I called up David just after the holidays to see if he could clean my carpets before the new year (there is something nice about starting the year with clean carpets!), and he was able to fit me in the next day. He gave me an approximate estimate on the phone, which was pretty much exactly the price he ended up charging... no extra costs added on! The price was absolutely fair for the great work he did! The carpets turned out nicely and dried quickly. David uses organic products, which is important to me since I have a little girl who thinks eating off the floor is the way to go! There was no chemical smell, and the carpets turned out looking fluffy and smelling nice and fresh. David even spent some extra time removing paint stains that I had made when painting my apartment 2 years earlier (I honestly did not think anything could be done about them, but most of them vanished... yay security deposit!), and he propped up a mirror that could not be moved to another room on little styrofoam blocks so it wouldn't get damaged by the dampness. Also, he is a very nice person and I felt 100% comfortable leaving him in my apartment when I had to run some errands. Yay 1st Choice Green Clean! :) read more

Well, I am sorry I can't share all the excitement. I called on Friday, March 7th at 8:00 AM and left a Message. I left my Name, Phone #, Time of Day, and Message. I needed some Carpet repair and cleaning done since I just got through with some Remodeling. Needless to say, several Rooms needed to be cleaned, Traffic areas taken care of and most of all, some Areas needed to be re-stretched since I added a Wall and had to cut the existing Carpet. Anyways, it is now 2:17 PM on the same Day, and no-one has called me back. How long should I wait? 2 hours? 4 Hours? Over 6 Hours? How long would you wait? What if I just had a flooded House and needed immediate attention? Too bad, I will take my Business elsewhere. read more

Based on the great Yelp reviews, my roommate and I decided to use them. We tried several times during the day to speak to a live person, but it always went to voicemail. Eventually we left a message and waited for a call back. Several days went by and nobody called. We tried again with the same result. After two weeks and 3 voicemails, we moved on, but just a warning to other Yelpers: if we experienced this lack of response BEFORE "David" is hired for the job, can you imagine what his customer service skills could be like after he's been hired (and paid)? No thanks! read more

I just found my carpet cleaning guy for life! It seems like such a simple thing. Getting your carpets cleaned. The reality is that if you live in your house, care about your stuff and are willing to pay a fair price to get a good job done, all Carpet Cleaners are NOT Created Equally. 1st Choice Green Clean just did an amazing job stretching and cleaning my carpets! Now, I'm spoiled and will never use anyone else. Dave Trager, the owner did: - Exactly what he said he was going to do. - Exactly when he said he was going to do it, and - Exactly for the price that we had agreed to. Dave carefully explained each step of the process and provided us with a clearly written and professional estimate that was broken down so that we could easily pick and choose which services we wanted done. No judgement or pressure tactics when we opted to delay some upholstery cleaning. In addition to using "green" cleaning chemicals (safe for dogs and kids) he used a full set of professional tools and a high powered truck mounted extraction unit which sucked all the excess water out of the carpets. We were walking on them in just a few hours, and that was in February! He used a power stretcher to pull the carpet tight. He carefully inspected the tack strips to make sure that they were properly secured and added support where he could see that they had failed in the past. Sure, I'm always looking for a deal, but the carpet cleaning industry is filled with con-artists, bait and switch tactics and companies that will just take your money then subcontract out the work to some guy in a pick-up truck with a broken down, grocery store rental unit, who soaks your carpets, padding and sub-floors leaving you with a bigger problem than when you started. The horror stories that you hear about carpet cleaners are real! Getting your carpets cleaned in your house is a pretty intimate and invasive process. 1st Choice Green Clean has been in business for over 25 years. I have never met Dave Trager or even heard of 1st Choice Green Clean before last week. In fact I found him on YELP! Now, I consider him a true craftsman. A throwback to a time when local businesses took pride in their workmanship and a friend. He is not the cheapest guy around, but his prices are fair and I believe you will be pleasantly surprised and reminded of why it is nice to do business with a family owned business that has been serving the Long Beach community and surrounding areas for decades. He gives free quotes and will personally talk to you on the phone, so you have nothing to lose. read more

David, the owner, is very friendly, helpful and trustworthy. His work was impeccable and his prices were very reasonable! Would recommend 1st Choice Green Clean to anyone that needs any piece of furniture and/or flooring cleaned. Will use this company again!! :D My light beige couch was absolutely filthy from years of use and my dog. I mean so dirty and smelly to the point that it was now a dark tan color and I was thinking of throwing it away all together and buying a new one. I couldn't find I decently priced quality couch so I decided to try and clean my couch and see what happens. I called 1st Choice Green Cleaning on a Sunday evening. David returned my call within the hour and we set up an in home cleaning estament the following afternoon. He said if we were happy with the price quoted that he could clean our furniture the same day since he would already be there. After David finished, I was astonished at how clean he got my dirty couch! He was able to restore it to its natural color and get rid of the smell. We had him clean our side chair as well. This chair is dark brown in color so we didn't realize how dirty that was too, but now it looks like new! He suggested we add on the Scotch Guard since the furniture cleaned up so nice and this extra layer would help to prevent the furniture from getting dirty too fast. So we did. As I mentioned before David was very friendly and I felt very comfortable having him in my home. He worked hard while still taking time to get know my husband and I (in a friendly neighbor kinda of way). He also showed interest in my puppy. I will defiantly use him the next time I need something cleaned. He mentioned he also cleans tile and grout. read more

