A gem. Exceptional quality and even better service. I quietly spent a birthday here and without…read moreeven knowing the staff steered me towards one of the best dining experiences of the last few years. I sat at the bar and the meal and beverage selections made by the staff were incredible.

This is the more casual sister restaurant for Renaa (Michelin Star). We came in for a weekday…read morelunch. They have a nice patio area, but it's hard to comfortably seat more than 4 people out there. The interior has a nice view into the kitchen and lots of natural light. For wine, they had a blaufrankish on the menu, which was a nice surprise. The house bread is a country loaf that had a good crust and a nice softer / chewy center. They had a lunch special - a la carte or as a meal (with dessert and a salad). The meal is definitely a better deal - NOK180 a la carte vs NOK250 for the whole meal. We tried the bolinius (salt cod fritters) with pea purée and a cauliflower couscous, both of which were unique/good. Sandwiches are all open faced, served on rye with a slather of aioli. You can get 2 for NOK180 or 3 for NOK240. - Steak: topped with an onion ring; the meat texture was a little tough - Beef tartare: fresh, but a little under salted - Shrimp with egg: the yolk was still nice and runny - Fried cod: nicely fried Food took a little longer than expected (it was fairly empty at lunch), but everything was pretty solid. Service was helpful, friendly, and unpretentious.

We were a group of four who went there for the first time first of September. I didn't know…read moreanything about them more than they served natural wines, which isn't really my cup of tea. The concept is based on local, short travelled Scandinavian ingredients. They only serve a set menu, don't know frequency for changing it. I been having the pleasure to eat and drink on similar restaurants in France and Sweden during the last half a year. The ambience is simplicity with seaweed as wall decoration. Söl is an Islandic word for a type of seaweed. We were greeted by a Dane and co-owner who explained the menu and wines with great knowledge. Our menu had five dishes, only one had meat, fried Cod. The rest is various vegetables, fried cooked or partially raw. We got one glass of wine with each dish, all natural ones. It was only the first wine that didn't really suited my palate. I've given it 5 stars, but I wish I could shave of a quarter from the last star because of the first glass of wine. The reason I giving it almost full score is because of price/quality. You will not get this quality at any restaurant in Stavanger for this price! We paid 970 NOK/ person which is about what you would pay for the same in Sweden. In Norway, this would cost at least in range 1200-1300 NOK. Now I hope they can manage it and keep the quality and price level.
