This is such a charming little restaurant, and we had an excellent brunch. Even though they were absolutely packed, the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, especially when it came to our two little dogs. We were the only ones sitting on the patio, and although it was lightly raining, that didn't stop the great service or delicious food. I started with a Pineapple Juice Mimosa, which I absolutely loved. My wife's latte was probably the one average part of the meal, but thankfully, everything else was fantastic. I ordered the Meat Lovers Hash, and it was so good! Hearty, flavourful, and exactly what I want from a brunch hash. My wife ordered the Smoked Salmon Benny, and she absolutely loved it. The Hollandaise sauce was especially delicious, and the eggs were cooked beautifully. Between the excellent food, friendly service, charming atmosphere, and how welcoming they were to us and our dogs, we really enjoyed our visit. The lineup is definitely justified! When I arrived, the restaurant was absolutely bustling, but the lady who helped me with our order was in such high spirits and was incredibly friendly. Even with how busy they were, she was so welcoming and made the pickup experience great. For my meal, I ordered the Creamy Pesto with Chicken, and I absolutely loved it. The sauce wasn't overly oily, had a nice, light basil flavour, and I really appreciated that they included Parmesan on the side so I could add as much as I wanted. My wife ordered the Spaghetti Primavera and really enjoyed it as well. She especially loved the goat cheese, which added a great flavour to the dish. The pasta here is definitely high quality. You can tell some care goes into it, and both of our mains were delicious. We also ordered the Arancini, which were just okay. We've had much better elsewhere, so they weren't really a highlight of the meal. The pasta, however, was excellent. We're definitely interested in coming back, hopefully on a nicer day so we can actually sit on the patio with the dogs, try more of the menu, and take in the views from the upper patio. There is a wider variety of drinks (including alcohol) and the cafe provides even further variety. While Pizza One has tons of developed recipes, my husband always goes with his custom pizza ($18.50 for a medium): pepperoni, mushroom, onions, and extra cheese. His wasn't as impressive as the chicken bruschetta, the pepperoni were larger slices, which meant they needed to be toasted longer as the soggy centre ends up tasting like bologna. With the extra cheese, Pizza One should consider applying less marinara to ensure the crust doesn't become doughy and soft. They are not a thin crust pizza, but their crust is still slimmer than what's typically found at the chains. The chicken bruschetta's crust was nice and airy, and the bottom lightly toasted until it almost had a Pizza Hut crunch and flavour but without the greasiness and heaviness. I've never had it myself, but my husband claims it's like New Orleans's pizza crust.

If they just charged a couple dollars more to use a thicker slice of chicken it'd be delicious. Unfortunately, the thin cutlet was too dry and the sweet sauce overwhelming. Even the coleslaw couldn't counteract the sugariness of the glaze. If anything, the potato wedges were the best part of the dish - an abundant portion of the hot and crispy spuds.

We ordered a Mario's Summer Picks that included soup, salad, and bread ("all you can eat" per the menu). My wife had the soup, and I asked for salad and bread afterward. The hostess then told us we would have to pay extra because we were sharing. This "rule" was not written on the menu nor explained when I asked for an extra plate. Both the hostess and waitress treated us as if we were trying to cheat the system, even after we pointed out the menu wording. They admitted the menu didn't match what they said, but insisted their "rule" applied because they said so. On top of this, we were even billed for two teas we never ordered simply because we asked for hot water. The way staff handled the situation was dismissive and unprofessional, and it left us feeling singled out and unwelcome even we are Canadian.