We had Dave come out and give us an estimate to re-stretch and clean our living room carpet. He was very professional and was right on time. He took his time and explained what needed to be done. We decided to hire him and we are glad we did. He took his time and did an excellent job. The job took longer than we thought due to additional tack strip needed and he made sure any tack strip that was loose was replaced. He went far and beyond and did an excellent job. Our carpet looks brand new. We highly recommend Dave. Great guy. Dave is your man for any carpet repair/cleaning needs. read more

I did my research on carpet cleaning in the LB area - calling and interviewing 5-6 of the top rated cleaners in the area on Yelp. I heard the speech every time - "we have the best machines, blah blah. Heard some hard sells, "if I come out, I want to make sure I do the cleaning or otherwise its a waste of my time. Of the short listed three, 1st Choice Green (Dave) was the only one that came out more once (three times actually), inspected and measured the square footage of the place and gave me a written estimate (1st visit). He also did not over promise, suggested he come out again (all on his dime and time) to do a test on the carpet to see if he could actually clean it to my expectations. After the second time coming out to do the test, (and with pretty remarkable results) did I agree to hire him. Dave spent over 3 hrs cleaning for bedrooms - almost 900 sq/ft of space. I was there with him every single minute, driving him crazy with a ton of questions. I observed that to clean carpets well, the cleaner has to be very deliberate and spend time going over the dirty spots in a slow and measured way... I don't believe it can be rushed if you want to get the desired results. Please keep in mind that Dave's rates are NOT the lowest, in fact they were the highest. However, he was by far the most professional, thorough, and deliberate of all the folks I spoke to. I am not one to over pay for products or services, and even though his rates were over 50% more expensive, I do believe he was worth it. Believe me, I never, ever pay the highest price for anything I buy, but in this instance, I was impressed with the overall level of professionalism Dave exhibited throughout. I have posted photos for you to see how he did the test and some work-in-progress shots. read more

I needed my carpets stretched, cleaned, and stains repaired. There aren't too many companies that stretch carpets but I was able to find two companies. I contacted David and he was very responsive, and offered to give me a free inspection and quote. David arrived promptly and was very knowledgeable and appeared experienced, and before he left gave me an estimate. David's estimate was competitive with the larger company who also provided me a quote. I chose David because I believed that he would be more experienced and do a better job than the workers for the larger company. I also chose David because he is a small business owner and I prefer to support small business, if possible. David arrived promptly as scheduled, did a fantastic job stretching the carpet so it didn't have to be replaced, and even added additional tact strips to ensure the carpet remained in place. The carpet cleaned better than expected. David did great work for a fair price, was polite and provided great customer service. I would highly recommend and use his services in the future. read more

Dave was able to work with my unpredictable moving schedule, accommodate the day and time needed, and perform an excellent stretching and cleaning service in a condo without the use of connecting his equipment to his van. This type of service is exactly the reason for using a small, local business like Dave's. If you're looking for a trustworthy quality carpet cleaning or repair service, look no further. read more

Dave the owner returned my call within the hour and was able to clean my mattress within two days. Service was affordable, quick and efficient. He was very polite and did such a good job I'm referring him to my neighbor. We are ordering a new mattress and plan on giving our older one to a friend who needs it. What better than to have it cleaned and sanitized! Thanks Dave! read more

1st Choice Green Clean - Carpet Cleaning Near Me - Long Beach, California

1st Choice Carpet Cleaning came and cleaned my rental unit to get it ready for a new tenant. The guy was professional and did a great job.

Found David on Yelp. He gave us a reasonable estimate on nearly 900 sf of beige carpet as part of our moving out of a rental house. Found out that he regularly cleaned carpets for one of our neighbors (they liked his work too). Made apt. for a later date, he showed up on time, it took as long as he said it would, he cleaned up and nary a spot/stain was left. I appreciated that what ever he used didn't smell strong/nasty, and that he didn't try to sell me any extras. Very positive experience and will use him again in our new home. read more

1st Choice Green Clean (Dave Trager) has cleaned my carpet many times, and he always does an amazing job. About a month ago he came to clean just my entryway which takes the brunt of dirt and grime being tracked in from the outside. My carpet is a light beige and shows the dirt in that area first. Also, since it is the first footfall in the house, it tends to mat down in that area as well. Dave has previously used the truck-mounted steam cleaning method which has always been very effective, and sometimes, necessary. Like, for instance, last year when my dog had several "accidents", Dave used the steam method to remove the odor and sanitize the carpet. Perfect. This time he offered a new "low moisture" process he does now in addition to steam cleaning, which not only cleaned the carpet, but actually lifted the pile back up nearly to its original texture (this is an old carpet), AND - here's the best part - it dried in 20 minutes!! Oh, I've also noticed that the carpet is more resistant to re-soiling with this new technique. Dave said that it would be since this new process leaves a protective coat to prevent re-soiling. Just imagine - somebody who does a job so well that you don't need his services as often! I highly recommend 1st Choice Green Clean. Dave is a professional with many years experience - and it shows in his work. It's a joy to find a workman who is dedicated, knowledgeable, reliable, and all-round a pleasure to do business with. read more

