Excellent food, amazing service. We ordered butter chicken, dal makhani, naans, and masala chai. They were all very tasty. Service was amazing too.

Stepping into culinary bliss at 1947 Eatery. From the moment we entered we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. We had mentioned in our reservation that we were celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. Onkar the duty manager, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. The ambiance is a perfect blend of elegance and coziness, setting the stage for a truly unforgettable dining experience. They have an autorickshaw in the restaurant! They have a great selection of cocktails & spirits, definitely try Kingfisher beer And as for the food? Prepare to have your taste buds transported to a whole new level of deliciousness. Every bite is a symphony of flavors, beautifully plated and crafted with passion. Authentic Indian food, we loved the Dum Chicken, Pani Puri, Seekh Kebabs, Roomali Roti, Samosa Chaat & the Jalebi. Trust me, you won't want to leave! Definitely recommended! The best Indian food I've had in Auckland!

If you are in New Zealand you must not miss this place foodies.. Last night, we a group of five n a toddler visited the 1947 Eatery in Auckland City for dinner and I must say it is one of the best Restaurants serving Indian cuisine in Auckland... Worth spending every penny , beautiful ambience, very friendly staff and super delicious food ... So we started with some Cocktails n Mocktails ( different flavours but special ones) .. had Chilli chicken n wannabe drumsticks for starters, Chicken Biriyani, Butter chicken, Butter Naan n Lamb Pepper fry for main course. The Butter Chicken was the main highlight and a must try. Rating : 5/5

Great Indian meal close to the Sky Tower. Good size Resturant pretty full for a Thursday night but we sat right away and service was quick. Everything is made fresh so takes a little extra time but it wasn't more than 25 min. We had the Bang Bang Butter Chicken, Bade Miyan chicken, and garlic cheese naan. All were perfectly seasoned and the chicken very tender. However, we weren't told that rice did not accompany the meal so we had to wait for our rice order to eat. The drinks are very original! I had a Gin drink that came out with a smoking cinnamon stick and my husbands drink came with two parts. The waitress poured the drink at the table made with hickory smoke... smelled sooo good. I wish I could remember the name of the drink and it was my favorite of the two!

The vibe is authentic and the wait staff take time to give you the history behind the restaurant and it's roots. Nice touch!

Except for the screaming kids it was a great experience. I just don't understand how it's ok to let your kids shriek in a restaurant.

We were a hungry group of four girls and at 17ish dollars a head we were well catered for. Starters we went with the lovely owners suggestions and tried three starter between us, one potatoes dish one fried coriander (trust me you just have to try) and one fried sago dish all came with lovely dips and sauces and at $4 or $5 each an impressive serving. Main We shared 2 Thali's which is a kinda set plate with pickles, salad, spiced rice, dal and breads. every was very tasty Desert Even thou we where heading into the too full stage by now the deserts were interesting enough to tempt us, I had the Shrikhand which was sweet and full of flavour and interesting blend of cardamon and sweet sugar. a little defiantly goes a long way... All washed down with Mango Lassi which looked a vibrant colour. I will be back no doubt with more friends to tow to show off this little gem in Sandringham.

My cousins were rugby players and we were all poor students so we loved it but I've got admit the food wasn't great - super heavy, sugar laden curries. A far cry from what you'll get at Satya. For starters, Satya is a South Indian restaurant so the curries are a lighter style with a thinner sauce, generally made with coconut. But on top of this their curries are made with a certain finesse - no heavy hands here - instead a delicate balance of spices, without all the sugar! Their menu is extensive and for someone like me, who is no expert, it can be intimidating. Luckily, two of our dining companions had travelled extensively throughout India and guided us through the ordering process. We ordered several dishes to share. My favourites were the Dahi Puri entrée - delicious bit sized morsels of potato & chickpea with tangy tamarind chutney and yoghurt on a crispy chickpea cracker - and the eggplant coconut with potato, green peas and ginger. To be honest, I don't think you could go too far wrong no mater what you ordered. Because there is so much to try Satya is best enjoyed with a group, plus it's BYO and they take bookings! It may be more expensive that your typical Indian takeaway but trust me, it's worth it!
