The Smiling Cow was one such place, and like with everything she wrote, she was spot-on accurate with her assessments. I have two grandchildren, so all shopping is based on what to buy THEM. Not me or my husband, not my daughters or son-in-law, but my grandchildren. So, of course, I made my way to the stuffed animals and Christmas ornaments where I was able to find some things to buy. Very cute things. I wish my back didn't start aching, or I would've likely bought more things. I guess that's a good reason to return some day. One can hope.

This was one of the larger shops in the Main Street stretch of shops in Camden. Also due to the large space they had the largest variety of goods available. I suspect and hope much of the items are locally made. Some things that stood out were beautiful made wooden cutting bowls, wooden bowls, and some cool looking metal lamps. No interaction with staff here during our visit so can't speak to service. Didn't look at the prices of a lot of items but I suspect some if not a lot of the items would be pricy but everything did seem well made. Was worth our time to browse and I suggest you do the same. They had a great variety of skin care products, some clothing, candles and even some bundles of lavender. Basically everything you could imagine coming in lavender scent you will find here. Prices seemed reasonable considering it's a heavily trafficked tourist area. We didn't buy anything but as leaving the owner thanked us for coming in, so friendly and welcoming. If you are a fan of lavender it's a no brainer, you must visit.

She has always told me about how great the store is and how wonderful their products are. From what I can tell from their website, they carry a little bit of everything from seasonal items to household goods and appliances and all types of food items. They carry a large selection of their own brand of specialty foods. In my gift box, I received some of Stonewall Kitchen's Flatbread Crisps, Artichoke Spinach Dip Mix, Roasted Garlic Onion Dip Mix, Sun-Dried Tomato Olive Spread, Holiday Jam, and Maine Maple Champagne Mustard. So far, I have eaten all the Flatbread crisps with some of the Roasted Garlic Onion Dip Mix and with some of the Tomato Olive Spread. They were all delicious. I could have eaten the whole bowl of the Roasted Garlic Onion Dip Mix I prepared. It was so good! I also received a cute dish towel with a map of Maine and 2012 calendar and a great book, "Food Lover's Companion." I am very lucky to have been introduced to the neat things they have at this store. I usually stock-up on products, spend several hundred dollars and either take them with me in the car or ship them home to New Jersey AND get complimentary shipping. This trip, I flew and was prepared to shop a big order & have it shipped home. When I inquired of the sales person about shipping charges, (a regular employee) I was told that I would have to pay shipping-regardless of what I spent. When I advised the clerk that I always got free shipping(based on the money I spent in the store) he/she advised me that he's only a cashier and that's the rules. I advised him that I could go on-line, get free shipping and not support this store. As I was leaving, I heard derogatory remarks being mumbled from the associate. As a retail executive, I don't know of any retail store that would turn away a large sale over principal do you?