1st Choice Green Clean is the way to go if you like a service industry person to be honest and upfront on what to expect with their service. Dave was fair on the price to clean our front room couch and chairs but was also accommodating with the timing of when the job would be completed. He was prompt and treated the job like it was his own furniture and was very through with the job. My wife and I are very happy with the results and the professionalism Dave gave to use with our couch cleaning needs. The experience was so good that we are considering to use him to clean our stone flooring in the kitchen. read more

Total professionalism! I called on a Friday and left a message that I would like to get my carpet and furniture cleaned. Within an hour, my call was returned by Dave, the owner. After explaining what I needed cleaned, he offered to come Monday at 10:00 to give me an estimate and told me that if I was ok with the estimate that he could do the job that day. A few minutes before 10:00, Dave called to let me know that his morning job was taking a little longer than expected, but felt he could be at my house by 11:00, which he was. I appreciated the honesty and being informed of the delay, as minor as it was! After being given the estimate, I agreed to have Dave get started. He explained everything he was doing. He was very conscientious, thorough, and took pride in his work. My carpeting looks fantastic, my sofa and love seat look like new. Even my husband's recliner, which is used A LOT has taken on a new life!! There was no heavy chemical odor. I definitely give 1st Choice a 5-star rating and totally intend on calling Dave for any future cleaning needs. read more

My carpets look great! Dave is knowledgeable, thorough and professional. He cleaned 2 wool area rugs and 2 bedroom wall to wall carpets. He informed me pricing was subject to stain types. The results were aligned with cost and value. I then hired him again to clean a synthetic rug- again with stellar results. He effectively communicated his e.t.a. and was professional. Awesome...highly recommend. read more

Recently had both my home and a 2 bd rental done. Dave recommended the "dry" system. I was initially a bit concerned about "new fangled" stuff - but results were great. He worked a the full day. Carpets and stairs look great - i liked that he got in and "scrubbed" the stairs,,, results were great. Couple of evaluation thoughts: (1) he was very responsive to a number of calls and emails explained the options etc (2) showed up on time as planned (!), (3) Dave did not try to "upsell" me on stuff. (4) he even got into the baseboards and edges, (5) The dry carpet format worked great - was dry in about 2 hours and feels nice and soft - no "tacky" or sticky feel that I've had from other prior cleaners, and (6) kept to price as agreed. Good price - great service and results. read more

Dave was such a pleasure to work with! I had an extremely tight budget but he worked with me and did a fantastic job on my kitchen counter tops and kitchen/bathroom tile floors. The previous owner didn't really take care of the floors, so the grout was extremely dark and heavily set in. The counter tops were also very stained and dirty. However, Dave got everything out. They look brand, spankin' new! I am so pleased with the results, I am quite speechless. Dave is just a good, honest man and is extremely good at what he does. I would recommend him to anyone without reservation. Thank you for the fantastic work and impeccable service, Dave! read more

Dave of 1st Choice Green Clean, saved the day. I recently got a new pet which soiled my carpet pretty badly during potty training. However, I was so upset because my new light carpet was very spotted and aesthetically unpleasing. I was concerned the carpet was ruined but Dave proved that it wasn't. After treating and cleaning the carpet, it looks amazing. Like I said, Dave saved the day and my carpet too. If you are looking for an honest, professional and pleasure to work with Capet cleaning company, I encourage you to call Dave. I know you'll be just as pleased as I was. Crystal read more

The stains kept coming back. I called Dave (the owner) and he came out for an estimate for my carpet and my couch. He was very friendly and took his time going over the estimate with me. Dave with 1st choice is fantastic. He responded to my voicemail in under an hour and cleaned my carpet the next day. The carpet looked brand new after he was done with them. i have a toddler and a baby and felt at ease knowing he was using environmentally clean, non toxic product on our carpets. Dave came out and cleaned and protected a big room in my house a couple weeks ago and did a fantastic job. He communicated well before the job, walked me through every stage of the process and showed me side by side comparisons of cleaned and uncleaned areas. Thank you Dave Trager for a superior carpet cleaning. We're in Leisure World, Seal Beach with no direct entry for a truck. Dave had to return to his shop for extra hose and even than just barely making it. Dave constantly re-adjusted his equipment which I'm sure was exhausting ;removing outside screen from our bedroom window to clean bedroom carpeting. Dave had to jump through hoops to clean our carpets is putting it mildly. Oh yes, roofing was being removed at the same time as well.
