their dinner menu maybe and one lady gave really great service!

The best thing we ate that night was the complimentary bread - very similar to Yorkshire pudding. The wagyu fried rice was flavourful. The appetizers were mid and the Chef's Tasting steaks were ok albeit served lukewarm. The 30 days aged 32 oz bone in ribeye was extremely disappointing. It was very chewy and difficult to eat. Lots of fat and tough veins in the steak - it was not quality and definitely not worth $302. We didn't even eat half of it. Our server asked us if we wanted to pack it and we said no because it was disappointing and difficult to eat. He likely did not have training on how to respond as he completely ignored the comment, no apologies or further questions and cleared the rest of our table. It was really odd service for a highly rated steakhouse. I personally would not recommend Jacobs & Co and would not dine again here.

They operated for 30 years at their old location. This location soft-opened on 2026-02-12. We came on 2026-02-25 for dinner. There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Citra Terre D'Abruzzo Pinot Grigio - Italy (glass $14.95). 2. Coke. 3. Crab Cakes ($19.95). 4. New Orleans Shrimp Cocktail ($19.95). 5. Jambalaya Aranchini (weekly special). 6. Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037
