I saw a response of "oh no" and realized that part of the review may have gotten confusing. Since I cant edit the first, what I meant to say was Most of the other gyms were fitness oriented and didn't focus on technique. The other gyms also weren't as clean. 10th Planet drills technique, and works on implementing the technique. If your putting in the work you're going to get a great workout. 10 th planet is also extremely clean. the sauna is large, clean and has a TV and music which is better than any gym sauna ive ever been in. They sanitize the mats after every single class. They have a shower and two bathrooms so that gives members the ability to take care of themselves and facility. The coaches do a great job, ensuring that no matter the level of skill, you are getting the work in you need and they are trying to help you get better at the craft. read more

My grandsons attended a complimentary class, which is nice of the studio to offer. The young man at the desk was friendly/polite. Instructors seemed fine. The lead instructor spent a lot of time with both of my grandsons. Recommendations as a first timer (for what it is worth): * Instructors should all wear matching staff shirts/shorts with the studio's name on them. I felt what the lead instructor was wearing Wednesday night (11/12/25) was unacceptable to be working with children. My opinion is based on 32 years of teaching experience. My grandsons said they were "grossed out" over it. * Instructors should be more mindful regarding each set of children having sufficient space. The children were not using the entire mat, they were bunched up which creates a safety hazard/liability issue. * Pricing sheets should be provided, or at least listed on the website. I seen an ad on Instagram for a no contract offer for 50% of first month. I signed up but it wasn't made transparent that they have a 30 day cancellation policy. So basically if you don't want to pay for the 2nd month which is $250 then you have to cancel the same day that you sign up. I ended up paying 375 when I thought I was getting a deal. I tried canceling over a week before but they wouldn't let me. Good coaches and facilities but if you make business like that I find it very sleezy. I have been attending 10th Planet Covina for about 7 months now and I just love it there. I take Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu. When I was looking for a gym I visited many gyms from San Dimas, Glendora and Covina and when I sat in to observe a class at 10th Planet Covina I chatted with the gym owner and Jiu Jitsu coach Kuwy. This was one of the few gyms I visited that the head coach took the time to greet me and sit down to chat for a bit. He told me about what he strives for with his gym and I knew it was where I wanted to be. It feels very down to earth here, everyone is welcoming and so friendly. As a young woman I can say whole-heartedly say that I have never felt unsafe in this gym. All of the coaches are beyond awesome. They are always willing to help. I always enjoy Coach Chelsea's Muay Thai classes, she has a great eye for details that you can work on and she explains exactly what I need to adjust perfectly. She has never made me feel incapable of anything that we have gone over. Coach Oscar teaches Jiu Jitsu and he has helped me tremendously over these months. I have never, not even once, ever seen Oscar make anyone feel bad or less-than because they struggle with a technique. He is patient and professional all of the time. Oscar has always encouraged me and pushed me to get better. Coach Eve and Megan teach women's Jiu Jitsu classes on Sunday's the classes are so fun! I brought along my best friend who has zero martial arts experience and with Eve and Megan's instructions she was able to perfectly perform every technique! Imposible to cancel the membership they will not hear reasons and my son is paying for the last 4 months a full price membership and my grand son 6 yrs old can not attend the class at 4:45 due to weather and health concerns due to extremely cold and rain weather !!! Not recommended!!! Not at all !!! I wish they will understand but in the contrary they just say "hey you need to pay " regardless of any reasonable concern I'm very very disappointed!! I trained here for approximately two years and I'll give you my input. It's a great gym to learn no go jitsu and has some top level trainers here. Coach Danny is a great coach and taught the morning classes, which I mostly attended. The people who also train here are chill and willing to help you with the learning. The few issues I had were the lack of structure with the fundamentals. They also didn't keep track of progress or attendance, which made improvements difficult to keep track unless you were a constant regular. Also the bathrooms were also always out of order here, which was an annoyance at times. Overall, I'd recommend this gym if you're looking to get into no gi and competitions, as there is no other like it around the Covina area. read more

