I lost track of what I did with it and they moved to Tri-Cities. Over 20 years later I came across it from one of my boxes in storage. I since moved from Spokane and now live over 3 hours drive from their current location. Last week (September of 2026) I had planned a trip and decided to bring the certificate with me as I was traveling through their area. I spoke to an extremely helpful associate who contacted the current owner of the business and was thankful and amazed to say that she still honored the gift certificate!!! This store is FILLED with soooo much cool stuff. I could've easily had a certificate for $5,000 let alone $50 and still barely scratch the surface of their awesome inventory!!! While I was waiting in line, a customer behind me mentioned that she travels over 100 miles from Pendleton, OR to shop there. I don't blame her! I certainly will be stopping by EVERY time I'm in the area!!! Thank you SOOOO much for honoring the certificate AND operating such an AWESOME store!!! Looking forward to my next visit!!! P.S. the used comics are a GREAT deal at Buy 2 get 1 FREE!!!

Most of the times they are busy but they will make sure to answer all your questions. The real problem is the manager. She is condescending, unhelpful with a huge attitude. I feel bad for the staff that has to deal with her. I bought a controller and was told that if there was any problem I could return it. There was so many people that they didn't give me the receipt. I came back to return it but the store was extremely busy so I felt bad for the only person working in the store as he was helping me in between customers. I told him I could back later so he could help more people. I came back an hour later and the store was empty and only the manager was there with another person. I told her the story and she told me that she couldn't help me without the receipt. I explained the situation and the I had been there an hour before. She blamed on the staff saying that he promised things that could not be done and that she didn't have time to go over all the transactions. She emphasized that she was the manager and she was the only that could help me and she was not able to do it without the receipt. I understand the receipt situation, I highly dislike the attitude and the unwillingness to help. Few minutes before this guy was doing the impossible to help me. She didnt even try! So, go to the store for the staff run if you see the manager

It doesn't take long to figure out where things go in Encore Books. Pocket-sized paperbacks fill the shelves in the middle of the store, while larger paperbacks and hardcovers are placed around the edges. Sections are clearly defined and well-alphabetized, making it easy to see if they have something you're looking for. If you're having trouble finding something, the staff I spoke to was friendly and helpful - they'll set you right with a smile. With both used and new books on the shelves, the prices are quite reasonable. Their "blind date with a book" feature is a fun addition and a great way to encourage trying new books. While I often prefer a bookstore that encourages exploration and comes with a little mystery, a place like Encore Books is perfect when you're looking for that one book you can't seem to find anywhere else. They care about what they're doing, and it shows.

And wander I did in Churchill's, through shelf after shelf of fiction, non fiction, vintage titles. I eventually left with a paperback I'd never heard of, a first edition of one of my old favorites, and a cool 1980 comic book that just struck my fancy. But more than the things I bought, what I really found in the meandering shelves of this little bookshop was the sense that there could be some treasure waiting for me around the next corner. In this little space filled with books of all kinds, Churchill's captures the feeling of discovery that all good bookstores have and online bookstores just can't replicate. My kids weren't with me this time, but I could hear them as I wrapped up my visit to Churchill's bookshop. "Come ON Dad, let's goooo already." I had to smile. I can always tell it's a great bookstore when I can hear my kids telling me I've spent too long wandering its shelves.

I'm only writing this to hopefully help some of you people that do not know what you're doing when…read moreyou sell gold or silver or platinum or jewelry or Coins. Joe, who owns Ron's Coins if you know what you have not what you're seeing on a eBay price or what you're seeing in a book price but you actually know what you have. You can get Joe to give you a pretty good price as for the rest of the people that work for him, his son and his sister And the other people working there they will rip you off blind and make you think that you are getting a deal. Gold and silver are both going up with no signs of going back down. They are predicted to go much higher than they are and these are from people that know Not from just some John Doe that is making guest work out of the market. I just called needed to get rid of some of the stuff to buy sell Gold, etc. only as a private person not as a business so I called to unload some of my extra to try to get some cash during the holiday season. I believe it was Joe son brother is the one I spoke to they are offering 50% of the going rate of any given gold unless it is gold coins. They are giving two dollars under spot price which is what the going price is of any day for silver eagles which almost always go for over spot to any other reputable dealer. They are giving less than 50% of spot for sterling silver. In other words say sterling silver is going for $60 an ounce they're giving people $30 now. Remember that might sound like a lot of money to you but that's what it was going for before it started shooting up so in other words for your property they are making double they're doing the same thing for 10 1418 carat gold and if you have a resell jewelry item even if it has $100,000 diamond in it, they will give you 50% of spot price for the gold and keep the diamond. These are lying thieving users who have made their fortune and I do mean a fortune out of other peoples lack of knowledge. There are many places that buy precious metals and there are many places that actually give you fair prices some of them you have to wait a little while to get your money 24 to 48 hours others you might have to drive an hour or two to get to because Yakima is one of the closest places to hell I've ever been. So do yourself a favor if you have something to sell, do a little bit of homework and call around before you sell for anybody that's sitting at home trying to sell grandma Sterling silverware $30 an ounce might sound really great but to be honest with you $55 an ounce, which would be much fair price sounds much better. However, there is a little bit of leniency when it comes to silver, but not normally when it comes to gold if you're selling your gold say 14 carat 1 g for less than $70 a gram you're cheating yourself. Ron's is giving you 40 and they use a scale that's called a penny weight scale the reason they use that scale as it confuses people and are able to rip you off even more because people are not aware of exactly what a penny weight is. Buyer and or seller beware. Joe can be a very fair person, but he did not get to be one of the richest people in Yakima by doing that I have literally seen him give somebody dollars on things that are worth thousands. I've been in the store. I've watched it while it was happening, but I have had some good dealings with him also. So what he's doing isn't actually illegal just a very immoral in my opinion. As for his family members and his workers, they are simply thieves I talk to. I believe it was his sister, the big heavy fat woman to sell a 50 peso piece. They are gold from the 1940s they are over an ounce of gold back then Gold was about 1700 an ounce she offered me $450. Told me that that's all the Gold that was in there now you go ahead and make your choice. You can think I'm an angry person who simply trying to get more people to come to me, but I don't buy any more since Covid because Covid pretty much bankrupted me but I'm just telling you the truth because most people who are going into these places to sell aren't doing it because they want to they're doing it because they need some money to survive to keep their home with their lights on to put food on the table. Joe and his group of immoral Democrats the only reason I use the Democrats is it's the nicest way of calling somebody a very bad person to make a fortune on while the people that really need the money end up losing their home or their electricity or their kids end up going hungry. You can choose to believe me or just do a little bit of legwork yourself and you'll find out I'm not lying. Have a very blessed Christmas and a very prosperous new year. God bless you all.
