talk about a comeback…read more The Southern Table staff and management sought to ensure we had a great experience this time and excelled. Great customer service and I greatly appreciate their accountability/ willingness to make up for our previous visit. Last night we started with the crab croquettes, STELLAR. Absolutely loved and devoured these. The crunch on the croquette was to die for, topped with a refreshing crab salad, perfect. For my entree, I had the lamb rack with house potatoes & broccolini. My boyfriend had the blackened catfish with the grits. Both dishes were phenomenal . To finish up we tried their new chocolate strawberry bread pudding, so rich and delicious. This restaurant is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in Northern Alabama. Go give them a try! We'll 100% be back.

I suppose that's true If you're hunting…read morelodge looks like an early 20th century brick building with a few deer heads grouped in one spot on the wall and a small black bear above the door. This seemed to want to be a foodie destination. The half fried chicken included a small drumstick, small wing, piece of breast, and another piece that was unidentifiable but might have been a thigh. It had a spicy sweet sauce covering, which we opted to have on the side. That was a good choice because the hint of Cayenne was still too much for one diner. We asked about the slaw -- whether it was had a cream or vinegar dressing. The server described it as a "creamy vinegar." It made no difference because the dressing was so understated that the side tasted more like chopped cabbage than anything else. Disappointing. Finally, I asked the server whether the grilled green beans were actually that. I was more curious than anything else because grilled green beans would be would take longer to cook. She said yes, they were grilled. I don't think so. They came out fairly quickly and were pretty universally blackened on one side. Once our food was delivered, we never saw our server again until I asked her for the check. So, what I believe was intended to be an elevated dining experience was simply under executed.

I just love it! Ambiance is as close to mom's kitchen as it gets! We drove 30 minutes from Huntsville to have lunch. And the price--in a metropolitan area, you'd pay 3x the price of a plate. Delicious!!

This…read moreplace was hopping on a Saturday afternoon, we got here right at 1130ish and were able to easily find a seat. Plenty of parking available despite being busy. There are two buffet islands, one with main course and sides and some desert, the other with a salad bar and more desert options. There is also an ice cream machine that my wife swears tastes just like Chik-fil-a's. The food is almost all southern, and some of it got rotated out while we ate (the chicken and dumplings gave way to country fried steak and gravy). Fried Chicken, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, fried okra, corn, green beans, man n cheese -- the list goes on and on. By and large, the food was exceptional. The fried chicken was moist and the breading is flavorful, the mashed potatoes were good. Pulled pork was succulent and the BBQ sauce was great. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. Only downsides from my visit was that the corn bread was a tad dry and not sweat (that's a preference thing) and there was no gravy for the mashed potatoes. That being said the yeast rolls are great. The chicken fried steak got rotated in with some pepper gravy (a bit watery) but these were the only nitpicks I found with my visit. Overall the best southern food and best buffet near Huntsville. My waitress ('Granny') was hustling, she made sure the plates were cleared and the drinks stayed full. Everyone seemed to know her and she was able to be friendly with the locals while taking care of business. All of the employees I saw were busy, wiping down the buffet lines, bringing in heaps of food and just making it a great experience. The value was phenomenal -- $12.50 for adults and $7 for kids. I wish they served Coke products and lived next door then they'd be perfect. If you're reading about this place and you live in Hunstville, its worth the drive. If you're a local, its probably a staple and you already know. 5 stars, would recommend. Thanks!

This was Southern hospitality at its finest, wrapped in incredible food and genuine warmth from the moment our Forest Service and Alabama A&M team walked through the door. The owner and staff were extremely kind, welcoming, and hospitable to our group, treating us less like customers and more like honored guests. The owner personally sat with our team, walking us through the menu item by item, sharing stories, and offering recommendations on his favorite dishes. That personal touch set the tone for the whole lunch and made the meal feel both special and deeply personal. The food itself was soul-satisfying in every way. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned with a crispy exterior and juicy interior, the kind of dish that makes you pause after the first bite. The catfish was especially delicious as well, tender, flavorful, and cooked just right, embodying everything you hope for in classic country cooking. And the banana pudding was a standout, instantly transporting me to memories of dining in Savannah, with that rich, comforting, homemade taste you feel in your soul. From start to finish, everything about our visit to G's Country Kitchen was outstanding...the hospitality, the conversation, the food, and the feeling of being truly cared for. Many thanks to the owner and the entire staff for a great experience and a lunch that our Forest Service and Alabama A&M team will not soon forget.

It had typical American brunch/breakfast, but they also had a few twist to some of the item. Very tasty. This was a solid pick for brunch. It's an IG worthy place to be, and the food is solid which is a win to me. If I lived here, I could definitely see myself going back. Honestly, a very pleasant first time at this restaurant.

Service was friendly but a bit inexperienced. Our waitress wasn't sure about some menu details (such as whether the vegetables were cooked with meat or meat stock) and forgot one side order. The food itself was a mixed experience. The sides reminded me of cafeteria-style fare (similar to Piccadilly's). The macaroni and cheese tasted like it came from a box, with a liquid cheese sauce, and my meal arrived lukewarm. On the positive side, my husband really enjoyed his salmon croquettes, calling them "delicious." Overall, Walton's offers a pleasant, quiet atmosphere and friendly staff, but the food and service could use some polishing to match the beauty of the space.

We had the pulled chicken sandwich, noting the portion options (5 oz small and 8 oz large). The small was very generous and more than satisfying. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich basket with a side salad, and it was excellent. The pork was served hot (not just warm), clean, not fatty, and very moist. It had to be at least 75 degrees if not 80 in there and we passed many many empty tables and booths. (Hostess promised to turn air on. Did not. They did turn on air finally after 10-15 minutes, and many other complaints, and moved us when we asked.) Ordered 2 teas with lemon - rec'd no lemon (till asked again) and very little ice. Husband's glass left empty 5-10 minutes. Next, I was disappointed to be told I couldn't have the vegetarian Rueben sandwich (on the online menu but not on in-house restaurant menu tho it contains simple, in-house ingredients. Waiter just said no and didn't check with kitchen.) Husband ordered bone-in rib-eye steak - tasted charred on outside tho it was cooked correctly at medium on inside. Seasoning on it didn't cover up the char taste. I settled for a chicken salad (lettuce with pecans and grilled chicken pieces with honey mustard dressing) but the chicken wasn't tender, tasty or fresh tasting. Lastly, the whole place was disgusting with sticky tables, floors, etc. and restroom was so bad, husband nearly slipped. (Noticed they have a 91 health score - incredible. Did they pay them off?) We're great tippers for great service and food. Too bad. We wont be back - unless management changes. Until then, wouldn't eat here again for free.
