21 Pooch - Newly groomed - Pet Groomers Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I had a very disappointing experience with 21Pooch and unfortunately will not be returning. I scheduled an appointment for my dog to receive a bath and dropped her off without any issues. About 15 minutes later, I received a call saying they were unable to handle her and that I needed to come pick her up. While I understand that not every groomer will be able to work with every dog, what I found completely unreasonable was being told that I would still be charged the FULL price of the service, despite the fact that the service was not performed. I pushed back because I could not find any clearly disclosed policy during the booking process stating that customers would be charged the full service price if the staff determined they could not handle their dog. It also did not make sense to me to charge the full amount for a bath that was never completed, particularly when they still had appointment availability that day. After I expressed my concerns, they did reduce the charge. I appreciate that they were willing to make an adjustment, but I still disagree with being charged at all for a service that was not performed. What bothered me most was how the situation was handled. If there is a handling, cancellation, or unsuccessful-service fee in situations like this, it should be clearly and explicitly disclosed on the website and during the booking process so customers can make an informed decision before leaving their pets. They told me they hoped I would return, but unfortunately this experience left a very negative impression. I expected better customer service and a more reasonable approach to resolving the situation. I will be taking my dog elsewhere in the future. read more

CANNOT RELY on social media anymore. Very inexperienced groomers. Not sure how this was okay in the groomers eyes. Even after this bad haircut, they were not willing to find a reasonable solution. The 1 star is for the kind employee who checked our dog in. read more

I am furious and deeply upset about what happened to my dog at 21pooch in Downtown Los Angeles on September 5. I brought my dog in for a 3:30 p.m. on the 5th of September 2026 for a grooming appointment with photographs showing the exact haircut and pattern I wanted. I was very specific. After I left, I received a call saying there was some matting around his NECK and that they needed to cut that area a little shorter. There was NO matting on his head. I agreed only to the neck being cut a little shorter and made it clear that I did NOT want his coat taken very short. I was specifically assured that it would "definitely not" be skin-short. I also gave one very clear instruction: DO NOT CUT HIS HEAD SHORTER. I was told okay. My phone automatically records incoming calls, so there is a record of exactly what was said. When I returned around 5:20 p.m., I was horrified. What they had done was completely contrary to the photographs I brought and the instructions I gave both in person and over the phone. This was not a misunderstanding, and it was not a situation where my dog was matted all over and they had no choice. The matting they called me about was around his neck. I gave limited permission to shorten that area. I specifically said not to take the rest of him too short and not to shorten his head. They did it anyway. What concerns me just as much is the conduct of the person at the front reception. At 21pooch, the receptionist receives the owner's instructions and communicates them to the groomer. When I confronted them, she began claiming that I had said things online and during our phone conversation that I never said. Because my phone automatically records the calls, I know what was and was not said. If you are the person standing between the owner and the groomer, you cannot decide which instructions to communicate, which to ignore, and then attribute statements to the owner that were never made. When I asked to speak with the groomer who worked on my dog, the receptionist was also hesitant to bring the groomer out. That made me seriously question what the groomer had actually been told. These are PEOPLE'S ANIMALS. They are family. A dog cannot defend himself or tell the groomer, "That is not what my owner asked you to do." The process depends on the person receiving the owner's instructions communicating them honestly and accurately. Nothing is more important to me than my dog. I know his personality and how he reacts, which is exactly why I brought pictures and gave specific instructions. Since coming home, he has been visibly unhappy and withdrawn and will barely look at me. My apartment also gets extremely cold, which was another reason I did not want his coat taken this short. I have respected 21pooch in the past because of how they treated my dogs, but this experience has completely damaged that trust. If an owner provides photographs, gives explicit instructions, repeats those instructions during a phone call, and is assured they will be followed, those instructions need to be followed. This was not just a bad haircut. It was a complete breakdown of trust. read more

