This place is HUGE and overwhelming. Don't come here without a plan and idea of what you need. Our contractor sent us here with specific dimensions and instructions for what type of counter top we needed. We were helped immediately and walked up and down the counter top isle being explained options and pricing. He was patient and kind and not a pushy sales person. Pretty good supply store Ordered granite countertop for my kitchen, including paying for installation. They have a good selection of granite stone, with lots of patterns to choose from. The price is also pretty good, compared to Home Depot etc. Have been using the granite for a few months, quality is pretty good. The granite quality has been holding up, nothing un-expected. The staff at the store is nice. They are very helpful, and helped explain the quote for every line item in detail. The only downside is the installation contractors who work there are pretty young, and not great at service. The installation contractors cut a lot of corners to try to do a quick job and leave as fast as possible. They leave behind a lot of visible cracks, chips etc. After installing granite, the stone blocked the water faucet from opening. In the end, the storeowner lady drove over and gave us a new water faucet. So yes, the store staff are very nice. They care about customers I recommend if you go here, buy their granite, but find your own contractor. That will be the best combination Overall, a great granite store! read more

Great quality for a great price! The guys here were so helpful. First picked a piece out and measured it. But for some reason it was switch to match a color that I liked. When my contractor was about to start he noticed that the size was slightly off and you know when it comes to measurements especially for the countertops it has to be exact. I've seen some of the reviews from folks who are used to specialty cabinet shops, this is a building supply with thousands of selections in stock now with the caveat that you need to be more aware of the whole process. Fanny has helped me with thousands of kitchens and bathrooms over the 10+ years that our company has done business with them. A phone call is all it takes to go over the infrequent issues that may arise. I would have to say after the several thousand transactions I have done, the eight or nine times I've had to call because of an error has been handled quickly and satisfactorily. And that's to say nothing of the 20 cases I've had to call because of an error on my part that Fanny has handled these gracefully and quickly as well. We have used pretty much all of their products and would recommend everything they have to offer. I had arental that I had put kitchen cabinets in and after 10 years, I was surprised to find that I only needed to clean the cabinets not to completely replace or rebuild them! The cabinets are 100% wood with no particleboard! They hold up well and are very moderately priced for what you get. And as I say after thousands of transactions, I would buy them every day of the week. read more

Really bad costumer service, the lady in the front desk were kinda rude to us. We showed them our measurements, but she was going off on about how she don't understand the measurements. Over all I came here because of some good reviews ,but nothing special. The price is same as any other places like IKEA, and Home Depot. Bought kitchen cabinets, granite, shower pan and shower stone here. DO NOT BUY SHOWER ENCLOSURE STONE FROM HERE. It is a cheap stone with enamel paint/ epoxy paint to replicate real stone. The paint started cracking and peeling 2-3 months into install. Went there and they basically told me I am out of luck and you get what you pay for. I went 2 times to complain. Remodeled my entire house and it looked beautiful until around 6 weeks and you started to see tracking in the shower walls, then about 2 months in started peeling. I am not 2 years later and the entire thing is a mess and needs to be torn out because it is no longer water safe and going to leak. I am not out $4,000 for the installation. Cabinets the soft close on half of the cabinets failed within the first year and the lazy Susan corner cabinet door hinges fell apart in about 14 months. The granite is not the best but you get what you pay for. read more

Wifey and I stopped here on a neighbors recommendation. Prices are fair and they are super nice and patient. They kinda flipped/flopped on install prices so beware. Also, they only have about a dozen different slabs to choose from, so this place could work out for you if you're not picky. Located near SacState. FYI - If you're island is bigger than 52" you're kinda stuck and would have to get 2 slabs with a seam. Ours is 86.5 x 56" and that's the pickle we're in. read more

