Great quality for a great price! The guys here were so helpful. First picked a piece out and measured it. But for some reason it was switch to match a color that I liked. When my contractor was about to start he noticed that the size was slightly off and you know when it comes to measurements especially for the countertops it has to be exact. So I met him back at the store and they exchanged no problem.

I've seen some of the reviews from folks who are used to specialty cabinet shops, this is a building supply with thousands of selections in stock now with the caveat that you need to be more aware of the whole process. Fanny has helped me with thousands of kitchens and bathrooms over the 10+ years that our company has done business with them. A phone call is all it takes to go over the infrequent issues that may arise. I would have to say after the several thousand transactions I have done, the eight or nine times I've had to call because of an error has been handled quickly and satisfactorily. And that's to say nothing of the 20 cases I've had to call because of an error on my part that Fanny has handled these gracefully and quickly as well. We have used pretty much all of their products and would recommend everything they have to offer. I had arental that I had put kitchen cabinets in and after 10 years, I was surprised to find that I only needed to clean the cabinets not to completely replace or rebuild them! The cabinets are 100% wood with no particleboard! They hold up well and are very moderately priced for what you get. And as I say after thousands of transactions, I would buy them every day of the week.

Updating to add completed pictures of our house. Also added my moms small kitchen remodel we did using new cabinets, flooring and counter all from 101 building supply.

    Cracks starting

Bought kitchen cabinets, granite, shower pan and shower stone here. DO NOT BUY SHOWER ENCLOSURE STONE FROM HERE. It is a cheap stone with enamel paint/ epoxy paint to replicate real stone. The paint started cracking and peeling 2-3 months into install. Went there and they basically told me I am out of luck and you get what you pay for. I went 2 times to complain. Remodeled my entire house and it looked beautiful until around 6 weeks and you started to see tracking in the shower walls, then about 2 months in started peeling. I am not 2 years later and the entire thing is a mess and needs to be torn out because it is no longer water safe and going to leak. I am not out $4,000 for the installation. Cabinets the soft close on half of the cabinets failed within the first year and the lazy Susan corner cabinet door hinges fell apart in about 14 months. The granite is not the best but you get what you pay for.

Wifey and I stopped here on a neighbors recommendation. Prices are fair and they are super nice and patient. They kinda flipped/flopped on install prices so beware. Also, they only have about a dozen different slabs to choose from, so this place could work out for you if you're not picky. Located near SacState. FYI - If you're island is bigger than 52" you're kinda stuck and would have to get 2 slabs with a seam. Ours is 86.5 x 56" and that's the pickle we're in.

    Various shades of white.

All of your hopes and dreams die when you do business with this company. The white cabinets are various shades, obviously from different paint batches and in some narcissistic way they make you feel as if it's your fault for allowing them to be installed. The communication is subpar and they seem unwilling to accept fault. They aren't worthy of a star.

Solid work! The before and the after

Going through my very first remodel, this was a learning experience. Couple of things I've learned is that you pretty much have to babysit the contractors and spell out exactly what your expectations are, even if you don't know what it is. Let me start off by saying that this place is amazing! They have exceeded my expectation, not only by being 25% of the cost of their competitors, not only by being 4x faster than any other contractor out there, but by having the vision, the communication, the attention to detail and goal of exceeding your expectations on every aspect of whatever the project you're looking to tackle. Some of the items you might be looking for they might not have, however, they compensate and offset that by still being able to work with you, using your materials, following your vision and guidance, to make sure that all of your ideas and goals come to fruition. Putting a lot of my eggs into a wrong, less competent basket has allowed me to find a company that would be able to make sure that I'm able to meet all of my deadlines, to keep the wheels spinning. I can't say enough good things about this company as there's really no down side and they're outstanding to work with. They value communication, time and money as much as any successful business operation. Being a business owner as well, I can say that they share the values that you would in your household. I'd say let them throw their hat in your rink and you won't be disappointed!!!!

