I am beyond satisfied with my experience with Midtown Eye Care and Dr.Jared Powelson. I spent…read moreMONTHS reading reviews and searching for optometrists within 50 miles of my location. The midtown eye care clinic was decently close to my home and Dr.Powelson had great reviews. So I bit the bullet and decided to schedule an appointment. The staff was very courteous and the doctor was phenomenal. As I've mentioned to him at my appointment, this has been the more extensive and helpful appointment I've ever had with an optometrist. We even slightly discussed lasik (we would have discussed it more but at the time I am not a candidate for it). Dr.Powelson actually teaches how to perform lasik at the school in town as well. So if you're looking into that option, or looking for anything pertaining to your optometry needs, I absolutely recommend going to Midtown Eye Care and seeing Dr.Powelson. They also had a decent selection of eyeglass frames in the clinic. Brands such as Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren, Oakley, Ray Ban, Lacoste, Sketchers, amongst others. Prices were beyond reasonable. Instead of going through the eye dilation situation that everyone hates about optometry visits, they have this new machine where you put your eye towards a lens and use your face to press into it until you change the blue light in the lens to green and it scans a photo of the back of your eye. It does cost extra, but it is very affordable and your eye scans get stored in their database. Midtown Eye Care also fits and makes lenses on location, although some insurances do require them to send the frames out to their own lab and the lenses be made and fit there and then they'd send it back to the optometry clinic and you go pick them up. I would recommend this place over and over again. This time, I'm actually looking forward to my next optometry visit.

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with this office warrants one…read more I visited MyEyeDr two weeks ago and was told my replacement contact lenses would be ordered immediately and would arrive by Monday. I made it very clear at the appointment that I was completely out of contacts, and the staff provided me a 5-day supply to get me through until the order arrived. That Monday came and went with no update. When I called, I was told that only one lens had arrived and the other would follow shortly. Another full week passed with no communication at all. As of today--two weeks after placing the order--I still have no contacts and no information about when they will arrive. Every update has required me to call them; not once has the office reached out with a status update or explanation. Running out of medically necessary corrective lenses is extremely disruptive, and the lack of follow-through and communication from this office has been incredibly frustrating. A delay can happen, but not providing updates, missing multiple timelines, and leaving a patient without the ability to see properly is unacceptable. I ultimately requested a refund and will be taking my business elsewhere. For comparison, I ordered the same contacts through 1-800-CONTACTS and they arrived in 24 hours for only a $10 premium. The difference in service speaks for itself.

My husband and I went here for long overdue vision exam. We were seen by two different students…read moreand both of us were highly impressed by the thoroughness of the exam, the courtesy and respect with which we were treated. A doctor reviewed the student's diagnosis. Both were wonderful. We got our new glasses at The Focal Point (Concourse), which is affiliated w/the school. We were pleased with the selection and with the care they took to explain lenses, coatings, advances, etc. When I found my night vision still wasn't right, I went back to the school and saw Dr. Raja. She checked the lenses to make sure the prescription was correct, which it was. She gave me clear and detailed explanations of why I was still having troubles. She was wonderful and when I demurred having cataracts surgery at that time, suggested I try their Dry Eye Center, at the Concourse location. Unfortunately, I got sick and missed (as in completely forgot) the appointment. Still having night vision problems, I have asked for a referral for cataract surgery and further consult w/Dr. Raja. I am fully confident in the doctors at the school and know whatever next step they recommend will be right for me. As I had lost Dr. Raja's card, I called and the call was courteous and respectful. I know the place can get crazy busy, especially after 3 pm, but it is an excellent facility and neither my husband or I (who are both skeptical about medical care in general) have any complaints, only praise. Highly unusual. Get there in the morning, it's wide open. If the desk people seem short, they have always been helpful when we've dealt with them and their kiosk sign-in works like a charm. I highly recommend the Eye Center. Our insurance covered everything, but it is an excellent practical choice for anyone, insurance or not. Everyone here in Memphis we've talked to about it agrees. Now previously I haven't had an issue with Peepers Optical but today was the exception. For starters I wasn't greeted. AT ALL! One lady even walked past me to the back office. When the other young lady got off the phone she was absolutely no help at all. She just said "pick out some frames" and I honestly needed assistance. My daughter had already made it to her tolerance level and I was clearly struggling and not one soul ask if I needed help. Then when I just picked out a pair of frames out of frustration, she didn't check to make sure the frames fit my daughter correctly. I had to ask her. I spent more time standing around waiting for someone to help me through the process. This is not the type of service I expect. I also plan on calling because I'm livid.
