No bathrooms for customers to use means I spend much less time in the store shopping and buy about half of what I previously bought. Since the other stores closed, this is a long drive and I don't get there frequently. So the no bathroom use saves me a lot of money but not a great experience any more. read more

The costumer service is getting worse. They closed all of the fitting rooms, claiming a new policy for returns and closed their restrooms for clients. This puts the fragile old people and the families with kids in a very bad situation. I don't recommend a store which doesn't care about their costumers. I found that most of the people there are reluctant to be friendly or helpful they seem to enjoy speaking amongst themselves more than answering questions. There are electrical department is a joke there's only two outlets that work that I was able to find in the store and even they are very loose and don't hold the adapters plugged in very well, wouldn't recommend buying electronics there especially with a no return policy read more

Have long frequented this business even back when it was Village Thrift. it was a wonderful spot to get books and materials for my classroom. The prices now are ridiculous. Asked about a teacher discount and was quickly told - not happening. Used picture books for $7.00????? There were plenty in the three to five dollar range but there was a time when all children's books were one dollar. While there, I would peruse the other aisles but sadly won't be returning. This was the best place to shop for used clothes,until the covid hit and I guess it hit there mind as well,because prices are ridiculous!!!!!! Don't go there, everything is overpriced! You can add $2 and buy a new clothes in local TJmaxx, Marshals, Old Navy, GAP, Walmart. The fitting rooms are closed with exchange policy 14 days. What kind retail store you are without fitting room? How I can buy jeans, skirt, or dress without trying it on? They have FAKE Sale 50% of the tag. You won't find the SALE tag, it's gone. I'm a recent college grad, so getting a good deal on cute clothes that I'm only gonna wear for one season is basically my mantra, but boy have their prices gone up. I can go to Ross and get a new dress for some of the prices on the racks now a days. I used to love going through the China section to find cute little teacups to plant my succulents in, but now everything is marked "1/4" or "1/8" of a set, that you're not allowed to break up. I have no shame in my game as a thrift queen. This location is one of my go-to spots and rarely disappoints. A few months ago, I landed at 2nd Avenue in a hunt for a dress for a summer wedding ( I'm cheap, I'll admit it ). While I didn't leave with a dress for the wedding, I left with THREE adorable summer dresses, a pair of shoes, and a new top for work. The selection is vast and their prices are competitive, in fact, one of the dresses I left here with cost me $6. I had previously seen the exact same dress in the same condition for $9 at a Goodwill. In my most recent visit, I left here with a $13 heavy, black North Face fleece in great condition. I definitely felt like I've scored some great bargains here. This store used to be one of best thrift stores, but now their price is SO OUTRAGEOUS. Everything is VERY expensive for example a paperback book was used to be $0.99 now is between $3 to $4. A T-shirt is more than $5 and a pair of blue jeans is more than $12. It's better for me to buy a new one for $2 extra. read more

I've been going to this place for years and it just doesn't seem worth going to anymore. The change in their sale day prices and the major hike in their "regular" pricing is not worth the trip. Also, the employees are unbelievably rude and can't be bothered to even place things in the proper areas. Three times now, I've witnessed employees shoving clothes that should be sorted as is their job, and shove them into any place on any rack, all mixed items. I've found brand new clothing in stores by the same brands at lower prices than the used stuff being sold at this store for higher than the brand new prices at regular shops. The back wall with all the bagged up crafts, and other assorted items mashed in together so you can't see what's what without removing whole bags off one hanger to get to the back bags...that is just the worst. They were selling used sex toys!!! What the hell people!!! Cannot believe they actually had butt plugs and vibrators bagged up like that. read more

