A good experience over all. We visited on a Sunday as we were celebrating my mom's 79th birthday…read moreearly by exploring the Horicon marsh area. I live in Madison and she lives in Green Bay so we like to meet some where in the middle and find neat museums or events to visit. Well Mom wanted to visit the Horicon Marsh "Explorium" which we did. I would recommend. After we were looking for someplace local for lunch and found this pub in the town of Horicon. I was a little disappointed that the menu wasn't more Irish for an "Irish" pub but it was a good selection of Wisconsin American pub food. Burgers, wraps, pizza, fried apps, etc. looked like a large selection of beers and White Claw type alcohol drinks but as we had long drives we did not partake. I had the cheese burger with tots to share and Mom had the black bean burger. We were happy to see a couple of vegetarian options on the menu as Mom sometimes struggles with this. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Mom didn't want to sit at the bar because she is short and all the stools were tall. We instead were recommended a table in a sort of half partitioned side room. The stools were still tall but they had foot rings so Moms feet didn't dangle. It was also quiet enough we could talk easily vs. the bar area. Food arrived promptly and was well prepared. My burger was cooked perfectly and Mom's bean burger was served with sautéed mushrooms on a toasted bun. Both special requests. My tots were a big hit with Mom and I for being super crunchy but not over cooked. Value, our entire meal with several soda refills was $21. I think that is extremely reasonable. Note if that staff ever read this. I always try to pay when out with my Mom (especially when celebrating her b-day). But she's a stubborn lady. I've been paying admissions and souvenirs the last few trips to museums which I did again at the Explorium. So Mom insisted. I hope she tipped you well! Only complaint please add one Irish dish. I'd recommend "shepherd's" pie (really farmer's pie as lamb availability/price might not work). And more potatoes!

Every meal my staff and I have had at Danny Boys has been great. The burgers are excellent. If you…read moreare ever nearby, I would highly suggest stopping in to have a great meal. The staff is very nice and fun to be around, as well.

I was able to get out of work early on a Friday and make my way up there to beat the dinner rush. In addition to the Fisherman's Platter, which I got with potato pancakes, I ordered cheese nuggets. The cheese nuggets were not what I was hoping for. I wanted a nice crunchy breading, but instead they had the cornmeal-like breading that I can't stand on cheese curds because it doesn't get crunchy and retains too much grease. I ate some because I didn't want to waste all the money I spent on them, but I didn't finish them. If you want a large fish fry for a reasonable price given the amount of food ($20.95 as of 2/24/2023), the Fisherman's Platter is no joke. The meal consisted of six shrimp, four pieces of cod, four pieces of bluegill, two pieces of "perch", and three potato pancakes when you choose that for your side. The potato pancakes were not homemade, but that's not necessarily a problem. I appreciated getting three of them while most places would probably only give you two. The shrimp was very lightly breaded, almost to the point of not being breaded at all. It was a good contrast to the breading on all of the other items if you don't want everything heavily deep fried. The four pieces of cod were small and were probably the equivalent of two regular size pieces at most other restaurants. The bluegill where the greasiest of all the items and had more of a farm-raised taste than a fresh-out-of-the-lake taste. I put perch in quotations above because I believe this was pike, not truly perch, based on the size, shape, and flavor of the two large pieces. Not bad, but not the quality of yellow perch and not surprising since pike doesn't cost nearly as much as yellow perch. I thought the cod was the best of all the seafood on the plate. I'm not going to go back just for that, but if I happen to ever be out that way again on a Friday, I'd stop for the cod with potato pancakes and maybe pair them with the shrimp to get the contrast in texture. As a note, The Marsh Inn is cash only. They have an ATM with a $2.75 surcharge (as of 2/24/2023) for withdrawing.