Well god forbid u are ever late by minutes, they will charge you a late fee of $20. Don't ever text them because they will not get it in a timely manner even though I text them 1.5hr prior to her appt. Communication is not something they care about. I spoke to the lady, 10 min later my husband showed up but we still got hit with the fee. Nowhere on there website mentions anything about a late fee. Waiting for a manger to call me back. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I tried this groomer out today because my regular groomer is out of town. I came here with high expectations based on what I've read and seen online. I am very DISAPPOINTED at this place! I was hoping they could get the job done, but they did not deliver. I paid $171 for a haircut, wash, nail trim, eat pluck! NOT WORTH IT! For that much money, I was expecting something acceptable. I've seen other groomers do better than what they delivered. My dog has anxiety when he's being groomed. He's been reported to resist and growl and nip at the clippers from my regular groomer. Yes, it might be difficult, but it IS doable. Look at pics of my dog from other groomers. While my dog was at the groomers, I got a text saying that they are going to charge me $30 EXTRA because my dog is "aggressive." OK. I'll pay for it for you to get the job done well. Few texts later, I was told his haircut couldn't be done cuz he was just trying to bite, even if he had a nozzle on. I feel like I shouldn't have been charged the extra $30 especially since they couldn't get the job done properly. If you're gonna charge me extra, GET IT DONE WELL. It is disappointing because they are already expensive, but the additional cost for a BAD JOB was very unacceptable. I also paid for an eat plucking, and THAT WAS NOT DONE! THE HAIRCUT IS ALSO DONE VERY POORLY!! LOOK AT THE PICTURES!! TAKE YOUR MONEY AND BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE! YOUVE BEEN WARNED. I even asked if I can be there with him next time and they said no. They said it's safer for the dog and staff. Wouldn't it be safer for the dog and staff if the owner is there to calm the dog down? I RECOMMEND TAKING YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MUNG PUPPY STORE ON WESTERN AVE!! GO THERE INSTEAD! THEY ARE ALSO CHEAPER AND GETS THE JOB DONE WELL NO MATTER HOW DIFFICULT JOB IS! ********response to owners comment******** I was informed that a muzzle was put on my dog to prevent biting, so "biting throughout the entire visit" is a false statement. How can a dog bite when it has a muzzle? The purpose of a muzzle is to prevent biting. When you ask a customer to pay extra for the dog's behavior, the customer has the right to expect the grooming to be done well, satisfactory at best. That's what we are paying for. Paying an extra $30 for an unsatisfactory job is unacceptable. I understand the face being hard to deal with since it's near the mouth of the dog. THE REST OF THE BODY SHOULD HAVE NOT BEEN AN ISSUE BEING UNEVENLY TRIMMED. I ALSO PAID FOR EAR PLUCKING. THIS SERVICE WAS NOT PROVIDED. IF THE SERVICE WAS NOT PROVIDED, WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT? read more

I can't say enough great things about 21Pooch! From the moment I walked in, the staff made both me and my pups feel completely welcomed and cared for. The salon is spotless, organized, and has such a calm vibe that my dogs--who usually gets nervous--were totally at ease. The groomers here truly know what they're doing. They took the time to ask about my dog's coat, sensitivities, and what style I wanted. When I picked them up, they looked absolutely adorable--clean, fluffy, perfectly trimmed, and smelling amazing! You can tell they put so much love and attention into their work. What really stood out was their patience and gentle handling. My dogs came out happy, not stressed, and that alone makes this place worth every penny. Their customer service is also top-tier: friendly updates, clear communication, and so much genuine care. If you're looking for a grooming salon that treats your fur baby like family, 21Pooch is the one. I'm officially a loyal customer 2 years now and won't be taking my pup anywhere else! Highly recommend! read more

I absolutely love 21Pooch! Bori is a tiny little 3.5lb pup and usually very picky about groomers, but this is the only place where she's genuinely happy to go to! she literally doesn't even look back during drop-off. That alone says everything. Anastasia always make her look perfect. Her cut is consistently clean, even, and fluffy, and they somehow get her face exactly the way I like it every time. It's so hard to find groomers you can trust in LA, and 21Pooch has become the only team I feel completely comfortable leaving her with. They're gentle, professional, and truly care about the dogs they groom. I'm so grateful we found them -- Bori always comes home looking adorable and smelling amazing. Highly recommend to any dog parent who wants reliable, high-quality grooming! read more

