I just finished filing my taxes with Maria and I am astonished on what she said to me during this process. I have come here one time before and she was nice and it was quick but today was just an awful experience. She asked me how I have been since I last came here and I said I am doing great, I actually just recently purchased a home, thinking it was important information to mention as well while filing my taxes, I am currently in my 20's. She started flipping through papers and said WOW they ACTUALLY let you take out a loan with your income!? I said yes they did.. she then responded with where, in a treehouse!?? She started laughing. (At this point I wanted to get up and leave, I felt uncomfortable ) I was so appalled and shocked that someone I thought I can trust with this information I share with about me and my taxes and hoping for a positive and uplifting response, she had so many negative things to say to me, I FELT ATTACKED She then started to comment on the location of where I am purchasing my home and said you will be so lost, I responded with No, I will be fine I can adjust wherever I go. She then said your a go getter, and an independent woman. This does not give her any excuse on how she spoke to me. I felt like she was against me instead of being with me and on my side. I thought coming back here would be fast an easy but after this visit I will not be coming back here. This is not how ANY customer should be treated. She made me feel very low as a person and NOONE should feel this way. Maybe she is envious of my accomplishments at a very young age, either way this is not how anyone should be treated. Everyone is trying to survive in this world we liveand so am I. This tax place wanted me to meet up late night at 11pm to get a refund and return a $0.10 cent red folder. I told them I will throw folder away mail me my refund I will not go back to that place. I did recieve a refund and this is how it came in the mail. I will say the service is my worst nightmare. I told Maria that I was waiting for second part of my mortgage on the day I saw her. It didn't come the day I had my initial appointment with her. She told me that she would start with all of the information that I had, since I had only one missing information. Then she would finish everything once I received the paperwork- which I dropped it the next day. She filed my tax days after. However, I realized some thing wasn't right. Then I found out my tax were filled with only the mortgage that I dropped the next day. She didn't file the other part of the mortgage - the one that I gave during the initial meeting. She had replaced my mortgage with the newest one rather than adding them together. I asked why I only had only half of my mortgage on my tax. She told me that she lost the first portion of the mortgage. And I should requested the new one. She promised she would take the full responsibility with the mistake. She was going to file an amendment which could only be done one month after the tax were filed. Over one month later despite the number of calls and email I didn't get any response on my tax amend follow up. I decided to stop by. She told me that I didn't signed the paper. Therefore, the adjustment didn't get filed. I told her about the follow up phone calls and emails that didn't get respond. She denied that if she ever got any of the phone calls or emails from me. Also she said I should be getting my refund from the amendment in 4 weeks. Today, it had been more than 8 weeks. I still had not received my money. I stopped by to follow up to make sure it was filled (since she would never say anything unless I followed up). She gave me very rude response and told me I should be more patient in waiting for my money. I told her that I just wanted to follow up since she won't tell me anything until I asked. If this is kind of nightmare service you are looking. You are in the right place. Update: I received the following text massage after I posted this review. "Since you wrote all those lies on Yelp I am going to retract the courtesy amendment I was doing for you and you can pay someone else to do your amendment." Furthermore, I just checked with IRS website. They couldn't find my amend. So either, it never been filed or Maria has retract it. read more

Maria is super fast and straight to the point! Unlike other tax preparers, she can get you in and out the door in an hour or less. Also she accepts walk-ins, instead of having to book apts with other tax preparers and having to wait. She also knows her stuff and seems knowledgeable about any questions we had. The best thing about finding good business is trough referrals. I came her referred by a coworker and I have been coming here for the last 3-4 years since! My whole family came with too. I've been going to Maria for about 3-4 years now, but my parents have been clients longer. This business is located conveniently next to Newpark Mall, so if you have to kill some time (for example, it is the last day of tax season so I had to come back), you can go there or to McDonald's next door. Private lot which is far from the mall itself so you don't have to compete for parking. Once inside, you're welcomed by a tea/coffee bar, brownies bites and madeleines, and a friendly staff! There's ample amount of seats to wait as well as a tv (in case you need to pass the time there). My previous tax preparer has retired and moved to other state; I was looking for someone to help us with filing our taxes. We did some search using Yelp. I was looking for highest satisfactory rating and five stars. I found Maria from 1040 tax, so we made a call and appointment on the same day. Their office was working until late on Sunday which was excellent for us, because we couldn't do it on weekdays. We brought our tax documents; the location was conveniently located by the mall, and near 880 freeway. The office was decorated with smiles :) Staff were friendly, smiley and offering complementary coffee, tea, cookies and soda; which was nice to have a drink and watch TV, while waiting. We didn't waited much, filled up the form with information and answer the questions... The process was pretty quick. We are very satisfied with their service, Maria has a very nice and personable personality, she has 32 years of experience. This was my fist time filling my taxes on my own and decided to look up a place on yelp for help. First off, Im a student and a full time employee living on my own so looking for an affordable place to do my taxes was very important and out of everywhere I ask this was the cheapest one. The office is small but cute and it has a very positive vibe to it, pretty little selfie station with tea and coffee to relax while you wait your turn. I had Maria as my tax person and she was very fast and efficient as well as very kind and helpful. She totally helped me to get more taxes by suggesting things I could look up in my school paperwork to get more tax return and it totally worked. I have been calling them a few times and left voicemails to follow up on my 2017 tax returns, since the tax return was not filed properly by them. But I have not received any call back from them after several voicemails. Every time I call nobody answers the call. I wonder if the business is shut down. Update: Interesting enough...finally I heard back from Maria. She threatened me on the phone that if I do not remove my review, she is not going to look into the issue. She was so aggressive and kept saying they didn't receive any call/voicemail. Why would I lie about it? Since I have never heard back from IRS about my 2017 tax return, I know there must be something wrong with the tax return that Maria helped put together. All I want is to have it fixed. Since I have not heard from them for so long, I have found another tax service and they have confirmed that my tax was not filed. Now I know Maria is definitely not going to help me.
