As for changing the scope of the project, the recommended paint did not perform as described by Intown. We could not see our way clear to pay an additional $1,400 on a $14,000 job. We used to be one of those 1,400 satisfied customers. Sorry we could not work this out.

I received a response the next morning, a phone call from Russ Melton. He assured me a member of the team would arrive soon with an estimate and even invited me to call him personally if I didn't hear from the team soon. There was no need, I received an email and a call later that day. Russ showed up the next day and provided an estimate for the project. While I had him there, I showed him some other issues with the house that had been on my "to-fix list" and he provided an estimate for those projects as well. The cost was exactly what I expected, and I gave him the go ahead to schedule workers ASAP. They came within a few days, even though it was all happening around the Thanksgiving holiday. Jose and another roofer (sorry, I didn't catch his name) showed up early for the appointment but waited out front until the appointed time. They were courteous, kind (even to my very excited dog), and had the problem fixed in no time. They even installed additional flashing to the second skylight (which hadn't yet started leaking) just as a precaution, free of charge. The office staff were just as kind and professional as the roofers. I worked with Deb Burris who helped me with billing and scheduling. The interface for billing was simple, the contracts and estimates were clear and easy to understand, and she was very knowledgeable and responsive over texts, emails and calls. I will certainly be calling them again soon for those other household projects. I recommend using them if you have any home improvement or repair needs.

They were not the least expensive bid we had but they came recommended. However, our experience was horrendous. When we first met the contractor, we liked him a lot. We showed him the roof work and the soffit and fascia that needed to be fixed. He said no problem and that would just require a "little more wood". We received 3 quotes and they were the highest of all 3 but again they came recommended and said they could do the interior work as well. The other 2 quotes (cheaper than Arrack) included replacing/repairing the fascia/soffit and gutters. We assumed the Arrack bid did as well. When the roof was completed, the fascia/soffit and gutters were not fixed. When asked, we were told that it was not included in the bid even though we specifically talked about it. Instead, they present me with a quote to complete that work which was another $3,000. Again, my other lower bids included this work. Why would I pay over $9,700 for a roof that should have cost about $8,000. I had 2 other roofs replaced in the last year on other properties (larger than this one) that cost just over $8,000. We ended up using another contractor to do the fascia/soffit for about $1,600 and he couldn't believe how much we then ended up paying for just a roof. Then came the inside work which they started before we completed the issue with the fascia/soffit. The bulk construction seemed to go just fine. However, their finish work is a disaster. Our shower head was below the top of my head and I am only 5'9". In addition, the bull nose tile at the point where the pipe came out of the wall was V cut to accommodate the pipe and looked awful. The tile floor has a severe slope that is not needed for such a small shower and the sliding glass door is not even put on straight and opens/closes at an angle. We have been trying to work with them to get these issues fixed but it has not been nearly 5 months and we are still not finished. They came back out to raise the shower head and raised the tile on the wall. However when they did this, they used a different color grout and now I have 2 different grout colors in my "brand new shower". And the shower door is still angled. They also installed a column as a support for a wall that was removed. The finish work on this was awful as well. Drywall was crooked and angled in at the top because they didn't put the corner piece all the way to the ceiling. They came back out to fix this and it looks just as bad but not with 1x6 going floor to ceiling with butt joints instead of miter joints. The work was under par and their servicing since their "completion" is absolutely atrocious. We have tried for months to get this rectified yet we are still here waiting. They "fit" us in between other jobs if they come out at all. As a business I would expect to fully finish a job before putting newer jobs as a higher priority. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. UPDATE: We met with the contractor 2 months ago and laid out our issues with the interior completion including the different grouts used in the shower. They said they would fix and would be in touch to schedule. Well, we are 2 months later and the work has still not been completed. It has been over a month since we last even heard from them. It is becoming a bad joke at this point.

We had DB Atlanta remodel our master bath, a $50K plus job. At first it went great. Appearance wise…read morethey did a very good job. The remodel included a heated floor system, that all documentation said was to be connected to 120 volt circuit. Unfortunately, their electrical team installed it on a 220 volt circuit. We didn't find this out until a few years later when the thermostat failed, and a manufacturers rep diagnosed the problem. Fortunately only the thermostat failed although according to the manufacturer the floor elements could have also failed do to the over voltage situation. When DB Atlanta was first notified they indicated they would be willing to work with us to correct the problem, but eventually refused to return our phone calls, refused to answer a complaint filed with the BBB, and refused to respond to a letter from our attorney. We have more projects in future but would never again use DB Atlanta, nor could we recommend them.

Capital…read moreDevelopment, LLC of Acworth, GA and its principal Kevin Nguyen are unreliable, unprofessional, untruthful and contrary to two great reviews on Thumbtack, (one from Tyler who I'm pretty sure is an employee/partner) does not appear to know a thing about construction. They are EXTREMELY disrespectful of property. For example, they left the property unsecured on multiple occasions; i.e., doors unlocked and on one occasion, they actually left the key in the door. Upon completing the project, we discovered that they poured waste concrete all over our driveway and lawn, which has now hardened into mounds! On several occasions, we pointed out to Kevin Nguyen that items had been removed from the house and he 'promised' to have them returned/replaced. Never happened! Kevin Nguyen has refused to work with us on the punch list we developed when we saw the job coming to a halt. Items on the list that he considered "complete" could have been done by a 12-year-old! Brand new flooring has purple paint or some other substance ingrained into the flooring that we will never be able to remove! Subsequently, after paying this contractor $33K+, I now have to hire various workmen (plumber, brickwork, handyman, etc.) to finish the project. Capital Development, LLC and Kevin Nguyen have also refused to provide paperwork for 'new' HVAC, sump pump and other electrical and mechanical items that should be in the owner's possession. This has been the worst building/reno experience and that's saying something considering that I've done two major renos (in New York City!) and had a new house built (in a foreign country!). I have NEVER experienced this level of incompetence and shoddy workmanship! Please learn from my bad experience. I could not recommend Kevin Nguyen or anyone associated with Capital Development LLC, build a birdhouse! Photos of some of the 'finished' items below. Brickwork: This is a the 'finished' product after I complained about the workmanship. Also, they never replaced the brick behind the electrical box! Plumbing: unfinished holes everywhere. Note the space between the toilet and the tub! Capital Development moved the washer/dryer and relocated to another area and left it looking like this. Also, hot & cold water lines are reversed in laundry. Bathroom mirror: evidently was 'glued' on and has since slipped taking the paint with it!
