Carol definitely serves the best pies I've ever tasted. I've tried a few flavours with great…read moresuccess! ... but can't go past the chunky beef as my favourite. The filling is well seasoned with melt in your mouth chunks of beef. The pastry is delicious and buttery... but not messily over the top flakey. Spot on! Carol's offer normal sized pies for around $5 and a family sized pie for around $20. They have frozen stock at times so you can save it away in the freezer for when you have a pie craving (if you can resist not eating it straight away!!) Carol does some enormous (huge!) sausage rolls which are delish as well. Not your dubious quality servo sausage roll. These are top notch! There's also other dishes available which I'm yet to try ... However I'd imagine they're bang on yummy home cooking (... but better than home cooking) going by what I've tried so far!!! Recommend you stop by, but please leave a pie or two for me ;)

Carol's Pies is an unassuming little shop on bustling Bell Street. Wedged between a car dealership…read moreand a laundromat, you could be forgiven for missing it. Carol and her husband Keith run this place by themselves, with an emphasis on top notch food. They provide fresh baked goods and also pre-made meals. The shop itself is neat and clean. There are display cases as soon as you walk through the door, and depending on what they've whipped up, you could buy anything from muffins, salads, mac and cheese, biscuits, pasta bakes, cakes etc... But for me, the stand out item here is her pies. I have never had a pie this delicious. In fact, I might be under selling them a tad...these are the best pies in Melbourne! The pastry is perfectly flaky and golden and inside is the most amazing fillings. My favourite is the chunky beef, but she also does many other styles such as curried beef mince, Thai chicken and lamb. I'm probably leaving out a few but you get the idea. This is one of those places you would go out of your way to visit just to get some beautiful home style comfort food. Carol and Keith always make you feel welcome.

Quite a place to have a brunch. Fast, friendly service. There is a deli too. Reasonable prices.read more

When you first see this place you may wonder why I have given it five stars. I was also very…read moreskeptical when my friend suggested we go here to help ease our prodigious hangovers. I had gone past this place many many times assuming it was a roadside bakery likely be the dining place of truck drivers on the long haul. I even had no idea it was a Lebanese deli, bakery and shop. As you go inside you still may not be overawed with a sense that this place will deliver you five stars of goodness. It does after all look like a cross between said truck driver cafe and continental supermarket. But if you make your way to the back of the store towards the large brick oven stars will slowly start creeping into your eyes. You spot an array of delicious doughy baked treats at outstandingly low prices between $2.50-$5.00. And then it will dawn on you that the $3 lLebanese pizza, the $4 spinach and feta calzone, spiced lamb minced topped bread, and haloumi cheese pie are all worth a star each on their own. Then you will bite into any one of these delights and shebang! The fifth star will hit your tongue. Feeling stuffed full of doughy treats, you will head round the shop buying all sorts of delicious Lebanese delights. You will even buy some more expensive cheeses and olives from their deli section - because you know that you have already saved money by tucking into their ridiculously cheap and yummy baked goods. And then you will walk out the door swearing that you will tell everyone they absolutely must come here regardless of the fact that it is in the far flung streets of Preston.
