I made a reservation last week for dinner at 7 on Sunday 15th January, today. On the form I let them know that it was my wife's birthday. I had a question about whether they were licensed so tried the contact form on the website. This returned an error, saying it hasn't been properly set up, so I tried their email, which bounced saying no route to host. I went on Facebook and got them on Messenger, where I explained that I'd made a reservation for Sunday & needed to know if they were able to sell wine or if they ran a dry establishment, ie no alcohol. The chap who answered assured me that yes they were still in business, thanked me for letting him know his website wasn't fully working, and that yes, they would be able to sell us alcoholic drinks on the night as they were fully licensed. Great, all set then.
So tonight we get all dolled up & get in the car, get there & find a parking spot, only, hold on, there's no light in the window, and a notice taped up: had to close for a few days for maintenance.
Now, given that the reservation form takes your phone number & email address, it would have been possible to contact everyone who had reservations tonight & let them know, right?
Apparently even that's beyond them. So yeah, the menu is full of pictures of lovely food, but I really cannot recommend anyone book a table here, because if you do & something happens in their end, you are not going to be able to make alternative arrangements in time.
We're ordering a Chinese Takeaway tonight for my wife's birthday. I like Chinese food, but this is not how we envisaged spending the evening. If I could give zero stars or negative stars I would. They've failed on the most basic level. They couldn't be open and they couldn't use the contact details they'd got to tell us ahead of time. read more
