Pratt's Professional Chimney Service

Pratt's Professional Chimney Service

I called Pratt Chimney and Steve came out within a couple of days to give his evaluation. We needed to have the chimney repaired, attic restoration for water damage, and drywall replacement and painting done. Steve worked us into their cramped schedule in order to prevent further damage as much as possible. Work was scheduled to start a couple of weeks after the estimate. Because heavy rain was expected before the scheduled work start date, Pratt came our and secured a tarp over the chimney areas to prevent further damage. Brad and his assistant were amazing, courteous, and hard working, completing the job with the required follow-up to allow concrete to set properly, perform water testing, et al. The thorough water test of the chimney and the flashing around it revealed further leak points which required full replacement of the flashing by a Pratt Sub-contractor. Final test showed no leaks. I was then able to schedule the other repairs that were required to complete the attic and room drywall damage abatement. One other thing, the original work was completed in June 2020 [I thought that I had entered a review at that time, but it appears that I did not :-(]. In May, 2022, We noticed water dripping in the basement from an apparent leak around a sewer vent pipe [not associated with the chimney]. I called Pratt to see whether I could get their sub-contractor who did the flashing on our chimney to repair this job. He was not available to me, so Steve sent one of his guys out [another super courteous young man], who went on the roof and caulked around the vent pipe, as well as the exposed nail heads there and around the attic vents. All I can say is that I would recommend Pratt's Chimney without hesitation!!!

Andrew, our technician, was diligent and very successful in removing soot from our beautiful limestone fireplace. He understood the challenge and complexity besides being very tidy in the process. Kudos to Pratt's. You can't go wrong hiring them. Many Thanks!!!

Not the cheapest, but a very good option in Near North suburbs or far north Chicago neighborhoods if you really care about quality. Not perfect, but about as good as you'll find these days.

Our century-old brick needed…read moreconsiderable work, with all the mortar being ground out and redone, as well as new lintels, several rows of replaced brick (where previous homeowners had done the wrong thing, resulting in whole rows sagging and collapsing the top of the window), and even a chimney rebuild. From quote to start was more than a year (due to other constraints), and once started the project took several weeks with a lot of scheduling nuances and coordination with other things. Eric and his team did a fantastic job throughout. The crew was friendly and respectful and their work was and is impeccable. Eric was over-the-top communicative both before, during, and after the project. All little issues were resolved immediately, often going above and beyond. We were particularly impressed with how well Eric and his team worked with the older brick, which requires special care and mortar. Even *matching* old brick is quite hard because the size is different from modern brick and there aren't many companies which make it, meaning color options are quite limited. Eric did a fantastic job and I think most people would struggle to pick out the new from the old. Highly recommend for any masonry work.

A little over a year ago, after meeting with a few paving companies for my driveway, I selected…read moreManuel and his company because they were easy to talk to, professional on time, and were ready to get started and get the project done. Previously I did not have a driveway - just two gravel tracks. Manuel and his crew were done within DAYS, were super organized (the rest of my yard was literally untouched), and it looks amazing. My garage is set wayyyy back detached from my house, so it is a very long driveway - it's been over a year, and we love it. Several neighbors have asked for his info, even leaving notes in my mailbox, and everyone agrees that I brought up the whole block's value. This is a long-term investment that has already started to pay off. I'll also add that my village, in spite of my permit application being sent in in November, did not tell me until two months later in January that they were going to tear up my street, the gutters, and that everyone's apron (including my brand new beautiful apron) would be destroyed, to be fixed at my own expense. I reached out to Manuel, and without even telling me, the crew came and completely reset my paver apron once the road was done, just out of kindness. Talk about customer service, even after the project was done - thank you to you and your crew again, Manuel! Highly recommend all around for any size project you need.

We were quoted ahead of time for the job and Manuel stuck to the invoice and was very professional. This was a significant job, so we obtained quotes from several different masons. John's quote was by far the most thorough, and most importantly he put the most care into selecting a mortar that matched our historical brick, both in terms of composition and softness, as well as aesthetics and color. The end result is that Brick and Stone's work blends seamlessly into the areas where the original mortar is still in place. Beyond the quality of the work, John was very transparent and up-front with his estimate, and in the end actually came in under budget because the work required was not as extensive as anticipated. His crew was a pleasure to have around the home, and left things neat and tidy at the end of the day. Brick and Stone was not the least expensive option among those we considered, but I feel we got very good value for our money, and the kind of high-quality work we want done on our "forever" home.

John at Brick & Stone Restoration was the ONLY one that had the historical restoration expertise required to appropriately restore our home. Over the past century the outside of our home had many improper repairs done with Portland cement. These were temporary solutions that have caused further damage by the time we moved in. Brick and Stone Restoration's work was historically accurate and aesthetically perfect. I can honestly say we've never had a more professional, higher quality caliber of contractors work on our home over the past few years - and we've had many! Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed. - Nick Casali.
