I left my previous review, but Yelp would not let me edit my previous post. This is an update as of…read more7/24/2020 Now my engine is dead weight. While trying to (finally) go fishing we got out into the bay, came around a buoy, and started to lose power. The motor did not sound right, so I went 5 MPH almost the whole way back. I got to the mouth of my canal, and it just stopped. Couldn't get more than 2 MPH out of her. Managed to get back into open water and hailed BoatUS for a tow back to the dock. This was the second trip with the boat and motor. A more knowledgeable friend and I have been troubleshooting extensively, we did simple stuff, like check spark plugs, wiring, etc., to disassembling and cleaning the carburetor. We disassembled the fuel pump, and found that almost every single seal had a tear in it. We replaced the whole assembly, still, nothing. Upon further investigation, we discovered that THE ENTIRE POWERHEAD IS LOOSE. When I gave them my motor, the shifter was broken, but it purred. Now it shifts, but doesn't run at all. I have another mechanic coming to the dock to look at it this week, one that has been 110% more transparent and honest in communication. When I amended my previous review, the part that I left out, in good faith, was that they ASKED me to "do something about the Yelp! review." I did something, as, at the time, they did the right thing. Now I'm doing something again. My motor is old. Very old. It probably has very little time left to begin with, but other than the shifting issue, the thing was a little reliable vintage outboard. Now it's entirely possible that I'll have to part it out. This motor has a ton of sentimental value, and that just breaks my heart. I'd say I can't believe all that has transpired, but when the towboat driver, and a handful of other mechanics and marine businesses I've visited have not had a single thing positive to say about them, that should be telling enough. Even if I was contacted about this (based on the communication I've had, fat chance), I don't want these people anywhere near this, or any other outboard I might ever own.

The absolute worst experience from start to "finish"…read more The entire staff, including the owners son "little John" is disgustingly immature and unprofessional. They do not even greet you when you walk in. They make the experience uncomfortable and ruin the excitement. They sell boats out from under you. They make promises they cannot keep. NEVER deal with Pete in "sales" because the only thing he sells is BS. As a woman, I have a firmer handshake than that "man" who cannot even look you in the eyes while "shaking" your hand. I have NEVER dealt with a worse basin. We roamed and looked at the boats ourselves. They do NOT care and it shows. When I called to speak with "little john" he did not care at all to hear nor listen to my concerns. This place is a joke. Do not waste your time nor money. For you little John. Who I told I would review and you made a joke of it. Take care. XO. Update 4/1: (wish it was an April Fools joke) Response from the owner (photo attached)- Clearly very mature and professional the same way he was when I called and gave him the opportunity to address the things my husband and I felt needed to be expressed. Instead of saying let me make this right, there was zero concern. Complete disrespect and an absolutely pompous response. Making jokes about Mental Illness is very serious. Not to mention we never even met in person for you to say such a thing. As previously mentioned- we helped ourselves around the basin. Although we are not surprised by your response, you have a lot of growing up to do. Thank you for proving my point. You should be ashamed of yourself. Have a great day!

I just had him wrap my boat abd it included, a Boat Dehumidifier, 2 air vents, and a access door with zipper. Today is November 27th, 2022. The price was $280. Everyone else was $350 and up. Crazy. I recorded the install, and here is the video if you wanted to see his workmanship. https://youtu.be/p82KmjqEPHQ I gave him the JoeteckTips instant Awesome Rating and I recommend his services. In the spring he will be detailing and painting the bottom of the boat that is how happy I am. Thank you Mike!

My son had a seam open up on his wrapped furniture and called Mike at Lukens. Mike told him he was out of town for a family wedding but would come by the following week to address the issue. He never came to resolve the issue. Today I opened up our patio furniture and there was easily 3" of water pooled on the bottom of the shrink wrap packaging and there were decayed leaves in the shrink wrapping as well. Clearly the shrink wrap wasn't properly sealed at the time it was applied. There was rusty water running out of the legs of the patio table and bench. My deck has visible signs of rust stains from where the water accumulated and came in contact with the furniture frames. Covering the pieces with furniture covers in prior years wasn't a good solution. The covers would blow off and water would penetrate. I expected a more professional outcome by choosing to shrink wrap the pieces. Clearly that was not the outcome we received. I won't use or recommend Lukens Marine Services for shrink wrapping in the future.

Took me a few years and tons of research as to what make and model boat I wanted, settling on Crownline and I finally pulled the trigger, frequently entering the showroom numerous times picking his brain about all things bowrider and as I said, finally pulled the trigger. Coincidentally, unknown to me a friend told me he also uses Kehls for winter storage and couldn't be happier. Anyways, throughout the process I came to know his 2 brothers Mike and Joe as well as Joe's wife Anne whom handled the closing. From 2020 on, I have had only an excellent experience with the ENTIRE Kehl family. They sell family boats as well as fishing boats. You would be making a huge mistake if you didn't at least pay them at least one visit; I'm pretty certain you'll be happy you did!

While he was trying to access the carb (it's a pretty old but cool boat), I was already on Yelp looking for help. The fellas at Kehl's were as cool as a cucumber and as nice as my uncles. We tried a few more things but to no avail. We simply cracked a couple colds ones and waited a short while for them to arrive and tow us back to their marina. While I didn't ask him how much they charged for their work, I do know they were able to get her fired up the next day and he was pretty pleased with it all. I don't own my own boat yet (aside from canoes/kayaks), but when I do, I'm surely glad I now know of a friendly, reliable and honest boat mechanic/ marina nearby!

I am the only small boat on a jetski dock, Chris is ALWAYS ensuring I am satisfied with my service at Open Bay. I have never ever felt like a customer here. He truly has his marina members best interests at heart. If I even think my motor is running rough, I hardly have to mention it. All of the other marinas in the area are truly a waste of time. I strongly suggest NOT trying out your hard earned money anywhere else. He did a great job going through each part of the boat, asking the owner a number of questions to understand how the boat was used which gave him a better idea of things he should look at. Roger completed a comprehensive review of all the major parts of the boat, asked me what me intentions were with the boat, and the price I was going to pay. He picked up in a few items that needed to be addressed and was immediately able to tell me what the cost would be to repair them.
