We came across this accidentally searching Yelp but with long outdated information hence we were both surprised and enthralled by the service, quality of both food & wine and the ambiance that we rebooked to visit two days later. Fresh perfectly cooked seafood on both occasions. Great starters .....Alcachofas with Iberico Jamon and Baked or grilled (?) Asparagus, Fish: Rodaballo & Lubina Espalda. Reservations essential! We could only get two stools at the bar which might likely have suited a more romantic and younger couple. Despite this setback due to a previous day in-person last minute reservation the food and ambiance was excellent. Must say despite the frantic activity the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. Our shared dishes were Grilled Sardines, Black Sausage (the best we've ever tasted), Cod Croquettes (nothing exceptional), Pimentos de Padron & Salad. The wine by the glass was good bit I'd skip the local region French style overly expensive Sauvignon Blanc and stick to Verdejo or other Spanish wines on offer. This is not a restaurant for a relaxing or a laid back evening. I don't think the servers feet ever touch the ground and the kitchen must be volcanic! Great value and well worth a one-off experience. Our meal €64.35 for 2 and like many tourists was rounded up to $65.00. We might be tempted to return but definitely only to sit at a table.

We're from New York City and finding a dimly lit "dive bar" in Spain was incredible. It has an edge to it, but the bartenders were amazing. Our Español was pretty terrible, and they helped us out. We ordered two large beers and were handed a plate of tapas all for 3 euro... which led to several more rounds... and then led to us returning the next night. I would've happily returned night after night if our itinerary did not put us on a train to Seville the next day. Hands down the best olives we had during the entire trip. I love the decor. I love the whole vibe of the bar - and it got pretty lively in the evening. I look forward to returning to Valencia and I hope to find La Paca thriving.