I'm a long time customer and have seen all the changes. This is a high volume thrift store that actually contributes to charities namely Purple Heart Veterans Services.. The staff are not ignorant but some have challenges with the English language. Everyone has a job and they do there job.. Got a question? as a manager not the girls stocking the shelves they are newly hired and trying to keep there job... I make the rounds at most thrift stores in the tri-state area and all stores have times when the prices are higher and lower. It is dictated by inventory..... If they raise the prices shoes and 2 weeks later they have so many shoes they don't know what to DO? They lower the price... This store is well organized and kept VERY clean.. The location for this place is absolutely brillant. Who else would think to put a thrift store near an outlet where bargain hungry people already flock to for deals? The store was packed with crowds of people looking for their next great find, but for the most part I was unimpressed. Most of their prices could rival a consignment shop, although they have days where they offer 1/3 off the tagged price. Still, if you look close enough, you might find that hot pair of last season's D&G boots or costume hat with feathers for next year's Mardi Gras celebration. I was there twice in the last few weeks. My problem with it is that everything is so overpriced! They had a used set of 3 lb. dumbells on sale for $3.99! I can buy a new set for under $7. anywhere else. Also, they had a set of outdoor very small resin cherubs that were $6.99 each. No way. I really used to love shopping here. I still stop in from time to time. But, it seems like the workers are keeping the good items in the back. ARE YOU PEOPLE KIDDING ME? I have been reading these mediocre reviews of 2nd Avenue and I must say I am stunned! This place is as awesome as it gets. I suppose if you are a loser who must have everything brand new and abhors used items (like uh.. most of the country LOL) then this is not the place for you. If You're like me, then you don't mind gently used items at a fraction of the cost. EVERY single time I come to this place I leave with tons of stuff. The items here are in great condition and are well organized and maintained. The great part is, they ALWAYS have specials. Specials? on already cheap merchandise you say?! YES! Sunday and Monday are customer appreciation days and certain color tags are discounted. So yes, my frugal friend, that 6.00 blouse will only be 3.00! That leave you three extra dollars to buy more stuff. See? I like their book selection as well, and have found several books that are popular in hardback. For example, I got "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" for like 1.20. They also have toys for children and bikes and shoes and wow.. you name it, they have it! The only complaint is that there shoe selection is terrible and G-d help you, if your tag falls off your item. They WILL not sell it yo you without a tag. Even if its a napkin that obviously should be priced at 80 cents. I actually saw the "manager" (quotes used on purpose) tell a customer, the "tag person" wasn't working that particular day so she had to come back another day to buy the item. I hope she came back on a Sunday or Monday, because it would be half off! Some of us know that one man's trash is another's treasure, if that's you, then 2nd Avenue is a great place. read more

I have to say that the manager at Franklin Mills, I think her name is Ashley is fantastic! very helpful friendly and supportive of her workers. I was introduced to 2nd Ave. by a friend of mine. At first, she didn't tell me it was a thrift store. I guess she knows I would've been turned off. So, when I arrived at this store, I was a little taken aback because she was really hype about finding a dress to wear to a party. All I could think about was "She brought me to a thrift store??!?" My experience with thrift stores has been: enclosed, musty stores with unorganized sizing systems and shoddy items for sale like the people that work there don't give a *&%! This place was different. Items are organized. A lot of items still have tags on them. They have fitting rooms and salespeople, while not exactly pleasant, are helpful. My friend got her dress, and I got a chocolate Brown, compliment inducing, Michael Kors blazer (tags attached) for $6!!! I must say, 2nd Ave helped me view thrift stores in a new light. read more

Yup, it's got that thrift store smell. It isn't pretty and the clerks can be rude. If the PA announcements every 5 minutes about the day's deals, accepting credit cards, or se habla espanol don't get on your nerves, I don't know what will. But I like this thrift store, mainly because everything's reasonably priced and there are plenty of mid-priced clothing brands in common sizes. Also, they have dressing rooms with mirrors (YAY!) The deals always change but I believe Sundays and Mondays are the current discount days. It used to be 1/3 everything in the store but now I think it's only on certain tag colors. Parking's not a problem but you do have to be careful around Franklin Mills these days. Heard of car thefts and attacks in the parking lots there. Oh how times have changed:( read more

I love this place and always find something I like. However, tonight I had an unfortunate situation. I bought a gift card About a year ago, and when I was trying to purchase things tonight, The cashier had no idea how to use my gift card. When I asked for a manager, she said the manager wasn't there. Basically, I ended up having to use my own money instead of the gift card. Why bother buying gift cards for myself or others if the cashiers don't even know how to use them? Or even ask another worker for some help or a solution. I'll probably shop here again, but I'm definitely not buying your gift cards anymore unless you teach your cashiers how to use them, or at least resolve the issue. read more

