Perfect little cafe bar with a nice wine selection in the town centre well worth a visit. The great ingredients really show through and the lack of faffing about with them is probably for the best. I've tried the Calamari (delicious), the anti-pasta platter (HUGE and tasty) and a lovely al-dente pasta dish plus a couple of their famous melts all in all yummy. I know I'll be going back again and again and have already introduced a few of my friends.

I was looking for a good place to have lunch, somewhere new and exciting, and I came across the…read morewebsite of Port Side Bistro. I was impressed and intrigued by their menu and was not disappointed. I have visited this location under other ownership and management before, and they finally have seemed to get it right! My friend and I decided that a late Friday afternoon would be the best time to go to avoid any massive queueing and surprisingly we were correct. It was an absolute delight, from the warm atmosphere to the friendly and unobtrusive waitress to the impeccable food. They also had a great selection of drinks, including beer on tap and spirits. All of the food is made with fresh local ingredients, and if there is something that is not on the menu that you want, the chef is quite accommodating if you ask. The restaurant itself is very nice inside, well laid-out, has a good intimate feel to it, and great light from windows that span the front of the building. My companion and I shared the Italian Job Ciabatta (Italian style meatballs sauteed in Napoli sauce and topped with melted Mozzarella cheese), the Bacon and Brie Ciabatta (both came with a side salad and home made cole slaw) and an order of onion rings. Both sandwiches were very large and tasty, but the bacon and Brie had to be my favourite. The onion rings were golden brown, tasty and cooked to perfection. We were both impressed by the exemplary service, fantastic menu, vast selection of drinks on offer, interesting wine list and reasonable pricing. it is nice to have a restaurant in town that has a nice decor, quick service and that is reasonably priced. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for someone looking for great tasting food and good value. I look forward to trying their outdoor tapas menu and enjoying some of their live music evenings (every Wednesday and Friday from 7:30PM) in the future!

But never mind (early booking recommended but if not near the tanks I would suggest you book when one is) the food was fine, had a lot worse, the staff where pleasant and willing to please. On our second visit we did this time get a table near the tanks which made the visit interesting and could wander around after our meal. The food however was still Ok but not the best but also I've had a lot worse. NOTE THAT THIS RESAURANT IS ONLY OPEN ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY EVENINGS

The restaurant is for now only open in the evening on Fridays and Saturdays, but it is simply amazing as you will be eating inside a huge aquariums with shoals of fish swimming by you. While you are waiting for the courses to be brought at your table you are encouraged to visit the other exhibits which are just breathtaking. The atmosphere is therefore amazing, the food is terrific too. I had a very tasty starter of Moroccan meatballs, followed by a gargantuan fillet of halibut in a delicious lemongrass sauce. All in all at £70 for two with a bottle of champagne it was excellent value for money, great food and a terrific atmosphere, what an amazing place!
