Shredded pork with pickled vegetables - Someone was craving soup, I did not try, but they seemed to like it. Shanghai pan fried pork buns - My favorite. Good proportions with bread and filling. Shanghai salted pork and veg fried rice - Not good or bad, the dish did not stand out, fairly plain but good enough as a comfort dish. String beans with dried shrimp - Gotta have some veggies, same as above. Shanghai stir fried noodles - Another one of my favorite dishes, love those noodles. Tea from real tea leaves, see picture. Atmosphere - Medium size restaurant. Some portions of the restaurant sectioned off, potentially for private events. Open kitchen & open kitchen counter seating. Cool decor. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 8:30pm or 9pm; website hours differ. Direct competitor next door, you might be putting them out of business? Service - Okay, went out of our way to get the waitress and manager attention to let us pay. Our guests are aggressive, and we wanted to make sure we paid. The team was slightly confused, so I had to check with the waitress and manager several times to get their assurances that we were paying. Membership, loyalty program. See website. Price - After all that fighting for the bill, I signed the check in a hurry and did not even know what I paid. I'm guessing $150AUD, $100US...? Which I believe includes tax and tip? Sorry, can't remember. I just remembered being frazzled... Reasonable price for what we got. Owner Comment - Congrats on your 12 locations and growing! Oh, are you a franchise system? Just noticed it on your website.

There are some outstanding dishes (XLB) and the prices are quite reasonable for the portion size as compared to other restaurants in Sydney. + Really delicious XLB. Compared to Din Tai Fung's XLB (which I had in Seattle area), I think I enjoyed these more. Soup was good, the filling was nice and smooth. The skin was thin but not as fragile and I even enjoyed the thicker bit where the XLBs are sealed. + Weekday lunch specials are a great deal (~$9.80). + Dishes are prepared quickly without sacrificing quality and presentation. + Pastry with red bean paste was also very good as a dessert. The sesame seeds on top add a nice nuttiness to the flaky pastry.

Both noodles were good but clearly the same noodle used - and was fun to find nearly meter long noodles in your bowl. Cucumber salad had tomato and soy, I enjoyed, my dining companion did not quite as much (but we still ate it all). Fried meat buns were pretty good but by the time they arrived we were pretty full so hard to say we gave a fair assessment.

It's pretty crowded inside, lots of close tables, and the decor is very basic - but I'm pretty sure most people are there for the food, not the atmosphere. We usually go for flavour noodles (it's like a pork spaghetti bolognese but with noodles), black fungus with egg (tastes better than it sounds!) and either steamed or fried dumplings. The steamed dumplings can take a while to come out though. Other food comes out really fast! The hot and sour soup with chopped noodles is also pretty good, and comes in a huge bowl that can be shared between about 3-4 people. Also, the tea is free, which is always nice. The only downside to this place is the cleanliness. It's not dirty, but the bowls are often wet, as are the chopsticks or cutlery. It might make you wonder how well everything has been washed... If that bothers you, this might not be the place for you :). There are a few places in Burwood with a similar setup, and they all seem very popular, so I'm not too concerned about it. I would definitely recommend Seabay if you are looking for good value and a quick meal in Burwood. I have seen another Seabay in Eastwood, which I think is the same (the signs look the same, I didn't go in though).

Since the sate was thick it trapped the heat in and I burnt my tongue trying to slurp down the tasty noodles. The consistency of the noodles were good, not too soft and soggy. The meat slices were OK, but it crumbs up too much in my opinion, leaving only a couple of "larger" pieces and the rest so small it's difficult to really taste the meat. However, the portion size was large, even though we only ordered the small sizes. This place definitely satisfied our cravings. Service was just ok, just flag the staff down when you need them. Verdict: A-OK, will visit again if in the area

Macau Noodle Kitchen (澳門小廚) is located on the street corner of Burwood St and George St. The…read morespacious and simple interior is that of a typical Chinese restaurant where you would expect to find authentic food at. The service is a bit slow, with the abundance of locals and the few staff outside the kitchen. We ordered the Char Siu Low Mein (叉燒撈麵) , Seafood Congee (海鮮粥) and Stir-fried Chinese Kale with Ginger (薑汁芥蘭). The roasted pork is cut into generous slices, laid atop the hill of noodles. The Char Siu has the signature crimson glaze, charred on the edges and soft in the middle. The pork isn't particularly juicy, but the right balance of sweet and salty makes up for chewiness in some pieces. The blanched noodles and cabbage are not seasoned at all - the low mein is supposed to be glowing with a rich coat of soy sauce - providing only texture and confusing taste of rawness. While we are provided with table-side salt, pepper and soy sauce, the flavoring is still missing. The seafood congee has the same issue; while both the rice and the various seafood ingredients are cooked to the right degrees, the complete lack of flavoring can't be overlooked. The stir-fry has a nice, mild undertone of ginger, but the stems are fiber-y and undercooked (result of being stir fried with the leaves without being separately blanched first), forcing us to leave behind the stems in a locust-swarm style. Overall, the serving sizes are quite huge for the price, good for gluttonous eaters and those who want a undemanding meal with some good char siu pork.
