Well this is the closes Asian supermarket to downtown. I mean prices are decent but really depends what you buy. Some of their things don't look too fresh. I looked at banana and Safeway and Coop sells cheaper then here. Well the store looks like it needs some renovation. Bit dirty and run down. Its located in the Central Landmark mall. Free parking in the front. But guess people who come to the mall are really either going to the dim sum place or to the grocery store. read more

100 Tops Supermarket is a large slice of Chinatown that's not even in Chinatown, but rather the corner of 16th Ave and Centre St NW. It's a large grocery store housed in a garishly coloured warehouse type building. This place has all the departments that you'd find at your local grocery, just full of Asian goods. It features an extensive selection of dry and canned goods, as well as all the baked goods, fish, meat and produce you might require to cook up an authentic Asian feast of your own at home. This place doesn't have all the Asian items that I regularly look for, but they have a ton of other stuff, that's for sure. So, for a taste of the Far East, set sail for the 100 Tops Supermarket. I love 100 Tops Supermarket for when I am feeling like a misanthrope (almost always) and don't want to navigate myself through the crowded, gigantic T&T Supermarkets, nor do I want to trek on over to Chinatown and take my chances at some of the littler shops being open. 100 Tops Supermarket is a reliable option for all of my needs when seeking Asian products. One thing they have recently started carrying it seems, is vegetarian stuff in the frozen aisle, that enables one to make the delicious vegan dry ribs ala Buddha's Veggie at home, which is awesome. They also have deliciously cheap bags of basil and sooo many rice noodles. When I am cooking something specific, such as my vegan pad thai, salad rolls, or am craving some greasy westernized vegan chinese food, 100 Tops Supermarket is my one stop, and is very affordable. I'm not too much of a fan of the supermarket, but I am of the cooked food and BBQ meat stand. Way cheaper than most places in town, and all of good size. And it's also the only place I know that offers BBQ GOOSE also every so often. I find that the selection overall is a bit lower (mostly in the veggie section) than that of T&T or the other market at 14th and Center, but still, they do carry most of the other stuff. Still can't rave about the BBQ duck enough, and it's usually $5-6 cheaper than T&T or the 2 KY BBQ shops in town (one around 13 and Center, the other on 17 Ave SE). read more

This is a decent Asian market with everything you would find in an Asian/Chinese market. On our trip, we stocked for our stay in Banff. Lots of snacks. We also got drinks, dumplings, noodles, etc. read more

The last time I seriously hit up TOPS 100 was awesome. BBQ pork to nosh before, during and after shopping. Good times are found here, let me tell you! I did a 5 course Indian meal for my lovely and I, and I got all the fixings at Tops 100 (no T&T, I wanted to see if I could do a five course just from Tops) -- excepting fresh curry leaves. They were totally worth an entire star. Everything else? All the veggies and dried goods you get at T&T. OK. seafood selection. Spices? Check. Awesome grocery option -- I tend to buy at Sunnyside market, but TOPS 100 is not too far down on the list. If your cooking is marked by Asian culture, you should be stopping at TOPS 100 regularly. When I don't want to drive to the burbs to hit up T&T, I am well satisfied with 100 Tops! I thought it was called 'Tops 100' by the way, but Yelp tells me it's the other way round. Oh well. I LOVE ETHNIC SUPERMARKETS! So much fun to browse the aisles and discover new things, or find sauces or spices that you recognise from eating out! Everytime I go here, I buy way more than I initially intended to. It has everything one might need to cook up authentic Asian dishes at home. P.S. It has wasabi mayo! Whattt! I know! :) read more

This is an extremely horrible and dirty place I have ever been in Canada. All ridiculous and rude cashiers and managers are from Mainland. They don't understand English and always harassing the senior citizens, definitely unacceptable. I have a serious diarrhea for a week after eating their rotten vegetables and contaminated meat. It's time for food inspector to step in. Don't don't come to 100 Tops Supermarket so many good supermarkets out there. Time for 100 Tops Supermarket to go bankruptcy. read more

This market is in a convenient location with central landmark (mall) which is in center street, they have assortment of new and interesting items you will find there that you probably won't find in other Asian supermarkets, or even the big grocery stores.... That is what makes them unique. I love how they have instant soups you can make that are made of healthy natural ingredients, and the fact you can find something different, and rare here makes me want to shop here more often. Because This market is in Central Landmark (Mall) After all that shopping, Time to grab some dim sum upstairs at the restaurant which so close. So convenient, the places is clean and everything is clearly labelled including the price. read more

Tops has been around for quite a few years and the store started out with different owners and a different name but has always been a Chinese grocery store. Don't go if you're expecting a Co-op or Safeway grocery shopping experience, shopping at TOPS is not for the faint of heart. Tops Supermarket is like being transported to a typical food store off a street in Hong Kong. Chinese food stores maximize every square inch of space they can so no super wide grocery isles where 2 carts can easily pass each other, lot of crates and boxes of stuff stacked where possible, mostly Chinese signs with usually understandable English translations (but don't count on it); fruit and vegetables that you should pick through carefully because if you buy bruised ones that's your problem; staff that only understand basic transaction English so heaven help you if there's been a mistake and you need a refund or to dispute that they rang in the wrong item because there is no customer service desk. A true foodie though will find it an adventure because it is full of staples generally stocked in a Chinese kitchen. You will find cough syrup stuck on a shelf among soy sauce and other condiments, an aisle marked Japanese foods but full of anything that is not necessarily a regular item sought by the Chinese so you really have to go through the store aisle by aisle to check out everything. The BBQ section has undergone a change so right now I can't say if it's good or bad, the prices have crept up and run by an independent BBQ business that only takes cash, the meat section is also now part of the store versus being run by an independent butcher, and the seafood store has not been there for a long, long time. The mall that Tops is in houses a restaurant and several other businesses from frozen dim sum to a Chinese candy/snack store to clothes and a tea shop. It is a busy mall especially on the weekends. The parking used to be more of a nightmare to get in and out but they have streamlined it by designating a specific entrance and exit. The selection of items overall is smaller but I do find that they have a better selection of the rarer Asian fruits such as jackfruit, rambutan, mangosteens, (all when they are in season, of course) than I have seen at other Asian stores. They don't bring them in in bulk but at least they have them when they can. read more

I had a bad expereience in this store. Two weeks ago, I bought three packs of frozen sea fish imported from China. When i ate the fish, I had the rash all over my body. i had to go to see doctors and had some pills to releave the symptoms. Last Sunday, when I brought back the left two packs of fish and asked for refund, the guys in the store refused with very bad attitude. When I was back to home and checked the web site, found that some suppliers in China preserve the fish and other foods with H2O2. H2O2 can cause the similiar symptoms like mine. I do not know if the fish we bought were treated eith the same chemical. I would like to talk to the owner of the shop, if they still ingore my problem, I am going to complain to authorities. read more

I am no satisfy with this supermarket at all. The fruits and vegetables are not that Fresh, the can goods are very close to expiry date or may be expired. The frozen and refrigerated goods are a little too old. The store is not that clean and does smell good. The price are not that low comparing to the other supermarket close by. The attitude of the store keeper and cashiers are bot friendly at all. to shop at this supermarket, my opinions are not recommended. I rate it NO STAR, or Half a star the most. read more