Going through my very first remodel, this was a learning experience. Couple of things I've learned is that you pretty much have to babysit the contractors and spell out exactly what your expectations are, even if you don't know what it is. Let me start off by saying that this place is amazing! They have exceeded my expectation, not only by being 25% of the cost of their competitors, not only by being 4x faster than any other contractor out there, but by having the vision, the communication, the attention to detail and goal of exceeding your expectations on every aspect of whatever the project you're looking to tackle. Some of the items you might be looking for they might not have, however, they compensate and offset that by still being able to work with you, using your materials, following your vision and guidance, to make sure that all of your ideas and goals come to fruition. Putting a lot of my eggs into a wrong, less competent basket has allowed me to find a company that would be able to make sure that I'm able to meet all of my deadlines, to keep the wheels spinning. I can't say enough good things about this company as there's really no down side and they're outstanding to work with. They value communication, time and money as much as any successful business operation. Being a business owner as well, I can say that they share the values that you would in your household. If I could give zero stars I definitely would. After a devastating fire that destroyed my home, I'm at that stage to start choosing cabinets, counter tops etc. I live in the Bay Area so I have been corresponding via email with 101 Building Supply on Folsom Blvd. My interior designer & I explained to the rep exactly what we were looking for.... custom cabinets with a particular type of wood. He sent photos but it's hard to make a decision looking at photos. He suggested I come up to the showroom. So I made the 1 1/4 hour drive up to their showroom. The establishment is in a large warehouse. I went to the entrance and was looking for someone to assist me. A young gentleman was at the front entrance. He didn't even say hello, can I help you. He just pointed to the front desk. Strike one! So I proceed to the front desk and was greeted by a woman who must have come from the same customer service charm school as the young man at the entrance. Not even a "Hello" or "how can I help you". Just a blank stare. No smile. Boy did I feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I work in a customer service occupation and have had some stressful days but always made each client welcomed. So I asked for help looking for a high grade wood and needed custom cabinets made. Her response was so curt. "We don't have that here and we don't make custom cabinets. Only prefabricated cabinets". I told her I was told to come to the showroom and pick a cabinet out and set things up. She replied "We don't do that". I was so upset since I made it clear what I needed and was mislead that they provided this type of wood and custom cabinets. And what made it worse is I wasted my time driving all the way to Sacramento for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! Strike Two!!! So I emailed the representative I was corresponding with to let him what happened and how upset I was for being misled. He was always good at responding promptly but this time absolutely no response. No apologies. I looked back at my emails seeing if I could have not been clear of what I needed, but it was all spelled out. STRIKE THREE....YOU'RE OOOOOUUUUUUT!!! Please don't waste your time here and no need to feel unwelcome. There are many companies dying to do business during this Covid times. So my search begins again!!!! read more

I used them for kitchen counter tops in my last house and they were okay. Prices are reasonable. About 2 months ago I went back and ordered a few things for fabrication and they were very helpful. I sent my clients who live an hour away to pick their slab, and I was told they were a little behind due to COVID 19, but it would be 2 weeks for them to process and complete the order. I called on week 3, and was told it wasn't done. I called week 4 and was told they didn't know, then called again and they said it would be done the following week. Then I received a text on that Friday that fabrication would happen Monday and I could pick up the order on Tuesday. On Monday late afternoon I received a text that they'd canceled my order because of COVID-19 and offered a refund. I get that resources may be limited, I really do. But having been in contact with them for weeks, and then being told THE DAY the order was to be completed that it was canceled, made me very angry. If you can't complete an order, don't make your clients wait a month to tell them. Now my job is delayed, my clients aren't happy, and I have to find another store. Overall I am not pleased with their service and lack of consideration. They could have gotten a lot of business from us, but it seems they are not interested in that. They get 3 stars because my countertops a couple years ago were decent, and I like the ladies at the front desk. read more

This is a challenging review. We bought a house that had recently been flipped and the flippers installed the absolute minimum cabinetry in the kitchen (no pantry cabinets and no upper cabinets.) So we found out where they purchased the cabinets and countertops. We added uppers, a pantry and an additional section of lower cabinets with a counter top and bar sink. The people at the store are helpful and nice, however are not native English speakers and I found them incredibly difficult to understand. I'm not an English-only imperialist and I've lived in Sacramento for 20 years and appreciate its diversity. It is with very mixed feelings that I even bring this up. This is one of the few times that a language barrier has caused a problem with customer service. It's fine if you're there in person, I found, but talking on the phone seriously challenged and frustrated me. While the cost of the countertop was reasonable, for them to install is a minimum charge of $600. When the installers came, it was like Jekyll and Hyde. One guy was great, the other, not so much. I asked them to keep the door closed to prevent our pets from getting out, and one complied and the other didn't- hence I spent time trying to get my indoor-only cat back in the house. They cut the quartz countertop in the driveway, with the kitchen door open so that we got a nice unhealthy lung full of quartz dust (no warning, no discussion.) they wanted me to sign a piece of paper saying that I had inspected all the components they brought (countertop, sink, faucet) with out showing them to me first. I asked them to show me everything before I signed and they thought I was being funny. In the end they got the countertop in and I have no complaints about how it looks. And I can chalk it all up to typical contractor weirdness and inability to communicate. That doesn't mean I'd go back for more of the same, however. One last note - they left slurry from the wet saw all over my driveway and splashed all over my house and fence. Additionally, they did nothing to protect the slurry from going into the storm drain, which is really shitty, sloppy practice that damages public infrastructure (infrastructure that our taxes pay to maintain and repair), messes up local streams and rivers and harms wildlife. Absolutely unforgivable. read more

