Wonderful food and service! The crabcakes and smoked salmon are wonderful! Gas lanterns, and dark wood inside for a very cozy feel.

Always delicious! The deviled eggs on the appetizers is a must have. I always love getting their fish special no matter what it is!

131 Main has been around for a very long time, they stick to the staples on their menu which makes it easy for them to excel and remain consistent. I believe they are slightly over priced for some things but that won't stop me from supporting them. I will say that the grilled artichokes are amazing and deserve a return visit for them alone. They're served with some type of sauce which really just puts them in a class all by themselves. They crab cakes were pretty good and very nicely sized for the price, but I wasn't over joyed with them so I probably wouldn't order them again. The braised cabbage was also good but not great. Again, for the price I need greatness and aside from the artichoke, it was just ok for me on this visit. read more

This restaurant was recommended by my co-worker for a colleagues going away dinner. I didn't know what to expect by it's mustard building, but I knew my coat matched perfectly! (LOL) Once I entered, I could feel the ambiance. I knew I was going to enjoy my dining experience once I browsed the menu. My favorite was the cornbread! I hadn't had anything like it before with the dipping/drizzle sauce. It's homemade and hearty. Everything we had was delicious. The prices are reasonable for the type of dining experience. I'd save this place for a date, dining with girlfriends, or corporate meeting. Keep the kids at home or bring them a plate. You'll want to dive into your meal with no distractions! Our daughter has been craving trout for some time so for her birthday, based on the reviews, we decided to visit 131 MAIN. We are so glad we did. She was very happy & commented that 131 "really knocked it out of the park!" We started off with the Cast Iron Cornbread & the Ahi Tuna Stack. Both appetizers were fantastic. For our entrees, besides the NC Rainbow Trout we had Maryland Style Crab Cakes, Blackened Chicken Pasta and I had the Big Island Ribeye. My steak was perfectly cooked & the pineapple soy marinade bumped up the flavor greatly. Another comment was, "it is rare that ALL the sauces compliment the various dishes so well!" Overall, our meals were exceedingly delicious! The only thing I left debating about was the price/value. I came to the conclusion though that you have to have an occasion to splurge and when you factor in the ambiance, excellent service and quality of food, it is worth it! read more

What can you say about a restaurant that has no freezer? Well you know your food is fresh, especially your flown in seafood. You can never go wrong with their catch of the day! Everything I have ever had at this 131 Main location has been fantastic. They are tried and true in the Lake Norman area. Although they have expanded throughout the years, I still think this is the best location. It is nice to meet someone after work and sit around the fire pit. The patio is great but it faces a busy road, so you need to be okay with some road noise. If it is a nice day out, I think it is worth it. Tuesday is half priced wine night and a great time for a date night or girls night out. Some of my favorites...double dip appetizer is a mix of pimento and guacamole; love all the fish items (even the fish sandwich at lunch); anything with fries is never a bad choice; their salads are great size and so good. They have a daily soup at lunch time (not sure if they have it at dinner too). I've been running around and even stopped in for an order fries and a side kale salad for lunch...balance ‍. Both are excellent and all I wanted. Key lime pie is an excellent dessert option...get it and share it or take some home...it is huge! Enjoy! read more