Right next to "Big Lots" and across the Blvd. from JC Penney and a closed "Chi-Chi's". This place has lots of shoes. I'm not into that, but maybe you are? Books are more expensive than some of the other "2' locations, as well as other thrift stores. Big boxes of vinyl records, including one set the lady in front of me was thrilled to have found. Lots of cosmetic bags that were freebies from the companies that sell makeup in dept. stores. Usually light on the kitchen appliances, but a lot of glass ware~ and broken glass in that area. Many, many scarves- dressy ones, not winter ones. Pros: The thrill of the hunt. Possible bargains that have gone unnoticed by others. Good stuff cheap. If the person pricing it doesn't know what it is... it can be cheap. Cons: Pricing is inconsistent. Two of the same item, hanging next to each other. One is $4.50, and the other is 80 cents. (Hmm... which one do I want?) Cashier lady SCREAMING the specials into the microphone. Screaming lady with screaming kids. NO PHONE. NO TOILET. Sometimes the whole place is crap, and you gotta come back another day. Other times, you get a pair of hand-knit preemie booties for 20 cents. Hurray for the bargain, but sadness for the knitter who obviously worked hard on them. read more

My friend introduced me to this place. I don't go often because I don't drive and don't feel like taking public transportation that far. But it's awesome. Always very hit or miss. But I always score some great things. There's all sorts of sales here, and special promotions they put on while you're walking through the store if you listened to the speakers when they make announcements. Everything is pretty darn cheap anyway. I never pay more than $20 on a visit and I end up with a ton of awesome stuff. I've gotten awesome blankets, cute blouses, summery sandals, belts, kitschy decor, etc. There's a lot of stupid stuff, but there is definitely lots of stuff worth looking for here. electronics, books, jewelry. and more more more! It's a big place, so expect to spend some time in here. I was gonna give 4 stars only because when I went there today, the employees were lazy and tried to get out of ringing me up and almost made me go back and forth between registers multiple times. but that's the only bad thing that ever happened here. and generally this is an A+ place with a huge selection. so 5 stars it is. read more

This is the only thrift store that I have ever been to where I actually always walk out with more than one bag. It has improved greatly in the fact that the cashiers are much more friendlier and helpful. Well I think it is too expensive on the regular days I find that the sale days and the 50% off days are Bargains Galore. I think it is worth the trip to stop here. I was talking to someone in another thrift store and she told me I should stop by this store. I went in and was glad that I did. I was able to find a pair of brand new Vince Camuto boots for under $20.00 and the boots retail for $200.00. If you go, just be prepared to take your time and look. This place was okay back a few years ago, but I think new ppl must have taken it over...some of the prices are over the top expensive. The linen dept. was pretty good, but now it's just all mixed together and overpriced ( 3$ for a USED hand towel? 2$ for a $ store dish towel? ) Some of the items should have been trashed. Clothing is overpriced as are the shoes. Not worth the trip anymore. Google thrift store in any zip code, you can do much better than this place. read more

I really, really, really like 2nd Avenue. Their clothing selection is unlike any thrift store I've ever seen! They have always had some relatively high percentage off of each item as well when I've gone (ranging from 25% to 33%). Some of their prices are really outrageous, however, if you have the time and energy to dig through the huge racks of clothing, then you'll find some amazing deals. read more

I cant believe this is a thrift store???? Their prices are literally comparable to the sales rack at Kohl's . Many sweaters had gigantic holes in them. I picked up a used jacket that literally smelled like mothballs and it had a $39 price tag on it, it was from Express not an elite designer . They put out damaged items in hopes that someone will buy them because you can't return them you just get stuck with them. It is an absolute disgrace, completely dishonest and whenever I bring it up to a manager or another sales person they say oh they must not of seen it or they only have one second to check it before they tag it, trust me, I only looked at it for one second and I saw it right away. Apparently a bunch of greedy businessman took over the store last year or the year before and ever since then it has just been dirty clothing soaked in sanitizer with ridiculous price tags on it!! I think they are forgetting that in most cases even when something has tags on it it's either very old and completely out of style or it's been in somebody's closet which is still a "used item" it's not right off the rack from the store!!! This is the best organized thrift store I have found in the Philly area. There is another location, in Lansdale. It is just as nice (though I think it might be a little smaller). The store is clean, cool to shop in during the hot summer months, and the deals are amazing. Each day you get half-price deals on items with certain color tickets - and the colors change each day. I have bought many things at this store for myself and my family. It's saved my life, I just love it there. If you want a pink short-sleeve blouse in women's size medium, you can find it with ease. The staff at the cash registers are always very pleasant. If you enjoy thrift store shopping you will LOVE 2nd Avenue!