21 Pooch - Bath & Haircut XS (Maltipoo) - Pet Groomers Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I have nothing but good things to say about 21 Pooch. I have two vastly different dogs - a 4 year old husky shepherd and a 14 year old shih tzu. Making an appt was easy - everything is online and is straightforward. We got a bath and grooming for my shih tzu, and a bath and deshed for my shepsky. My senior shih tzu Bosley has become more anxious and fussy with age, and this was his first time at this particular groomer, so the location and atmosphere was foreign to him. The appt took a bit longer than expected, and when we arrived the groomers explained that he was very nervous and needed many breaks during his grooming. They seemed apologetic, but this humble attitude was not lost on us. We really appreciated that they did not push him and were very careful and considerate and groomed on his schedule. He had surgery 8 weeks ago to remove a cancerous tumor, and we were very glad we chose 21 Pooch as his post-surgery groomer. He was in excellent hands and looked amazing! Our shepsky Luna was an easy groom! She also looked great and the deshed really helped with her winter coat. They have a retail section inside the store with tons of cute clothes and treats for your fur babies. Parking is not the easiest but there is a decently long loading curb along Broadway that you can quickly stop at to drop off/pick up. I highly recommend 21 Pooch. They were professional, compassionate, and I will be back! read more

First of all I did not cancel and why did you wait over 15days to respond to my review. His appointment wasn't cancelled I paid for the de-matting service and wash. It is not my fault that your website had a same day appointment available but since I have time today let me reiterate how you guys are terribly unprofessional. 1st of all if there wasn't enough time to do the Asian fusion cut the same day you or any of your associates there at 21 pooch could have called me to reschedule. 2nd at the very least offering someone an alternative day that they can bring in there puppy is basic level customer service. You guys have called me multiple times and left voice messages and text messages trying to "clarify what went wrong" so I can remove my review which is crazy and you're now trying to bark back at me with incorrect information. I'm not taking down my review. Do better. ***Additional response*** I was never offered to review any camera footage, another inconsistency. I've added a screenshot of the conversation. You do realize it is my constitutional right to free speech and a matter of legitimate public concern and interest so no matter how many times you sit here to go back and forth with me I'm not removing my honest review about a factual experience. Had you offered another day for me to bring my puppy in we might not be in this position. Now leave me alone like I asked you to before. read more

I've been a repeat customer for the last 6 months or so. The grooming services are great, and the staff has always been kind. I've only had one issue in the past, and they resolved it quickly, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, my recent experience changed things for me. I had to cancel my appointment today because my dog developed a hot spot in the middle of the night. I called first thing this morning, and instead of empathy or understanding, I was immediately told I'd have to pay $20 to reschedule or $22 to cancel. While I understand that policies exist, the way it was communicated felt cold and transactional. For me, it wasn't about the $22 -- it was the principle. A little grace would have strengthened my loyalty. Instead, it cost them it. It's disappointing, because they do good work. I hope this feedback is helpful for the business long-term. Policies aside, empathy and tone matter. While today's $22 fee may have been gained, losing a loyal, repeat customer is a far greater loss. read more

We've been taking Santiago (4 yo Beagle/Yorkie) to 21Pooch for several months now. We are happy and satisfied with their grooming service. We discovered 21Pooch a year ago. We needed somewhere downtown to take our dog to get her nails clipped. We found 21Pooch on Google and decided to take a shot with them. A year later, we were still a customer. We love them! As of this year we started taking our pup to get bathed there and were super impressed with how it turned out: especially with the de-shedding shampoo add-on: it's a miracle! The gals at 21Pooch are super nice, and always welcoming. I would highly recommend them for any of your pet's needs. Thank you, guys! read more