I had a very good experience with the staff at 101 Building Supply on Folsom Blvd. As I looked around and had a question I went to the desk and got an answer. Cai installed my kitchen backsplash and did an excellent job. He worked very hard and meticulously to cut a one piece corner window shelf for me. What a great fabricator and asset to the business.

We had the contractors install granite countertops and a new sink at my mother's house. They did it all in 1 day. They did an amazing and professional job. My mom is so happy, and my picky brother even said they did an excellent job. The only issue is they cracked two of our kitchen tiles (we think they may have I inadvertently slammed a heavy tool onto the floors), which means we need to change them now and hunt for the same ones or replace all the tile. My mom didn't want me to complain about the workers, though, as it was an accident. So, word of advise is to tell them to be extra careful. As far as my experience with the store, the moment I entered their store and began working with Ming on the process, they were professional, patient and listened to everything we said. They checked in with us several times to make sure they were getting things right, which I appreciate. That's how all contractors should be! Cost-wise, they were in line with others, a little higher than the discount stores (who's customer service sucked) but I went with 101 purely based on their customer service and reasonable prices. We plan to do bathroom renovations and my other family (I have 9 aunts and uncles and almost 60 cousins in the area!) plan to as well, an we will certainly be using 101 Building Supply and recommending them to family, friends and neighbors!

East Sacramento- that closed, now it's a plant store. Who needs a hammer when you can have a succulent? Elk Grove: $$$, plus being asked if I need help multiple times is scary (five times in five minutes, rule of thumb). Newbert's: yes, this was the best but it's been closed for decades and is probably a cannabis dispensary now. Archie's: also closed. Don't get me started. Why: Selection: This store has pretty damn much anything you could need, with limits. Kitchen, hardware, tools, electrical, garden, paint, nuts, bolts, chemicals. It's not a warehouse, it's a STORE. So calm down if you don't have every option, you're going to get in the ballpark. This fall I found a great manure fork here (no I don't live in Iowa but it's a great garden tool and mine got "lost" in my last move). PS, the big orange didn't even have one. Price: I was pricing Weber bbqs this summer and the units here were 10% less than pocket ace or Elk Grove. That got my attention. I recently got a great shovel for $16.99 on sale. Yes, a sale. You will have a range of options and usually there is a cheap(Er) option than at other stores, and better made. Recently I was pricing shovels at Home Depot and their cheaply made unforged (but costly) shovels couldn't match the shovel I bought at Hollywood. Help: someone can help you if you ask but you can browse without feeling like you are being stalked. Oddities: my last time here while at check out a customer came in cradling a duck and said out loud "I have a duck that needs repair." No one was fazed. The duck, alas, was a decoy but quite convincing. Need I say more?

The owners are helpful if you have questions about a home improvement or repair issues and don't know how to go about trying a solution to the problem, or how to use a tool, or even what something you're looking for is because you've never heard of it, let alone seen one, LOL. I haven't come in for those yet, but sometimes I'd find an answer on Google, but the real-life application and execution of that fix to the problem doesn't work out very well, and I'm stuck. This is where Greenhaven Hardware as a smaller, mom-and-pop outfit would come in. At a big box store it might be hard to flag down someone to ask a question at all. But here at Greenhaven Hardware, there's always someone asking if you need help. We came in once to get some plants and had some questions and they gave us some good advice and our plants are thriving now. They also seasonally have vegetable seedlings for sale if your thumb isn't the greenest (that would be me!) and don't want to attempt to grow from seeds yourself. Sometimes they would also clearance out seasonal items because their store has limited space compared to a big-box, so you can also find some bargains if your timing just happens to find you catching some good deals. I don't count on that at Ace, but it's nice to support local even if their prices are slightly higher (sometimes quite a bit higher) because we can get excellent customer service w/sage advice for tricky home repair situations. Overall, I'm thankful we have a locally owned and operated hardware store still in our neighborhood and it's a great thing to have when experience and knowledge is what you're looking for to tackle more complex home maintenance or repair scenarios. Thank you Greenhaven Hardware!

