But as I drove the car, there was a vibration. They argued with me and wouldn't stand by their work. I took it to another body shop. They pointed out that Calliber used used parts, glued some parts and failed to paint it properly. Now my car is a $130,000 X6 M50. Then he took it to the BMW dealer who said the wheel was damaged, the suspension was bent, the rack and pinion was damaged. Bottom line, Calliber is an awful place to take your car. Cost to fix their mistakes and oversights...over $25,000!!! Compared to the $4,000 they charged insurance to fix my car. I bet this ordeal causes my insurance to be cancelled.

I needed body work on it after my daughter drove it and sideswiped a pole, breaking off the driver's side door handle so that. The driver door could not be opened at all. But because of the car and the way it's used, I just wanted the function restored to the door. It was not worth spending to have the car returned to "like new" with all the dent and paint work and the many of additional thousand dollars that required. I just wanted to pay out of pocket for the functional repair. Enter Mike and The Paintin Place. By the time, by the time I got to Mike, I had already taken the the car to a couple of different body shops (On that, on that street in Westlake Village where there's like six or seven body shops). Those other two shops didn't want anything to do with my request for just a less expensive functional repair. They wanted to sell me the whole up to $10K body work package that would restore the paint and finish to "as new", which is ridiculous to even contemplate spending that much on an older car for the way this car is being used. So those shops didn't really want to help me. They just wanted to sell me something. Then I went to Mike and he said to me, in so many words, "Look, I want to help you here. I understand where you're coming from with this older car, and if I can make money doing the functional repair, and it helps you, and it saves you a bunch of money on repairs that you don't want, let's just do that." He talked about basing his business on building long-term relationships with customers, and then he followed up words with actions: he did exactly what he said he was going to do and restored that front driver door to working function for under $1,000. Because of that experience I feel like I will always go to The Paintin Place first for any car, for any level of body shop work, whether it's out of pocket or putting in a full insurance claim. Mike works to earn trust with his customers, and that's the #1 takeaway from this review.
