My mother, cousin and I had taken a surf lesson with Surf Skate Supply during our vacation to San Clemente. I was told about them after my cousin looked up places to take surf lessons in the San Clemente area. When I called up to inquire about the lessons I spoke with Matt. Matt helped talk us through setting up the date and time for the lesson, the prices for the lesson and, where to meet him and his partner Rick for the lesson and the surfboards and wetsuits. When we arrived at the beach, we met the instructor Rick as well as Matt, who dropped off the boards and suits. Working with Rick was great! I had surfed before, but my mother and cousin had not. Rick gave each of us personal attention and got us surfing in no time. He stayed there the whole time, making sure we didn't get lost in the waves and instructing us on both surfing technique and safety. All in all, it was an excellent experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to grab some surf lessons while in the San Clemente area. Visiting San Clemente for vacation and decided it give surfing a try. Googled surf shops around the area, and one stood out to me because it didn't have a bad review at all. I also saw that delivery of boards was available. So I called the number on the website and spoke directly to Matt regarding board rentals for the next two days. Matt met us on time at the location and was probably the coolest, most down to earth person I've ever met in California. After receiving the boards, Matt even texted me random things through out the day to see how my surfing adventure was going. Things like "paddle paddle paddle" will forever stand out to me now. Let me first start by saying that the logistics we needed met were not an easy task. I came out on a trip with Colorado State University Pueblo and we brought a van full of students for a week long surf trip. Matt was awesome and really helped us out with delivering the boards and picking them up at the end of the week. We had a crazy schedule and he stayed calm and flexible with us and was always helpful. He was also able to point us in the direction of some great beaches where we would be out of the way of locals and able respect that whole aspect. Used to live in Laguna, but now live in Maryland. Brought my 14-year old daughter to see family and she wanted to surf. A friend let us borrow their board but it was way too light for my daughter. Went to 369 Surf and explained that my daughter wanted to surf but the board we had was too light. He knew exactly what my daughter was experiencing. He selected a new board with a cork board top that didn't require wax - which was good. My daughter loved it and was able to get up several times (only 2nd time surfing). She had a blast, and loved the board. We changed our plans so that she could go surfing again the next day, and Matt put the board on a bottom rack so it wouldn't get rented the next day. Randomly walked in to this surf shop not knowing what me and my wife were in for. Met Matt who was awesome. Told him we want to learn to surf. None of us had ever surfed before. Luckily he was having a walk in special so we got a surf board, wet suit, booties and a lesson for a very affordable price. He was super awesome, very very knowledgable about the area, the waves, surfing and everything you need to know about it. With his guidance, we both caught wives pretty quickly. After the lesson, my wife and I stayed and surfed for 4 hours and we both did pretty good I felt. We couldn't have asked for a better teacher/surf shop rental place. Matt has a small operation that is really one-on-one, or rather two-on-two as I went to learn how to surf with my son and he brought a very good instructor (I think her name was Lucy?) with him so we each had a private lesson. He was very personable, local, long time surfer, and really knows his stuff, and Lucy was great too! We got up very quickly and had a blast surfing for a couple hours at a little "private" beach with hardly anyone on it. I definitely want to go again, and Matt gave us the confidence to get out there and do it! His shop is a little space behind a mini-mall next the parking lot in the back. I am brand new to surfing and wanted to introduce my 13 year old son to it as well. I was extremely fortunate to have found Matt for instruction. His enthusiasm and love for surfing is infectious. An extremely patience instructor, he spent 15 minutes interviewing my son, who is a skateboarder, to determine his skill level, showing him how to paddle, and how to stand up. After getting in the water, he had my son on a 5'7" soft top fish. First wave, he just had him just lay on the board and get a feel for the wave. On the second wave, he had my son up and surfing! What an awesome experience! I've been surfing for a few years and my wife has really taken an interest lately, so we capitalized on the left coast (California) while enjoying our 10 year anniversary. We found 369 on their website about a month prior to our arrival. Not only were they very responsive to our calls, they put us on the best boards for this wave, and gave us directions to the hot spots. My wife had her lesson with Ricky and by the time her 2 hour lesson was over, she was dropping faces and cutting lines; like a pro! I recently rented 4 Stand Up Paddleboards from Surf Skate Supply and was so pleased with my entire experience. When I first contacted the store I spoke with Matt who was extremely helpful and explained everything. I had never been SUP so I was at a complete loss but he walked me through the entire process and was super easy to contact whenever I had a question. awesome service and great equipment. we ended up renting two wetsuits which were very clean and in great condition and two hybrid longboards that worked like a charm. it was very easy to get help and matt knew exactly what he was talking about i left feeling very confident in the store. cannot express how easy it was to rent from matt he made sure we had everything we needed, gave us great recommendation based on the tide, and even let us stop by after store hours to pick up our rentals. the store is in walking distance from T-Street and easy to find. i would recommend these rentals to anyone in the area, local or just passing through all around great vibes!! read more

As easy as it gets! I'm a once a year surfer from the mountains so I'm restricted to the rental world. Throw in an extra challenge of a 2.5 month old infant and I'm in need of convenience...and hero waves! These guys made both happen with out needling to even ask. Personalized customer service! Matt was willing to help us by driving the paddleboards down to the beach so we did not need to carry them. Once we were down at the ocean we realized the wind was too strong for us based on our minimal paddle boarding experience. Since we had already paid and couldn't paddle they were kind enough to give us a credit to use at a later date. When we decided to utilize the credit, Matt delivered the paddleboards to my home so my son and I could use them throughout the day at our leisure! I went to San Clemente on vacation for a week with some of my friends and of course ended up going surfing. We rented 4 boards for an entire day and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They are very cheap and they deliver the boards to you at the beach and pick them up at whatever time suits you best. I walked in with a friend and asked about rentals and lessons. Matt's eyes got big, and he turned around saying something about checking the tides. I initially ordered online from SSS and then decided to stop by the shop. I met Matt, the owner, and he was SO helpful! I had so many questions about surfboards and skate boards for my kids and was so clueless. Needless to say, I left there feeling SO much better about what to get them.
