we called a day n advance to adopt a kitten for a boy's fourth birthday…read more They said there was no need to come in advance and assured us that they would have kittens for adoption the following day. we showed up with the four year old boy on his birthday and were told that although there were at least 15 kittens on the premise, we could not adopt one. Shame on them! I hope they are proud that they almost ruined a little boy's birthday. THANK YOU CAT DEPOT FOR SAVING THE DAY!!!

Horrible experience! After the death of Mitzi, my 6-toed Polydactyl (Hemingway) cat I went to St…read moreFrancis to adopt again. I told the volunteer that I had a soft spot for Hemingway's. She informed me that one had been brought in that day. She introduced me to "Pollyanna", opened the cage, and encouraged me to pet her. I stated that I wanted to adopt her. I was told that she needed to be spayed, and would be ready for adoption in about a week. I was certainly willing to wait. The next morning, I realized that I had forgotten to take a picture of Polly the previous day and called the office to ask if I could stop by and take a quick photo. "Of course!" said the woman on the phone, "Come on over." When I arrived, a volunteer took me to Polly's cage and started to open the door. Another woman shouted, "Don't open that door!" The volunteer explained she was opening it because I just wanted to take a photo. I said 'No problem, I'll just take the photo through the bars of the cage, no need to open. "NO PHOTO'S!" she shouted, "It's against policy!" I expressed surprise that such a policy existed, as it was just a simple photo. "NO PHOTO'S!"...The conversation became tense and I regret that I used some inappropriate language, as she refused to allow me to take a photo of the cat I wanted to adopt. After leaving, I phoned again to ask the name of that horrible woman. The receptionist would only say, "She's the DIRECTOR." That is very troubling. My concern is not simply about the photograph, however if there is a policy prohibiting visitors from photographing pets, I would like to see it, and why someone with such aggression can be in authority and dealing with the public? I came to St Francis grieving the loss of my beloved Mitzi, hoping to give another cat a loving home. I was met with unnecessary hostility and disrespect. I called every day, checking Polly's status, still expecting to adopt Polly after spaying. They gave vague answers, then refused to take my calls and finally releasing the cat to another person! The way prospective adopters are treated reflects the organization as a whole. I will be contacting every member on their Board of Trustees to review this incident. I sincerely hope no other adopter has a similar experience,

This little gem was recommended to is by a local bird enthusiast…read more There is a small pond with an island that is host to many beautiful birds. When we were there the egrets were nesting and raising their babies. There is a gravel path around the pond that only takes about15 min to walk around. There is a covered shelter for gathering f under and sharing a little picnic lunch At the one end there are numerous bat boxes and at the other end there are swallow(?) gourd homes. There are also numerous benches around the pond, and volunteers to answer your questions. We made a quick stop here, before heading to the beach. If you know your stuff, I'm sure you would enjoy this.

Made a special trip to donate new unused plumbing parts and hardware with some lightly used tools…read moreand at 9:30am I was lifting the boxes from my trunk to place in their donation area and a worker who was sweeping the driveway barked at me "Hay, donations not accepted until 10:00am" and then barked at another guy that had several very nice lamps and some appliances. He waited until I returned my boxes to my trunk. I left, will place on Craigs or Facebook for free on curb, and won't ever need to make another trip back to Habitat for donations. The other fellow left with his stuff and I'm pretty sure he won't be donating to Habitat in the future. I'm not sure why the employe was so insistant about 10am when they were open for business, but since the "rules" seem to change from time to time, I can't make the trip there only to be turned away.
