The books are organized very well, its easy the find the latest and recent releases. You know how some comic shops have everything scattered and clumped together...not the case here. The owner was super helpful and friendly. Most importantly they have a TON of back issues; but I didn't have time to search through but I certainly will on my next visit.

I brought a buddy of mine in here today because I'm pretty sure he thought I was exaggerating about how bad this place is. I've been in here about 3-4 times before and each time was worse than the last. The first time I was in here was almost a year ago. I asked the fella working if he could order a comic book for me. He messed with the computer for a few minutes and then told me it was ordered. For the next few months, I either called or went in and asked about the status of said book. I'm still waiting for that book. This place is an absolute mess. It's dirty and there is no order for anything. Today was the final time I will step foot in this store though. There were a few guys in the back, playing magic or some other card game. The fact that they were playing is not the issue. The fact that they were loud and almost every word out of their mouths was some curse word or the "N" word is the issue. Everyone swears, I get it. But a customer was in there with his young son. I personally would've said something if my child was in there and that was going on. Anyway, a few mins after being there, about 8 or 9 books fell off the over stacked shelf. The customer jokingly said "I didn't do it" and the worker replied "it happens all the time" as he continued standing behind the counter, playing on his phone. Some other customer had to pick the books up. He obviously has no care in the world for this shop and frankly that's sad. My buddy was thumbing through the back issues that he could actually get to and started pulling out books that were ridiculously overpriced. They were damaged and disgusting. One in particular had a coffee ring on its cover. Others had destroyed covers that should've been in the nickle bin. This place needs a complete overhaul and a worker who actually takes pride in their shop.

I loved that the inside had a dedicated gaming area for people to come and enjoy with friends of family. There were at least three groups playing games when I visited. That's where the good times stopped. For about 8 months I had a an account there and every time I went in the clerk struggled to even find my comics. Worse, EVERY month, there were several books missing from my order. I complained after a couple months but the poor service continued. I was given a new excuse though every month which didn't help. I also ordered things out of the monthly previews which never managed to show up. When I asked about it, I never did any kind of response.

My husband ended up purchasing the first volume of the Static Shock comic.  Keep in mind they don't come with the frame it is displayed in.  If you want one it would cost $10 but there were other options given to help protect it until we got home.  The owner was kind and made our visit worthwhile.  I can already anticipate my husband wanting to come back when we come back to Michigan City.

I guess that's where the "and more" part comes in (and does a lot of heavy lifting). Of the books on display, they had only a single copy (at least out on the floor). And the books were displayed face out, which makes sense when you're trying to catch the attention of young children many of whom can't read, but then when only half of your shelves hold books it's fairly sparse. They also had some stuff from some local purveyors and gifts and stuff. I got some bath stuff to try with my little one to shake up bath time a bit. They have some stuffed animals and stuff. They have some benches and pillows, spaces for kids to hang out and play; one was a wardrobe that was really nicely arranged as a reading nook which my kiddo really enjoyed. (I wish I had the vision to see something like a wardrobe and find that if I take the doors off and anchor it to a wall, it could be a fun place to cuddle up!) Something that's really cool is that they have a fishtank with a couple of axolotls, which my babe was astonished by. The bookstore seems to have a cool thing where you can arrange to have your kid feed them. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of our visit here was the reason we came. I saw on Instagram that they were having train day, mentioning train books and crafts. My daughter loves trains, so we headed down. I think there were three train books on display. And the "craft" was some half-sheets of paper, crayons, and sheets of stickers that had trains on them. There was another family that had come in at the same time as us and I couldn't help but wonder if they were as let down as I was. I'd been really looking forward to visiting this bookstore--I wanted to about a year ago but hadn't been able to get here. I don't know that I'd come back even if I was nearby, because there are so few books that I don't know I'd want to just stop in to take a look since I'm not sure we'd find anything. Depending upon what's happening I'm not sure what parking is like; there's a good deal of parking down the block near the train station, but otherwise limited street parking.
