Extremely poor apartment building for the price you have to pay. I moved from a bachelor where I paid $800 and loved it more for the value. Bachelors here start at 1100, one bedroom $1400.
CONS
- Extremely rude, uncooperative, privacy invasive management. Building and units have many issues that simply get ignored by the office, regardless of how many times you try to ask.
- major heating problems all winter long. I've had 3 little space heaters working all winter. I tried to complain but the super came in, measured room temperature and said 17C is "okay" room temperature. For $1400 units do not come with A/C in the summer.
- To my complete SHOCK, in the four years I lived here there has been reports of bed bugs and roaches. I have also been told they had a bad problem with mice few years before I moved.
- building is very old, units aren't sound proof at all, so you can hear EVERYTHING: neighbours talking, taking shower, doing dishes, their music, lots of noise that building makes on its own at night (pipes? Elevator?)
- laundry room isn't in the best condition. I got excited when they replaced old washers with new washers, only to realise they're half the size of the old ones, needless to say I had to spend almost twice to do my laundry with new ones.
- I did have my ceiling leak, leaving brown/yellow stains on the ceiling in my LIVING ROOM!! Also staining my old couch in the process. It took more than a month to try to arrange them to fix it.
- routine water shut downs, at least twice a month. Usually, during day time 9-4pm. Huge problem for someone that doesnt work 9-5, like myself.
- there was a homeless person living in the staircase on my floor at one point
- pool is small and has capacity for only 10 people, so every morning people come out to get the chairs and you aren't even allowed to be there; the times I got lucky enough to get to the constantly broken chair, the pool water was either freezing or "soup hot" without exaggeration!!!
- the back/west entrance/exit lobby always smells like garbage. As soon as you exit theres garbage containers and a terrible smell and puddles of dog urine and cigarette smell, because the woman that works in the office constantly smokes there and leaves her cigarette butts.
- there is a strong smell of weed in the lobby once in a while
- they claim the units are renovated. Mine hasnt been and the ones that have been had very small cosmetic things done to them
- i have been on the waiting list for a locker for 3 years and never got it since I moved
Bottom line, the price isn't worth what the building is offering. I was much happier with old $800 bachelor. Here, it's unpleasant surprises almost on daily basis.
Please, don't let the pretty lobby with nice tiles fool you into thinking the rest of the building is as nice. read more
