One guy working, the other guy standing there watching him. They ground the big one and then the small one. No raking to see if they got it all. My husband checked one of them and found a big piece he missed. He came back and got that one. Going forward 3 weeks we our getting the wood chips removed, our yard evened out and grass planted and boom...their machine hits a big part of stump hidden under all the wood chips..then they find 3 more that are not ground down under soil. My husband calls the owner( Greg) and he changed his number?? I looked it up and found another number, he answers and says I'll have the guy out today or tomorrow....that was Saturday....no guy..Sunday...no guy, then he texts Monday and says he would come that day..again..no guy...it is now Tuesday and he isn't answering his phone. Didn't get what we payed for and apparently he doesn't want to make it right. NOW we are having to pay for someone else to come grind the pieces for us... On top of that, it had been covered in a solid stain and I wanted to bring back the natural wood grain if possible. I had one contractor come by, and they refused to quote the job, as it would be too large for their crew. The next contractor that came gave me a quote, but it was clear he didn't want to sand and strip the deck, rather preferring to just wash it and put a fresh coat on. I didn't get a good feeling about the attention to detail they would provide. Then Jim from Grand Reflection came out. He's the owner. He's the estimator. He's the lead worker. He explained all of my options and was very honest about the pros and cons to each. He didn't try to sell me the easy solution, but he didn't push the most expensive either. His communication via phone and email was impeccable. He arrived at the times he said he would arrive. If the weather was bad, I got an email or text letting me know it wasn't a good day to work on the deck, and he let me know when he expected to return. Once the contract was signed, nothing changed. His crew of two (he and one other gentleman) came daily. They arrived early and worked late. It was a two week job and he was on site for the full shift each and every day. Jim obviously takes a ton of pride in his craftsmanship. The work itself was tedious and back breaking. No detail was sacrificed. Each board needed sanded. He worked in between the boards with hand tools. Screws and nails needed sunk. He prepped and stained all visible surfaces, and the undersides, and hidden nooks and corners that nobody will ever see! When you care for the areas nobody sees, you are a class act. We are absolutely thrilled with our major deck rehab and restoration and I consider it the pride of our home.
