We have worked with Megan so far and she has been outstanding! Very responsive, answers all my questions, and took us on a little tour of their workshop today to show us items currently being worked on as well as the few items they have in their showroom. We will be setting up a time for their guy to come by and take firm measurements of our office door opening so they can work up a basic design drawing for us in order to finalize the design itself and pricing. Another company we contacted wanted us to sign a contract with them before they would create a design drawing for us, which made us a bit uncomfortable, so it's refreshing that PorteUSA is willing to give that little bit extra before making a customer sign on the dotted line! I will say that their showroom and workroom are in need of some serious TLC, though. Their showroom should be full of beautiful, well finished examples of their work, but it has a very slap-dash feel to it. I got the feeling they threw up the buildings pretty quickly when they bought the property a few years ago so they could get right to work, but it is definitely time to really show what you can do and create an awe-inspiring area for potential clients to come in and really have the WOW moment, you know? I'm not taking off any stars for this, though, since you can see their high quality fit & finish from the porfolio pics on their site as well as from customer photos on google reviews. We aren't 100% sure we will go with them yet but they are a very strong contender for us! I will update this review if we decide to go with PorteUSA.

As it was a new home build, the door frame went in months before the glass. Six of the glass panes…read morewere subsequently scratched by the builder's cleaning crew. Five of those panes have since been replaced. One more to go. Unfortunately, four different glass sections have started to develop a haze between the dual panes. This is not unusual and always is a result of the dual panes not being properly sealed. Porteusa tells me the windows are warranted for 10 years so this should be a non issue. The windows have been installed for 5 months. However, even with the 10 warranty they are trying to walk away and telling the builder that's it's normal. Take a look for yourself. Then you determine for yourself if you want to put your $20K into their product. I've not given up hope that they eventually do the right thing. Hopefully, I get a chance to update this review and increase my rating.

Second time they stated they wanted to charge me $84 an hour because they had a partner with them even though this was 2 holes on a ceiling and just a 1 person job. When I told him most of the time was waiting for it to dry and that I didn't want to pay for 2 people to wait, he said he understood and would go solo. He then tried to force me to accept a minimum hourly amount for each step of the task which was egregiously overstated. For instance, he wanted 3 hours of time to go buy paint. It's 10 minutes each way to the nearest sherwin williams or home depot and you are painting a 5 inch patch of space. Coincidentally, this total would end up about the same as the 2 man price he wanted me to do. It was really clear he was trying to change the pricing to a fixed bid and back into $250 for the job. I then informed him I was not okay with that and would only be okay paying the $42 an hour for the time he actually took to complete the job, he then stated he wasn't interested and called me unprofessional. He condescendingly called me "buddy" and tried to claim I was looking for "free work". So, if you want somebody to honor their quoted rate, hire anybody else. If you want somebody to low ball you and then try to invent ways to more than double the price by claiming additional workers or egregiously high timeframes for simple tasks, then go with this guy.

Being a single woman owner of a older home with a lot of needs, I was fortunate to come across Phil. After having my home leveled I needed my back door (to the backyard) re-aligned/re-framed and decided to install a storm door. I turned to Yelp and saw Phil as the reigning expert on door repairs. I called him to try to set something up and of course he was booked but being already in my neighborhood he said he'd stop by to at least check it out. Phil came by within 15 minutes and assessed the door. He knew exactly what to do so it was easy (in theory bc Bubba aka my house has nothing easy about him) and probably after feeling so bad for me he decided to squeeze my job in. **I will say with Phil you need to be patient because he's a person with a life and has other things going on so be open to waiting a bit. If you aren't patient and want a hurry and rush job don't contact Phil- he's not for you and he doesn't deserve to be treated badly.** Ok so, Phil finally scheduled me and secured an assistant (this was a 2 person job). They took a few days to do the framing and install of my storm door. He encountered some extra work that needed to be done because it wasn't done correctly before. I appreciate that he did the job that needed to be done and did not skimp me. As a single woman I felt safe and confide t with Phil. I'm happy with the job and am so excited to be able to use my back door again and to have a storm door. I have 2 cats that love the door which has a pet door for them to come in and out as they please.

She explained that we were looking at oversized slabs (engineered quartz which we requested) to minimize seams. We also looked in their own yard for smaller pieces for other rooms. Initially, we were going to do only the kitchen. Their prices were better than expected so we expanded to include the butler's pantry and the master bathroom. Joe came out and measured. He answered all our questions (I was concerned about damage to the backsplash in the kitchen). While there was some damage to the drywall in the bathroom, that was easily remedied after the installation. He and his team worked quickly and did a beautiful job. Grouted very nicely between the countertop and backsplash. No broken tiles in backsplash. Joe is a perfectionist and measured the kitchen more than once to ensure a perfect fit. Great company, great guy. Let me set the record straight, I…read morehaven't even had my deck built yet but I have a great deal of confidence in this company. Last year I had a fence blow down on one side of my house (along with most of San Antonio) and I was having a hard time getting a contractor to call me back, much less give me an estimate. Allen not only called me back, he came out and gave me a reasonable estimate and said he would work the job in as soon as he could. I was getting nasty notes from my HOA so this was a big help to me. The work was done on time, on budget, and MUCH better quality than the original builder. I had him give me an estimate on a deck at that time and was impressed out how reasonable it was. Fast forward to now and I am ready to build a deck, and my circumstances and finances allow for a much nicer deck than what he originally estimated. First I went through Home Advisor (which I recommend if you're lonely... you will get all kinds of calls lol) and they sent 3 different contractors out. I sent the first home without an estimate because he wouldn't even give me a quote unless I signed paperwork on the spot. The other two were also VERY high pressure and their quotes were... well they were high (like you have to be kidding high). That's when I remembered I had Allen's card and gave him a call. He came out himself and took measurements, asked questions about what I wanted (one of the other companies insisted on telling me what I wanted) and gave me a ball park quote on the spot. Just based on this experience and the previous work I would highly recommend them, but of course I will update this review once the work is done. (it's 3/16/18 now and I hope to start on it within the next month).