Dinner, Lunch and Sunday Brunch are all good. Been awhile since we have been here so my wife and I decided to visit the Sunday Brunch again. Church ended at 10:30 and by the time we collected everything and drove over it was 10:50. They don't open for Sunday Brunch till 11:00 so we waited a few minutes and walked in. Almost perfect timing. We were the first couple in and were immediately seated in a booth down the first aisle. 131 tends to have lower lighting that I like and with all of the dark, wood it can be a bit hard to read the menu. To make matters worst, shortly after placed our order, the closed all of the blinds and the dark got darker. Both of us started out with coffee which was excellent. Bold and Rich with excellent flavor. Menu is creative and well executed and both my wife an I opted for one of the Benedict's. She ordered the Steak Benedict while I went for the Crab Cake Benedict. . Both came with White Cheddar Grits and Grilled Asparagus as well. While we waited, our server made sure that we did not want for anything. Our cups and water glasses were constantly full. When my wife excused herself to go the restroom, she left her napkin on her seat. The served came over and picked it up and refolded it for here. A mark of a good restaurant that pays attention to details and to their customers. Both dishes came out in a timely fashion. I'm a fan of presentation and plating which is almost a lost art but not here. Not only were the dishes appealing to the taste but also very visually appealing. As for the entree itself, both were excellent. The Crab Benedict maintained the delicate flavor and texture of the crab cake and while I am not a fan or grits which is ironic since I am a Southerner, these grits were delicious and may make me a fan. Asparagus was excellent. Nice and tender with no hint of toughness. My wife enjoyed here Steak Benedict as well. She ordered medium and she got a perfect medium with exactly the right amount of pink. Not dry and very flavorful as well. Portion sizes were large. I am a gregarious eater and ended up leaving a small amount of grits and not because I did not like them but because I was sated. My wife ended up with a to go box which she had for lunch the next day. They call it a doggy bag but believe me, the Corgi lost out on this one. 131 Main is always delicious. We love the deviled eggs as an appetizer. Everything on the menu is delicious, and you can't miss the banana cream pie. You might not think you like banana cream pie, and I would still highly encourage you to try theirs. One piece is as big as your head, so consider if you want to share, but no judgment if not. The bananas are fresh, the crust is delicious, homemade whipped cream, caramel and chocolate sauce push you over the edge. My husband and I would go for a glass of wine and piece of pie before we had a kid. Date night will come again. It's typically pretty dark inside, which is great ambiance, but my grandmother and mom had trouble reading the menu without additional light (hooray smartphones!). Two months ago I tried 131 Main and have been a regular ever since. 131 Main offers an easy way to make reservations, easy access, great selections and even better service. I was there last night with 2 business associates and enjoyed the ribeye with a great Cabernet. Due to the fact that the others in my party were vegetarian, they enjoyed salads. I have been fortunate to try most everything on the menu - the lamb shanks are amazing, the pasta is a good change of pace, the salmon is also fantastic. Bottom line is that you can find something to suit your taste and be guaranteed the quality will outstanding. If going, I would recommend requesting Eryn as you server. She is enthusiastic and a tremendous asset to the place. She is great with recommendations and always attentive. I have been fortunate to have her wait on my groups for the past 2 months as we always request her. The bottom line is that there are other options in the Lake area for high end dining, but 131 remains my top selection. read more

My wife and I hadn't been to 131Main in a number of years. We had a reservation for early Sunday evening. When we got there the place was really hopping. Lots of customers but also a lot of staff. Quite surprised for a Sunday evening. We were a little early for our reservation time but the host greeted us and asked if we wanted a table or booth. We opted for a table. Once seated, a waiter was right there to fill us in on the specials of the day. During the whole evening even though the staff was constantly bustling around, the waitstaff was constantly keeping an eye on the customers. We started with their smoked salmon appetizer. It was excellent and sufficient for two people. My wife ordered one of the specials; a grouper dish. I had the Chicago ribeye. We both substituted the sides for roasted cauliflower. Everything was done to perfection. We also had a bottle of the High Note Malbec, which was very pleasing. At no time did we feel rushed. We had time for before-dinner drinks, dessert, and an after-dinner drink. We were there for almost 3 hours. There are no pictures because we were too busy enjoying the evening. read more

UPDATE: A year since my previous bad experience I returned. My partner surprised me for my birthday. I was skeptical but willing. I was glad I went by the time the night was over. While I didn't get anything above and beyond for my birthday the service I received was well timed and respectful and knowledgeable. Last minute Friday night decision. We were seated right away. My BF ordered the cornbread to start. I had the loaded potato soup. The cornbread wasn't fresh out of the oven, just warm. Still melts in your mouth. He loved their honey. It was too sweet for me. The potato soup was just as luke warm. Not hot enough for the cheese to melt. It was still tasty. I had the crab cake salad, subbing mixed greens for the basic kale salad. BF had the trout, that comes with kale salad. Have I ever mentioned that the kale salad here is one of the best things to eat in Charlotte? It is absolutely Devine. Shredded kale, Parmesan cheese, lemon (?), something with a hint of spice... and secret happiness. Best thing since sliced bread. My crab cake was moist with mostly crab. With real crab, you get shell, and I got a little more than I would like. The trout was perfection. Very flavorful. No need to add any salt or pepper or anything. It was perfect. I'm getting it when I return. Service was nice and there's a 100% chance I'll be back in the next week. read more