We had the contractors install granite countertops and a new sink at my mother's house. They did it all in 1 day. They did an amazing and professional job. My mom is so happy, and my picky brother even said they did an excellent job. The only issue is they cracked two of our kitchen tiles (we think they may have I inadvertently slammed a heavy tool onto the floors), which means we need to change them now and hunt for the same ones or replace all the tile. My mom didn't want me to complain about the workers, though, as it was an accident. So, word of advise is to tell them to be extra careful. As far as my experience with the store, the moment I entered their store and began working with Ming on the process, they were professional, patient and listened to everything we said. They checked in with us several times to make sure they were getting things right, which I appreciate. That's how all contractors should be! Cost-wise, they were in line with others, a little higher than the discount stores (who's customer service sucked) but I went with 101 purely based on their customer service and reasonable prices. We plan to do bathroom renovations and my other family (I have 9 aunts and uncles and almost 60 cousins in the area!) plan to as well, an we will certainly be using 101 Building Supply and recommending them to family, friends and neighbors! read more

Stopped in today because a friend recommended we look at cabinets here. Walked in and 3 people behind the counter looked at us with blank faces. Not one smile, hello or anything. Fine, we knew what we wanted to see, which was to inspect cabinet construction. What we saw was the following: Doors and drawers maligned in their frames, with no center styles between doors, so there was a gap. No corner bracing (not even plastic, just none). No reinforcing stiles in the frame. No dovetail corners. Most cabinets doors did not have soft close hinges, and the one cabinet that did...it lurched every inch about 4 inches from close like it was having a seizure. I am sure after some time it will wear out from the jerking motion. Cabinets appear to be solid plywood, so they do have the going for them. If you are looking for something quality, I suggest you stay away. If you just want to throw something in place that will work and look OK on the face, this may fit the bill, at least for the near future, however, we did not even look at prices. I have a sneaky suspicion they are buying RTA (ready to assemble) cabinets and doing it themselves. Maybe not...but... read more

Ordered an island quartz countertop. After it had been installed I noticed a large thin circle blemish in the counter. My contractor contacted 101 and was told they were out of stock but would have more in after the first of the year and there would be no charge. Now they have them in stock but will only give a 25% discount. Totally unwilling to even come look at the counter. I sent pictures of the countertop and they are still not willing to replace it. Instead they gave me the white not the chrome hood cap I paid for. Make sure to read the invoice and know their policy. You basically have no Rights once you pay. They don't have a huge number of choices like some large granite distributors, but if you like the granite they have, it is dirt cheap. They even carry popular sizes of prefinished vanity tops with sink cutout for insanely low prices. Wish my bathroom vanity was a "normal" size but it is still way cheaper to buy from them than from any other source I've seen, and I've been to A LOT of stores. They fabricated and installed my kitchen and giant island for under 2k which is 1/2 the estimate from lowes for the granite ONLY. They did a great job with the finishing work and completed it all, including an undermount sink installation in 2 hours. If you are looking for granite, check this place before you buy any place else. It may save you $1000s. read more

My husband and I had been looking for weeks and weeks. We went to at least 10 showrooms and just weren't set on a stone, color or installer. After almost putting the job on pause, we went to 101 Building supply again. There, we decided on a stone and color. We had also found a tentative installer, but when we went to check out, they asked if we had an installer. My husband, in a joking manner said "unless you can do it". (We didnt know they did that). After discussing, we thought it simpler to use their installers and we weren't disappointed. They worked in harmony until the job was complete, making sure attention to detail was accomplished throughout. We are very pleased! My parents are redoing their kitchen and my mom and I came here to look at granite. Jon was so helpful and gave great suggestions. My mom ended up agreeing with me and purchasing the granite I had picked (go me!) They had exactly the sizes she needed, and it was picked up and delivered the next day. They have a nice selection and lots of different granite and quartz to choose from. My mom also found the exact sink she was looking for. I stopped by because I wanted to see if they had tile in stock, and we needed a new cast iron sink. All they had, largely, was granite tops, and I didn't see any cast iron sinks, but just to make sure I hadn't missed any, I approached the woman sitting nearest to the entrance. She didn't look up when I said "Excuse me, but do you have any cast iron sinks?" and then she snapped, "No, we DON'T have any cast iron sinks!" I just looked at her and left. OK, it was a hot day, it's an ugly place to work, and maybe her boss is a jerk, but that's not the customer's fault--never take out your bad mood on a customer because it can result in bad reviews online and by word of mouth. At least I know this place doesn't have what I was looking for and their customer service needs a lot of upgrading. I don't recommend 101 to anyone. read more

I needed to find a top for a very small bathroom vanity. It was pouring down rain that day, but the employees were very patient and helpful. The prices are great here and fabrication was very fast. They had an employee call in sick but they were very prompt with communication and letting me know what was going on. Still received my pieces in less than a week. My contractor installed them and they look fantastic. Would definitely use them again. read more