They sometimes have varieties that aren't in the big box stores. Today was no exception. I selected some rare succulents and proceeded to the outdoor checkstand to pay. That is where things went downhill. This usually open checkstand had a note stating it was closed and to pay inside. So back inside I went. After a short wait I approached the check stand and after the young man rang my purchases he handed me the receipt. I said well I need to pay you. And as I unzipped my RFID-shielded wallet to obtain my debit card the young male cashier said, "oh it already took your payment" (and he pointed to the "tap here" feature on the credit/debit card machine on the counter). I was flabbergasted! So after looking at the receipt I saw that the machine had charged a credit card that was located several cards deep inside my wallet in my crossbody bag that I was wearing at the time. I asked him to refund that and place the items on a debit card instead. Wow. After a brief discussion, both he and his "Lead" admitted that machine is super sensitive so my recommendations are to the consumer be careful when shopping here, and to ACE replace the machine or post a warning to customers. Lastly, the attitude of the Lead was a bit condescending - loud, and restating the obvious. And the cashier was aloof - detached and not listening.

BEWARE - Poor Quality Compost and Poor Customer Service…read more On Saturday, July 26, my husband purchased half a yard of "humus blend" compost from the Davis Ace rock yard. When he got home, I immediately noticed several large rocks, glass shards, and bits of plastic mixed in. I called the store right away and was told there had been previous complaints, but they thought this was a new delivery. The store manager apologized and said we could return the compost for a full refund. When we returned it, the yard staff were kind and helpful in removing it from our truck. However, when I went inside to process the refund, the rock yard manager was curt -- both to us and to the associate handling the return. When I explained why we were returning the product, his only response was that it was our responsibility to inspect the compost before purchase. This was shocking and completely inappropriate. A customer buying a "humus blend" should not have to sift through it on-site to make sure it doesn't contain glass and debris. I followed up with an email and a letter to the store owner, Mark Schulein, but received no response. Needless to say, we will be purchasing our landscape products elsewhere. I was willing to write this off as a one-time mistake, but the manager's dismissive attitude and lack of accountability have made me lose trust in the quality and integrity of Davis Ace Hardware.

They are out of stock most of the year. I think people buy a pallet at a time so they leave nothing for the rest of us. Well, as pricy as it is I really need a roll and thankfully I could live with a single roll. We have a dog visiting this week so we need to create a potty area in our cement back patio. It's.a really tiny back yard without a dog run it it and it makes it awkward for dogs visiting. We only have one dog that comes and visit us on a semi regular basis and thankfully it's only a small dog. I'm not sure what we're going to do when the large dogs come for a visit. I am hoping the friends that are planning on a summer visit that they will leave their dogs at home. We really don't have the room. Spring is in full swing at the home improvement stores. Annuals are ready for the planting. Look for the deals where you can. They had some flowers on sale. 2 packs for $20. If you plan out your planting ahead of time you can get some great marigolds from seeds. They take a while to grow, but starting form seeds is so much cheaper and marigolds are easy to grow. They are pretty pest resisted and I heard they ward away pests too.. If you dead head them it will encourage more flowers to grow. And if you save those heads you can plant a the seeds it hold next year and you won't have to buy seeds ever again. I used to border our pond with Marigolds, it was really pretty that golden border around the pond. They area also drought-tolerant once established so you don't need to keep drawing them with water. Depending on the type of marigolds you get they can grow from 6 inches all the way to 4 feet. I've always had the 6 inch version. I have never seen the African Marigolds that grow from 3-4ft and they are the ones you may have seen in bouquets. I've also never eaten my marigolds. Apparently the Signet Marigolds are edible and lemon scented. I've only grown the standard French marigolds. I've been growling them since I was a kid when my mom used to garden. Marigolds was a staple in our yard.
