Raine was a friend of a friend, and I initially liked her design, so I reached out. She gave me a good price for her services and discounts for products. But things started going downhill very quickly: - I gave her a top limit of what I could spend and her initial budget came back almost double, so we spent a lot of time whittling down the budget - She spoke disparagingly of every choice that I brought to the table, and kept telling me "I'm the professional." - She ordered a chair cover for a chair that I had, and it came in the wrong size. Rather than returning it and getting the right size, she insisted I buy a new chair! - She insisted that I order curtains that I didn't really love, and then when I still didn't like them when I got them, she said that I had to pay the return restocking & reshipping fee. And when I finally had enough and decided to end it, it just got worse: - She only accepted cash and refused to provide receipts or invoices, so when I tried to get back money that I'd already paid her for services not rendered, nothing added up. - After I tried to reach out to her about what she owed me, she stopped responding to calls, emails and texts. It got so bad that I tried to take her to small claims to get back what she owed me, but she moved. A couple times. So the court could never serve her. Well, on to the court of public opinion - be forewarned!

Fast forward seven years after college and my apartment, pre-Raine, was still a dusty, post-collegiate mishmash of shapeless futons, lame-o movie posters, x-box controllers, and a kitchen that inspired me to cook little more than Spaghetti-o's. If I had to describe my pad's decor, I'd say it was a poorly cobbled-together mess of necessities mixed with uninspired artistic touches (i'm looking at you, Pulp Fiction poster!). Needless to say, any time I brought a lady back to "Chateau Spaghetti-o", she was none too impressed. I used to think girls were attracted to abs and maybe a winning personality - but it turns out it also helps to not live in a hovel. To that end, my place was in dire need of some decorative CPR, and that's where Raine came in and saved the day. She came over and assessed my apartment: what I had, what I wanted, what I needed, what my budget allowed, what I liked and what I didn't, and then she worked her decorator voodoo: coming up with clever and elegant solutions to transform my pad from a pizza box-littered dungeon to a beautifully simple, modern, super-comfortable living space that I'm now proud not only to come home to, but to show off every chance I get. I can't tell you how nice it's been to come home after a crazy day at work and relax in my born-again pad - and best of all it doesn't look like a generic, paint-by-numbers IKEA catalogue - Raine used her expertise to give my place a unique, personal feel, and it really does look like it should be in a magazine. Now I just need to learn how to cook something other than Spaghetti-o's. Thanks, Raine!

Her vision, once achieved, led to our accepting an offer 2 days after our house was listed! Marlene has a keen sense of how to neutralize a home so that a prospective buyer can see what THEY may want to do with the space instead of getting lost in taste specifics of the current owner. We were so happy with her attention to detail and professionalism and couldn't possibly recommend her more highly. Marlene brought in an amazing team of workers who were reliable, responsible and got all of the work done within the estimated budget and in the exact time frame that was promised. She was part of the entire process and we were so pleased that she was accessible and responsive whenever we reached out with a question. We are thrilled with all she did to get our home ready for sale.

Three to four months of work was wasted. George was our contact person at Knossos Furniture and they came very highly recommended. We even went as far as to look at some previous work they did and visit their shop. Both were very impressive. In person George was great but once he left and we had to rely on his word to send us quotes, contracts, etc. everything unraveled. When you are spending $40,000 to $50,000 on a renovation you want to know you can trust the contractor and that when they say they are going to do something that they either do it within the time specified or they communicate to you why there is going to be a delay. Hence my issue, the communication was horrible. Weeks/months would go by without hearing from him to the point we would have to follow up and then it was like nothing was the matter from his end. As though it is normal in his business to not send someone an estimate 1 month after visiting the property or saying you will have a contract submitted in a week and then a month goes by without ever hearing from them. No apologies, no I am sorry, no excuses. I would not recommend them.
