The menu has a lot of choices but sadly no ceviche. Definitely enjoyed the Birria however wasn't the biggest fan of the margarita, lacked flavor and very much watered down.

The BEST Mexican food I've had in the STL Metro. Just moved here from California, where the best Mexican food is, outside of Mexico... and was disappointed at every other option. 3 De Mayo is an absolute treasure. Authentic feel, which is proven by a lot of Mexican people eating there most times. We will be regulars here.

While of out of town, my friend took me to one of his favorite restaurants, which is 3 De Mayo. He has mentioned before about how much he likes the Birria Tacos at this restaurant, and that he thought I would enjoy it as well. We went, and the ambiance of the restaurant was cool! It wasn't necessarily a "hole in the wall" type of restaurant, but it gave the vibes of a small, maybe family owned and neighborhood staple restaurant. Upon ordering, of course we received complimentary chips and salsa, which were good. The salsa had a bit of kick to it, and I don't know if the salsa was supposed to be mild salsa or not, but it was very spicy. We ordered an appetizer dish with chorizo and queso cheese (I can't remember the name). The appetizer dish was good! For the entree, I ordered shredded beef Quesadillas. The two quesadillas were huge! So there were good size portions. The quesadillas did taste a bit bland to me though. And the consommé was very salty in my opinion. The overall service was good, and our waitress was attentive and very consistent with bringing refills, extra napkins, extra chips, etc. I enjoyed the experience trying this restaurant!

Food was authentic. Choriqueso came out pretty thin but thickened as it sat. Feels like a little hole in the wall restaurant. Not much decor. Was for sure pricey. 2 orders of Birria Tacos, 2 Beers, Choriqueso, and 2 kids meals both with sweet tea and it was over $80! We will go back but have some more strategy to our ordering.

3 De Mayo Quesadillas, delicious!

Took the advice of the Yelp Army and drove to Illinois to visit 3 De Mayo, an outstanding Mexican restaurant. Located in Pontoon Beach, Illinois, 3 De Mayo is the place to beat when it comes to great food, great service and great drinks. A short 15 minute drive from St. Louis is all it took to have a very pleasant experience. First , let's talk about chips and salsa. As most know chips and salsa are a staple in Mexican cuisine. Traditionally served while ordering and depending on the restaurant you can tell how the meal is going to go based on this simple dish. Chips were fresh and served hot, but the real treat was the salsa. Perfectly balanced salsa that's got heat and flavor. 3De Mayo was on praised on Yelp for its mangonada margaritas and boy did it deliver, what a delicious treat. A blended margarita with fresh mango that definitely hits the spot. They also serve plenty of cervezas if you're looking for a cold one with your meal. 3De Mayo's menu is a diverse selection of tacos, burritos, scopes and everything you can expect. One of my favorite Mexican dishes is menudo, and 3 De Mayo's version of the dish is one of the best. Next we ordered 3 De Mayo taquitos, 5 birria tacos served with consommé a broth used for dipping. Another knockout dish and was a healthy portion and could easily be a dish for two. Finally we ordered a Quesadillas 3 De Mayo platter of birria quesadillas also served with consommé and another home run! 3 De Mayo has plenty of seating and can accommodate large groups. We visited on a weekend and was busy, but we're able to find a seat to enjoy our meals. Tables were serviced quickly and restrooms were very cleaned. They also had great music that wasn't too loud that it took away from our experience. 3De Mayo is a great restaurant and anyone in the area who's looking for a excellent meal should give this a place a try. We'll be back!

Birria Barbacoa Tacos!

I was out taking picture by Horseshoe Lake and got hungry. I was fortunate enough to find this place close by. This is real, authentic Mexican food. There is plenty of parking and a nice outdoor patio. I had the Birria Batbacoa tacos. They were delicious! The service was very friendly. Absolutely will go back again.

Servers will come by and tousle his hair, say hello, wave to him, they are just genuinely so sweet and kind; it makes our day. And they are busy too! So it means even more that they make the time to treat us like family. The food is some of the best in the area, the place is always busy, and who doesn't love a margarita? This night the restaurant wasn't incredibly busy yet we waited nearly 15 minutes and were never greeted, given an update on service, provided water or anything. After sitting there for some time, we continued to chat, another table arrived, sat and just minutes after, they were greeted, offered drinks and were able to put in their order. During this entire time the waiter "Noe" maintained constant moments of eye contact, making me think he was arriving soon, but that never happened. I'm not sure if this was his attempt at trying to antagonize us or what but he kept smirking when looking over and even did so again when we expressed our disappointment in his neglect which appeared racially motivated. I guess he thought it was funny, but that sort of behavior and that level of blatant ignorance and disrespect certainly isn't.

The inside was very claustrophobic with tables all mashed together forcing you to sit shoulder to shoulder with the people around you. I ordered the torta with French fries cause I like to get a traditional Mexican dish but with an Americanized item too, I'm also a certified torta pounder. It wasn't too pricy but also not too cheap around 15 for the sandwich which tends to be around the average. Service wasn't to amazing got the order in fast and out but was forced to order the appetizer with my meal, and didn't get a refill of water until after I had already ate. I would definitely recommend as a place to eat but not necessarily the best. Personally I would wait for the summer just to eat outside. Last picture is proof of my certification.

I had to ask for limes! What fish tacos do not come with limes? The service was also very bad. Our food was served and then we had to find people to help us get half of the things we ordered. Then we were overcharged by $60 on our bill. So watch your bill, make sure you are not getting overcharged. I really like the place, it's so cute and the have karaoke but food and service need to be better.

It was a long drive for me. I had to use my GPS to find it and I cannot tell you how many Mexican restaurants I passed to get there. The parking lot was packed when I arrived, but lucky for me as I entered a booth was opening up and I was seated immediately. A visit to a Mexican restaurant is not complete without a Margarita. I just ordered a regular on the rocks with no salt. The salsa that came with the chips was delicious. I also couldn't resist adding, orders of cheese dip and guacamole, too. When I eat Mexican alone, I can double dip and I love that. Dipping in cheese dip and then salsa or guacamole is messy, but acceptable when dining alone. My entree was a, Chicken Quesadilla. It came with Refried Beans and Mexican Rice. It was only cut in half, so I had to cut again to get manageable pieces to eat. The tortilla was crispy, which I like and the stuffings made for a flavorful quesadilla. The service was attentive and friendly. As stated earlier, it was a drive for me and I'll tell you it is a drive I will make again. It was totally worth it.