We initially came for a free trial and there was no pressure. The other kids were welcoming and helpful which is indicative of how they are trained. I've been coming here since last August. The atmosphere is very friendly and inviting. It has all types of practitioners from beginners, intermediate and advanced. Everyone treats everyone like a brother and sister (no egos). The best thing is the schedule. It's open 7 days of week with morning, evening and afternoons available. BEST FUCKING PLACE TO TRAIN AT IN COVINA FOR JUJITSU I was a super weenie to try jujitsu but my boyfriend has been coming here for almost 2 years now & everytime I came to watch him for in-house tournaments, everyone ALWAYS made me feel like home from the moment I stepped through those doors. I was even more intrigued watching my bf discipline himself, and grow his techniques. It made it that much easier for me to join. I also LA LA LOVE the curriculum here. It's legit a school for jitz. We take tests to pass onto level 2 which is dope. I feel like it's a really fast paced but coaches are always SUPER detail oriented so it makes it so worth it If you're thinking of joining just do it. Especially here. They definitely know their stuff and always make sure you are getting the technique down. Over the course of these 7 months, my self-discipline has sky rocketed; my focus and drive are part of my day to day routine. I joined for the propose of getting active and lose weight while picking up a new skill, ie Muay Thai and BJJ. 6 months in I think I've come to realize this type of training will be part of my life from now on! Took my son here for the first time and it was not a great experience. From the start the black out windows are a hazard. You can't see if anyone is coming in or coming out. Took my son for the kids class and when my son went in to open the door someone from the inside swung the door open and hit my son right in the face. He's had a purple eye since that day. My son was crying from the pain and no one was attentive to even check if my son was okay. The instructors didn't even acknowledge the fact that my son was crying. Obviously from the pain my son didn't want to participate so we chose to sit and observe the course. What I noticed was that some kids were slower than the others (which is common for a kids class), but the instructors would not wait for a child to finish doing the first instruction when they would move on. Child was left on his own to finish off what he was told while instructors focused on the kids who finished and moved on with further instructions. Walking in the man on the desk seemed like he did not want to be there. Full of negative energy right away. Not only that they expect you to pay over $100 for a half ass class. First and last time here. Worst experience would not recommend. I now see why they would spend so much money on ads. Advertisement is needed for a poor serviced place for people to be interested. read more

this review is long over due. i attended classes at 10th planet around oct 2018-april 2019. during that time there i was injured 2x once for my knee & another for my shoulder. both were pretty bad. A partner tried an IMANARI ROLL on me during live roll's we were both relatively new. needless to say he did it wrong & popped my knee out. i couldn't walk for a week or 2 without the assistance of crutches & had to rehab. once i returned to normal functions i started taking private lessons from vinny, the muay thai coach. once i was healed up coach kuwy insisted i re enroll & give it another try. so i did, i wanted to compete & learn. unfortunately i was injured again by another white belt, this time during an arm bar. he also popped it our of place & its never been the same. i consoled with kuwy afterwards & he basically told me that im not capable of being a marital artist because im prone to injury and i should look else where. He made me feel bad and unworthy. well during those privates with vinny i found a love for muay thai & i enrolled at sityodtong & even competed for them doing the PKB'S i have been there ever since injury free. a few bumps & bruises of course but nothing major like i experienced at 10th planet. i wouldn't recommend this location to any one. i think during that time white belts were wild no one told them otherwise & Kuwy's comments were harsh. when i meet people and we discuss martial art's i tell them to stay away from 10th planet covina. read more

As a female in a "mans" sport it can be hard to find coaches that respect you and actually take the time to help you. Although I have wrestled before BJJ is new to me and like anything, it can be a little scary and intimidating to try something new. However, I have quickly found a home at 10P and they have not only helped me transition pretty easily but everyone has been so motivating. The coaches at 10P Covina are amazing, they are so beyond patient and so encouraging. So thankful for 10P and Coach Kuwy. I would highly recommend trying 10P. read more

Looking for a good place to train can be pretty tough when you're on the road but fortunately for me, this gem is just down the street from where I'm staying at. Everybody there is very cool and the coaches (kuwy, Rich, Vinny) are very knowledgeable and they instruct in a way that's understandable, which is essential for beginners. I started coming here 3 weeks ago. My first goal was to drop 30 pounds and when I did I signed up here to set my second goal. Not to only lose more weight but increase stamina and core strength. My nephew comes to the kids class and they are real hands on with techniques but coach Richard makes it fun to do drills and learn. Throughout my experience at 10th Planet Covina, I have been impressed with all of the coaches. They have an exceptional work ethic and are genuinely passionate about what they do. This is definitely an awesome place to workout and learn jujitsu. Whether it's an in-depth wrestling based seminar or an in-gym tournament, there's never a dull moment here. Coach Kuwy and Coach Richard are a very creative and mindful. They are going to push you to be better every time you step on the mat. In my case it was two months after a shoulder surgery, both the coaches and students worked with me, and helped me progress mentally and physically.
